They did try to make a multiplayer RPG and ended up having to pivot to single player...........
When given the choice between Destiny or Skyrim, Parker chose Skryim.

They also had Grounded which was a huge success. 20 million players, the full release was September 2022 and it was still receiving content updates through last year. ROI-maxing would just be focusing on and monetizing Grounded-type games.

Their first choice was to make Destiny. They just ended up making Skyrim (and having to reboot the project) because they realized they don't have the ability to make Destiny.

Obsidian can make multiplayer games in Unreal just fine, they did it with Grounded. Parker thought he could make an open world game as well, he thought wrong.

Pretty disingenuous to say that half the audience hates MHW. Most of those negative reviews are "This game is great, but it's terribly optimized. I can't recommend it in its current state."
Optimistic of you to think they'll fix it.
If the previous MH entries are any indication... yes, they will?
I wouldn't be so sure after Dragon's Dogma 2.
How so, they improved the fps issues in cities and overall stability of the game.
Am I hitting a cord here? Are some pple here so salty that they're lying about other dev games?

Dragon's Dogma 2 still runs like ass. Capcom will improve Wilds but I would keep my expectations in check.

Is that more or less than current Avowed?
Fetch me those steam charts, Roguey, and hurry up will ya, I don't have the whole day for this.
Avowed remains mostly positive https://store.steampowered.com/app/2457220/Avowed/

It gradually lost 4 points after the the $70 release, but I doubt it's going to lose another 7-8 to go into mixed. Another Safesidian mediocrity, just not all that offensive.

How can Obsidian spend 6 years making a game and be satisfied with those sales numbers?

I'm surprised with MHW numbers, game is poorly optimized and yet managed to reach those numbers. No wonder devs don't optimize shit anymore, look at those numbers.
Monster Hunter Wilds is China slop and I imagine Obsidian is quite happy to not have either of those games' user scores.
But lets be honest they would be very happy with 1 mill concurrent players even if they were shitting on the game.

I imagine Capcom right now:

Monster Hunter occupies the same space as Pokémon and Super Mario. Capcom could sell a jar of bull semen labeled "Monster Hunter: Spring" and they'd still pull millions of sales in a day.

Actually the Japs just make better games. It's simple really.

Happy page 100. I should probably add some cute furry image.

edit: Because people were giving this post weird tags, I decided to actually create and upload the image. It's actually superior to the characters from actual game.

I'm still downloading. It lost one point for me because it takes ages to download it on PC.

think this is the only outright gore I've seen in the game so far, in this mine filled with dreamscourge spiders
And it's a guy. I know I'm overthinking this, but it's difficult to reconcile such things in today's industry.

I was just thinking about the olden days like in Diablo 1 where it was perfectly acceptable to show brutalized and dismembered men AND women. But now it's only men....because equality?

I know, like I said I'm overthinking it.

I liked shooting kids in the back of the head in Fallout. Was very funny. Interesting that people went crazy post censorship.

Alternatively reverse pickpocket dynamite or if the F2 thieves let them pickpocket live explosives.

Much more entertaining and you have plausible deniability.

Now ask yourself how long it will take Microsoft executives to realize that Obsidian is incompetent at developing CRPGs but apparently can successfully create multiplayer online survival games such as Grounded. :M

Amalur would give this game a run for its money, tbh
Leave Amalur alone, that game even had tits. And it had no companions.
My main issue with KoA is that it became way too easy after you're halfway through if you level crafting. The last time I've played using only gear that I found, and it was pretty fun.
