We are now living in a world where Avowed might be the least Woke game released this Feb after Vavra Jewed out.

Do these count as sex scenes in content ratings?
Yes.

During the course of the game, players will encounter male and female prostitutes: the screen fades to black as suggestive dialogue is heard in the background (e.g., "Nice charlies, too! Give them a shake for the Ben-man, will ya?"); there is also an extended sequence suggesting (no depiction) sexual activity with a robot (e.g., "Fisto reporting for duty . . . Please assume the position," "I suppose I should test you out . . . Servos active!" and "Something wrong with someone if they got to f**k a machine.").

Don't be so sure. They may have you play match maker again like with Parvati.
We at least you could gun down Parvati’s match in front of her eyes and then make her submit to your will and stay as companion; or let her leave; or just kill her.
Doubt you’ll able to do anything remotely similar in Avowed

Hi.

Stunning!

Gosh I can already feel the breeze through my hair as the ship embarks on its journey to The Living Lands, the approaching snow-peaked mountains in the distance shrouded by pillows of white clouds and vibrant sunrays sprinkling down upon the mushroom forests and underwater coral reefs.

Venus Theory can certainly capture the excitement and trepidation of exploring this new landmass in northern Eora with his musical style and the layered emotions he can bring out from the listener. Soil Song is a gem full of mystery and magical wonder. :salute:

From the man himself,

“In my mind, ‘Soil Song’ is one of the ‘peak Avowed‘ moments that the studio and I set out to capture the sound of ‘fantasy’ without being ‘generic fantasy. Delicate and evolving soundscapes underpin the flowing and almost lachrymose lead lines provided against a distinctive orchestral foundation blending the sounds of traditional folk and unique regional instruments to showcase the culture and ‘sound’ of the Living Lands.”

The soundtrack to Avowed drops on February 11, 2025.

Thanks,
Sherry

Justin Bell was the Supervising Sound Designer for Playstation Studios. His X page now lists him as Audio Director at Sony Santa Monica.
Good for him. He deserves, his work on POE was real good.

Hi.

Mhm they are really great soundtracks I own them both and have them on my iPod. My favorite is the Sacred Stair. I will certainly be purchasing the OST for Avowed too.

Thanks,
Sherry

Man, I really hoped Avowed to be a Eora’s Redguard or Battlespire(ie a spin-off game that explores a different and unique part of the setting, which later becomes a groundwork for a main installment — Morrowind). But so far it looks like a shrommy Deadfire, minus its far superior visuals and Sawyer’s autisms.
Maybe exploration will be interesting, and not gonna boil down to “press X” to burn this specific and highlited roots or freeze the water in this very specific place.

The above video is actually very informative if you bother sitting through the whole thing. I watched it in ~2x speed because it has a huge amount of fluff questions.

Some things I picked up:

  • Companions don't have true builds but "powers to upgrade into"
  • You can't give companions weapons or equipment (no inventory management at all?)
  • You can't change their appearance without paying real money (lol)
  • Biggest town has ~100 npcs
  • You can side with the antagonists
  • Carrie Patel wrote Kai
  • Her favorite games are Dishonored, Morrowind and Mass Effect
  • A third of the pillars team is working on this
  • "purple means magic..."
  • She's vague on whether her or the team will jump to TOW 2

For God's sake not more pissing Veilguard bollocks. Fucking quip dispensers, porn generators* and radial abilities, nothing more. Why does actual party management have to be a sin?

*no offence to any honest porn game devs out there intended of course.

Casualization and actionification of RPGs.

I know dude but most devs can't even manage that, it's been excruciatingly apparent replaying ME2 lately. Shocker to everybody here I know but CRPGs tend to be more compelling when they specialise in traditional strengths of the genre. I always find stuff like this frustrating.

Her[Carie’s] favorite games are Dishonored, Morrowind and Mass Effect
Unironically Awoved has a lot in common with Morrowind: you arrive on a ship to a strange land as an envoy from jungle Empire; you seem to exhibit some powers that uniquely tie to indigenous beliefs, granted to you by a true God(?) to battle an illness that plagues local populace; you arrive at the shore of a port town, with familiar architecture, while over places on the island are inhospitable wastelands, swamps, volcanic mounts, magical shrooms and ruins of the mysteriously vanished ancient atheist civilization, with superior technological level; the main antagonist is wearing a mask with glowing eyes and supposed to be dead; the game itself very different from previous installments in the series, leaning toward 3D action than CRPG, directed by other people and targets the audience of XBox gamers.

Tldr: Feargus was right, Avowed isn’t obsidian’s Skyrim, it’s obsidian’s Morrowind! (probably going to be boring slop regardless)
