Hi.

The Living Lands are stunning. These are now available on the Steam page for Avowed, but here are a few that stood out to me.

Did you know ...

  1. The Living Lands gets its name from the fertility of soil and abundant growth of strange plants and animals in the seemingly endless valleys that span the island's interior.
  2. The Living Lands is known for being extremely meteorologically variable, with everything from rolling hills, valleys basins, blackwood forests, dry dune-covered deserts, rocky cliffs, boiling mineral springs, volcanic mountains, tropical jungles and oases, swampy marshes, and ice-covered peaks.
  3. Almost every major faction in known Eora have sent explorers to stake a claim on the Lands.
  4. The racial mix in the area is extremely diverse, though not necessarily harmonious. Dwarves are very common here, even among the mix (but you cannot play as one). :hahano::hahano::hahano:
  5. A long-extinct people known as the Godless once inhabited the region, a society of kith notable for not recognizing or worship any known deity. The remains of their settlements and structures can be found strewn across most of the Lands, and scholars often uncover their artifacts.
  6. Josh Sawyer had thought about using The Living Lands as a region in the second installment. Instead, it was the Deadfire Archipelago that was chosen.

Thanks,
Sherry

gotta disagree with you on this one sherry, those pictures don't look stunning to me. look like typical unreal engine crap. like an unreal engine college student project.

I dunno. I really dont. I mean, what's the chances this actually is good in terms of story, quests, C&C?
Pillars 1 was rTwP garbage, but the story and worldbuilding was good, tbh, I enjoyed it alot. Pillars 2 was hot garbage.

Am I still interested in fantasy games? Kind of, but not really. Baldurs Gate 3 satiated me for a long long time on fantasy, because it did it so well, not to mention the TB cRPG vibe that awoved doesnt have.

Everything looks too much cartoony for my taste. There is not even tasteful decapitation or amputations. Floating numbers appear when you strike an enemy etc. Lack of the really cool classes that made pillars different from your standard fantasy slop (Cipher, Chanter). Still it might be worth a pirate if you are bored but I certainly won't pay a dime to Obsidian.

First picture looks great, less enthusiastic about the others but still an improvement on the infamous mushrooms.

I preferred PoE1 to 2 as well but I'm still hopeful for the breadth of choices in this because for all its faults PoE2 did let you make some questionable decisions, and if they have the same freedom in this I'd be satisfied in that regard. I'm a bit less optimistic for the main story and writing quality, but as long as it's serviceable it's worth a punt for me because I need something to scratch the fantasy RPG itch.

With the people involved and promotional material published I have no desire for it even if I played PoE 1 and 2.
Its a copy of skyrim basically and I already hated skyrim, why the fuck I would put money in this? At this point better its better to just buy starfield if I'm in a wish to dive into a pile of shit.
I wouldn't call generic Unreal Engine assets by looking the characters they at least tried to resemble stuff that you saw in previous pillars the Orians at least, but the scenario and enemies look meh, the animations also look souless, no gore, no blood, nothing that I can say wow at least the animation team had a hard on doing this. All clean bullshit that you see in every game even if they are slapped with a 17+ tag.

I wasn't agreeing with the issues he found but UI is so dull I was waiting to see what he produces. Then I hear "I drew inspiration from the awesome Skyrim" and closed the video. Fuck you for linking it.
Once I started noticing him put wallpapers in the background and did nothing about the actual button placements I'm just like.. Fuck this Bethesda shit. Sure enough.
And what the fuck is with modern developers using one colour UIs, Cyberpunk was the same it was all putrid red. Full screen UI in general is just shit anyway most of the screenspace is wasted (still think Civ7 is worst offender for this thus far though with 75% of the screen being blank). Most of the information shown could be 1 screen as a character sheet pretty easy but of course we've got to make it "accessible" for idiots on consoles.

Its all just so tiring.

You guys can be honest to yourselves, you know you WANT to try out Avowed...
There's too much focus on woke shit in Asoyed so let's sum up what we know about the game:

1. Looks like dogshit
1a. Face animations look like a joke
1b. Enemy animations are even worse. Compare a bear in RDR2 and a "bear" in Asoyed. Reminder, this will be a $70 game released in 2025 by a renowned studio, no excuse to look this shitty.
1c. Character design is repulsive, have you seen that pink-haired furry gremlin thing? I wouldn't even rape it.
2. Le quirky reddit school of writing; "You should see my abdominal muscles. They ripple." NIGGER WHAT?!?
3. Combat is TOTAL SHIT, there is no combat against multiple enemies, the enemies literally form an orderly line and attack you one after another. The devs admitted in an interview that they were unable to program this any better so they made a conscious decision that you can only be ever attacked by one enemy at a time.
3a. Boss fights seem to be especially bad judging by that one video of a boss fight against the boss bear they've showed, the boss stands in one place and you pew pew pew pew it with a magic wand 500 times also standing in place. Incredible.
4. The UI looks like a practical joke. Don't remember any game with an UI this shitty.
5. The entire class & skill system completely dumbed down, 3 classes with 4 active skills each, and you are expected to always be a mage or dualclass with mage... You can't pick race either, zero build variety.
6. Completely boring setting, wouldn't expect anything else from Obshitian. The only person there who could write an interesting setting was Avellone. Nobody cares about their donutsteel OC Fampyrs & Xaurips setting.
7. And then, on top of that, there's the fact that this game is directed by some dumb old female, the devs openly talk about hating gamers and wanting to punch them, companions are faggot self-inserts of some faggots, etc., etc.

The only "people" with any interest in ever playing it are the most retarded nigger docile goycattlefaggot Obshitian brand devotees. There is zero appeal in this game.

Dear god, some of them look like they want you to take a Rorschach test or something before the game even begins. Disgusting.
