WIKILEAKS REVEAL SECRETS OF 'POWER ARMOUR'

American officials are furious now that the whistle-blowing Internet organization, WikiLeaks, has revealed the technical specifications and compounds required to construct Powered Armour, though our experts were quick to point out that these are very limited designs and lack most of the mobility of the suits the American Army is using. The information does not include any weapon or advanced sensor or communications data, which are crucial on the modern battlefield. Still, calls of 'terrorism' are heard Coast-to-Coast today, especially since WikiLeaks information has been downloaded by virtually every nation on the planet.

************
All nations can now build the following TN-units:
  1. Garrison Battalion - GAR - A:0 - D:10 - S:5 - Training cost 60 - Infantry Cadre - Dur 15, Neutr 45
  2. Replacement Battalion - REP - A:0 - D:0.5 - S:5 - Training cost 40 - No Cadre - Dur 10, Neutr 30
For comparison, the old style unit stats:
  1. Low Tech Infantry - LTI - A:1.25 - D:2.50
  2. Low Tech Armour - LTA - A:3 - D:3
So obviously GAR is purely for garrisoning but it is still an awesome defender against LTI/LTA. REP is a cheap unit that is used to replenish losses during a campaign so you won't lose your far more expensive units in combat.

From now on, it is no longer possible to build LTI or LTA. You can convert your existing LTI/LTA to cadres to help build future TN-units, which you construct with your Ground Force Training Facility. Each facility can train a single unit at a time. How long training takes depends on the unit in question, GAR takes about 7 months without cadre.

Waiting for Cassidy to get back to me.

Also, only one player, so far, has utilized this new technology. Remember, GU building is separate from installation production. In fact, let me line out all the different production avenues:

  • Installations, PDCs (installed, pre-fab and assembly), Orbital Habitats, Maintenance Supplies, Ship Components
    • Built by Construction Factories, Conventional Industry or Engineer Brigades
    • Require minerals and money
  • Fighters (space ships under 1000 tons with FTR engine)
    • Built by Fighter Factories
    • Require minerals and money and hangars for storage (hangars can be built into PDCs to create armoured "airfields")
  • Missiles
    • Built by Ordnance Factories
    • Require minerals and money, no storage required as any colony can store infinitesimal numbers of missiles
  • Fuel
    • Refined from Sorium through Fuel Refineries or Conventional Industry
    • Harvested from Sorium-rich Gas Giants/Super Jovians through Sorium Harvester fuel scoops
    • First method requires only workers, second requires suitable ships
  • Ground Units
    • Built by Ground Unit Training Facilities
    • Require minerals and money
    • Using existing units as cadre can speed up training significantly
  • Space ships (any design that does not have Orbital Habitats or FTR engines)
    • Built by Shipyards - either Commercial or Naval depending on design
    • Requires Slipways with enough size, money and minerals
    • Construction can be sped up by pre-building components through Construction Factories
As to PDCs (Planetary Defence Centre), they can be built in two ways - either as a complete, installed package that then cannot be moved or pre-fabricated parts, which can then be transported to another location and assembled with the help of few Engineer Brigades and some minerals.

ALLIANCES GROW: BANGLADESH TO JOIN INDIA, TURKEY TO JOIN THE EU!

In what can only be called a great day of changes, two formerly unaligned nations have now pledged their support, Bangladesh is to join India and Turkey is to join the European Union. What a surprising move on the global stage, as both nations were considered to belong to the Islamic sphere of influence and were expected to formally join the Islamic Caliphate at some point. Questions thus arise of the diplomatic savvy of the ISCA. GNN has not been able to reach ISCA for any comments. Both India and the EU have promised to deliver formal announcement later today. Stay tuned, viewers!

In other news, American Colonel Tina Helmuth has died in an car accident near Pentagon yesterday. Colonel Helmuth was one of the leading field officers of the US Army and her division was to be converted into the new Mobile Infantry soon. Officials have ruled out foul play.

Also in this segment, rumour of serious Duranium shortages affecting production in Brazil are spreading. There is no official word yet but anonymous sources have confirmed to the GNN that Brazilian construction have been outstripping mineral production for an extended period of time. Is the new Latin Worker's Paradise in serious trouble or is this a mere hiccup on the road to Greatness?

Lastly, the celebrated Thai scientist, Sunan Khunpluem today received the coveted Mondialogo engineering award for his ground breaking work in streamlining and improving laboratory procedures and automation to new levels. He is widely considered to be the top of his field in the world. Mr Khunpluem has recently expanded his work to also include modelling, as the barely 25 years old scientific prodigy with rock star looks has created much interest in the academia across the South East Asian Alliance, especially amongst the female population. His face has decorated the covers of both Thai Vogue and Singapore Cosmopolitan, in addition to Scientific American and the Times.

EU leadership reveals plans for space exploration

Not entirely surprising an official source from the EU government has recently confirmed the previous rumors concerning the construction of a space ship yard by the European Union. Further more the EU also states its intentions to be the first power to create a permanent human habitat on a celestial body other than Earth. It would appear that Mars is the primary goal for such a venture with the intent of securing the planet for both its strategic value as well for its mineral resources for the EU and allied powers. Beyond this not much information has been released, it would appear that the EU leadership wishes to keep it secret for the moment being and reveal further plans as they proceed further.

In other news the European Union political mission to Turkey has been a great success as Turkey has agreed to formally become a part of the EU. "A great step in our mutual struggle against the threat of religion" says an EU spokesman. The EU has previously adopted a strongly atheistic stance on religion and is welcoming Turkey as it joins us in the struggle. While several minor independent states still exist on the European continent the EU has states its intentions to incorporate these as well into the EU. The exception being Ukraine, which according to the EU treaty with the Russian Federation will be left to Russia's interests.

Press Release, Republic of India, 22.10.16.

DHAKA- As the Republic of India once helped the Bangladeshi people to liberty from Pakistan, once again the glorious nation lends a supporting hand to this fair land. To support the Bangladeshi populace to ensure their children a bright, star-faring future and freedom of travel for everyone, the two countries have finalized the negotiations to make Bangladesh an autonomic part of the Republic of India, much like the earlier adoption of Sri Lanka into this caring family of nations.

Also of great importance is the launch of a new, bigger and better domestic cricket league between teams from all across the region. A series of showmatches is scheduled both in several cities across the new Republic to celebrate this, more details to be declared shortly.

EAST ASIAN FEDERATION OPENS ITS SPACE PORT FOR BUSINESS

Today marks a day of celebration for the East Asians, as their space port has been officially opened! It's a matter of utmost prestige, especially as it was started later than the American one, a project which has stumbled in delays and budget overruns, it was still finished earlier and now is only the second Space Port on planet. Will EAF follow the footsteps of EU is not currently known.

Status of nations, 1st of January 2017 packets have been sent to all players. I'll wait a bit if anyone wants to make any changes.

In other news, is there a lurker out there who would be willing replace Absalom and take the reins of USA? I haven't heard from him in several weeks.

Brand new member (to be truthful, I learned of this forum from the aurora ones and signed up at first to follow this thread), would be available to take up the mantle of US president, if it's acceptable.

Thanks for having me :). Sent my first instructions for the former superpower. If my predecessor made any public or not-so-public deals with any of you or was in talks regarding such, please send me a PM with the details, want to have a full picture before starting the posturing America has always taken as diplomacy.

Tatar Girl Group Lost in Afghanistan

An early music video from the missing group, Superalisa

Svetlana.jpg

1. Svetlana Ivanova, Russia Today
2. Zhambyl Bashbug, Institute of Asian and African Studies, Moscow State University
3. Islamka Abramover, Centre for Eurasian Studies

Sve1.jpg
Svetlana Ivanova: Superalisa, a 4-piece pop act from Idel-Ural, disappeared after giving a concert in Mazar-i-Sharif, north Afghanistan - along with their manager Radia Saltykov. They were touring Muslim countries promoting a more nationalist and modern approach to Islam, typical of modern Central Asia, Idel-Ural, and the Caucasus. Today we will be discussing the possible causes of this disappearance and its implications. With me today are Zhambyl Bashbug, an expert on Pan-Turanism, and Islamka Abramover, an expert on Islam in Central Asia. Dr Bashbug, what are the working versions?

Naza1.jpg
Zhambyl Bashbug: We believe it was a kidnapping. Hopefully not a murder, but no organisation contacted us, so it doesn't look like standard terrorism. Kidnappings are common in Afghanistan, but the political undertones are obvious in this case. There are three primary suspects: the anti-Turkic Pashto Pan-Aryan Front, the woman-hating sect of the Taliban called Amra'a Haram, and Pan-Islamist sympathisers of the Caliphate.

Abramover.jpg
Islamka Abramover: A fair guess would be to say that the women became disillusioned with the realities of the modern world and joined one of the local traditionalist societies.

Sve1.jpg
: Perhaps you could elaborate on such an exotic version, Mr Abramover?

Abramover.jpg
: Trans-Newtonian technologies mean an even more radical departure from traditional values than what we experienced in the 20th century. Population growth may be high, but that is solely due to low mortality rates; fertility rates keep falling. The woman is at a loss in this world, forced into forsaking her womanhood for self-denying "personal improvement", working at the self-perpetuating construction factories. We must build construction factories to build more construction factories, in order to build even more construction factories! A soulless, aimless, meaningless vicious circle. Why should women be forced by the society into this monastic sexless existence, stripped of the roles of the loving servant to her husband, of the mother and nurturer of man? This is especially hard for Muslim societies, even the more secular ones as in Tatarstan. I believe the women willingly left this society to seek an alternative in Afghanistan. They could have also fled to the Caliphate. In spite of being modern technologically, it still has some commendable spiritual validity. I deeply respect the Caliphate for this.

Sve1.jpg
: I'm afraid we are short on time, Mr Abramover, not to mention that some of our viewers may find your reasoning offensive. Perhaps you could focus on the more practical versions, Dr Bashbug?

Naza1.jpg
: I will try to be brief. As you know, the Turkic countries are currently separated from the Muslim world, being either independent or integrated into mostly European federations like Russia or the EU. Turkics are viewed with a degree of mistrust by the rest of the Muslims, who tend to be affiliated with the Arab-heavy Caliphate. Afghanistan is split between Aryan and Turkic peoples: Pashto, Baloch and Tajiks on the one hand, Uzbeks and Turkmens on the other. The Turkic ethnicities are our traditional allies in this case, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan being a part of our Turan-Iranic Republic (TIR). See the map on the screen:
Afghan.jpg

Sve1.jpg
: Indeed, Dr Bashbug, but could you get to the point?

Naza1.jpg
: Superalisa were clearly engaged in spreading Turkic nationalism - while retaining a properly Muslim spirit, of course. As you know, they started out as an off-beat avantgarde band, but have since then expanded their membership and became more serious about their mission. We think they might have upset both the traditional Islamic elements of the society and the more nationalist Pan-Aryan Front. The former are a natural proxy for the Caliphate, essentially traitors to Afghanistan as a sovereign state. The latter are in-between the Caliphate and the Russian Federation. On the one hand, their Iranian brethren are currently almost on par with the Arabs in the Caliphate; but at the same time the more closely related Tajiks have true national autonomy in the TIR.

Abramover.jpg
: Speaking of Afghanistan's diversity and considering the current annexation trend, I think it would make a lot of sense to partition Afghanistan along ethnic lines: Tajik, Uzbek, Turkmen parts go to the Russian Fed; Pashto, Balochi, Hazara go to the Caliphate. Sure, there can be generalisations like "Afghans dislike Russians after the Soviet-Afghan war", but there is no such thing as unified Afghans - Pashtuns may be upset, but Uzbeks aren't. Such a partition would satisfy both sides.

Sve1.jpg
: Please, Mr Abramover, your jingoism is starting to remind me of the former LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky. What of the Amra'a Haram version?

Naza1.jpg
: While today the US are peaceful and even isolationist, merely a decade ago they were storming the entire Muslim world. This radicalised the Afghan Muslim population, and the country is still reaping the consequences. One of them is this sect, Amra'a Haram, literally meaning "the woman is forbidden". They ask for a return to the earlier days of Islam uncorrupted by Western presence, stressing the traditional Afghan practice of bacha bazi, "playing with boys", as a truly Muslim form of sexuality. Women are regarded as unclean and unholy, a blight upon man to be subjugated for breeding. It is a fierce sect, formed along the lines of the pederastic Sacred Bands of Thebes. Superalisa were thus targeted for spreading secularism and "liberating" women. Amra'a Haram are technically leaning towards the Caliphate, but their relations are complicated.

Sve1.jpg
: Here is a short video of Amra'a Haram members engaging in bacha bazi.

Abramover.jpg
: A perverse sect, but a natural reaction against the libertine influences spread by the US.

Sve1.jpg
: Thank you, Mr Abramover, Dr Bashbug. We hope you enjoyed the program. Our next discussion will be on the merits of socialism and the massive Duranium failure in South America.

Russia has changed drastically over the past decade, and RussiaToday along with it. Putinism has become a marginal movement, Putin Centre scoring 12% in the latest parliamentary elections. Oil is no longer crucial in the modern world, and Russia has shifted its attention to TN industry, which crushed the old corrupt power structures. Ethnic nationalism, true federalism and democracy emerged victorious (see p. 7 for further details). RussiaToday is no longer interested in criticising the US, which ceased its overt imperialism and became a part of the multipolar world.

They did?

RussiaToday is no longer interested in criticising the US, which ceased its overt imperialism and became a part of the multipolar world.

We did?

Damnit.

'Yes, it's me. Cancel that advertisement. Yes, the one with Brad Pitt in power armor beating down Dolph Lundgren and then picking up the crying child while the Star Spangled Banner plays in the background. I just learned Russians aren't evil anymore. Oh, and tell Arnie I'm cutting funding to separatist terrorism in Azerbaijan, apparently we don't do that anymore. Thanks'

"... and finally, after years of overruns, widespread corruption and mishandling by the previous administration, we can announce the official opening of Barstow Spaceport, the first step into our great nation's voyage towards space....."
"... I hereby announce, after years of neglect, that I will launch a massive plan of industrialization in the state of Michigan. Our worker class has been abandoned, this will not stand under my administration. Detroit will be born again, the unemployment rate that has plagued the city will be a thing of the past..."

MASS DRIVER NOW WORKING IN BRAZIL!

The fifth mass driver is now functional on planet Earth, this one in Brazil, though GNN was refused entry to the exact location and had to rely on official Government press releases, including some videos. Our analysts have declared them authentic. The Brazilian mass driver is apparently fairly identical to the other ones built so far.

Searching for my kidnapped sister
Yesterday's riot in the central campus of University of SEA has been confirmed. Starting as a celebration party among scientists over the completion of their long term project, it escalated into campus-wide festival. Several students had overindulged in spiked drinks and attempt various shenanigans all over the place, twitting and facebooking invited new members. The massive turn-out is a shock to everyone concerned. Fortunately though a few lecturing halls got trashed, with one public orgy, no loss of life and health happened.

Mr Sunan Khunpluem has accepted responsibility and gave a full public apology on media. He offered to step down from his position as Chair of SEA Studies, and his offer is accepted, effectively today. Mr Sukhon Navaratna succeeded his position.
