yeah, because Times Square is where all the gamers hang out
It literally is lol. Gaming is not a niche hobby for basement dwellers anymore.

These days the hinge profile of every third woman I see mentions bg3 or FFXIV etc etc.

It's decidedly mainstream at this point.

I think the problem is that gamedev changed fundamentally

Educated chads with vision and balls (Carmack, Romero, Rolston, whatever) were replaced by (1) CalArts pseudoeducated hipsters with mental disorders, and/or (2) businessmen who don't even play games, nor have they read anything in their lives

Large teams, big budgets, etc., it all produced way worse games than ever before

These teams where everyone has a say (and it's all ran by a spineless dude) are a disaster - 99% of teams today

I can't imagine the kind of person who would install a PC game in the 90s/00s and not immediately go to the options screen to tune it to their preferences.

Because you are a retard, who rates Pillars higher than Arcanum, because in truth, you skipped the RPG Renaissance

People weren't bitches with ADHD back in the 90s/00s and just played games instead of bitching about accessibility
We first had to go to options to reduce graphic settings to have playable speed of 15 - 30 FPS.
Then we had to hope crack is working.
Then we had to hope the game is bug free, or it can be finished with bugs.

Painfully busy UI in combat, excessive floating numbers look like shit in FPP. From one of the videos:

A still image fails to convey the extent of the spam in motion.
Needs more purple.

Yes but no one thinkered with UIs, those options were very limited, you're not following the conversation

But how much of that can be turned off?
Retarded argument. It's not my job to fiddle with the UI to make it useable.

Quite glad this woke piece of shit is getting some reviews which aren't glowing with praise. It would be great to see it fail miserably.
Microsoft's money. Mainstream sites will not rate it less than 8/10.

The great trolling has begun.

@Infinitroon when will we get the option to pick Avowed character portaits as avatars? I love the purple dwarf drag queen dude here so much. Or I could just use the Yahtzily or whatever as avatar, the way she looks is way more offensive than Adolf Hitler.

My condolences to you for playing Fallout at the default combat speed.

Let me repeat

People back in the 90s/00s (you are not among those) didn't care about any options other than hardware settings

So your argument re: customizing UI "in the 90s" (as a way to defend Avowed from rightful criticism) is moot and fake

They used pixel art as UI overlay, thus we typically could just enable minimap or stuff like that. But we had message filtering options, and autopause options. (which were critical in BG, or HoI2)

I think it takes real skill to make a game that looks worse than PS3 games in 2025 with Unreal Engine 5 while requesting a 3080 and 16GB of RAM.

In BG you could remove any element of the UI you didn't care for so you could see More Gameworld.

Maybe, I can't remember (I doubt that), but the assumption that "everyone was doing it in the 90s" is absolutely fake

earnest female gamers are more mentally ill and worse failures at life than their male equivalents, otherwise women only engage with gaming (games with actual gameplay) as an accessory to being an egirl or being a pickme

Times Square is gormless tourists (and everybody else not New York enough to know to say no) being accosted by niggers demanding their wallets and phones
running an ad for it on TS is decidedly part of some silly femoid's Carrie Bradshaw fantasy, it moves exactly zero units

The game already have ugly characters , no need use character creation as gotcha to make characters that are ugly on purpose.

Hi.

The character creator can go the other way too, which is really nice in creating a protagonist you can enjoy looking at while you are in conversations with others. A quick scroll through player's character designs, did I pick out these three. Nothing ugly, and you can even turn off the Godlike growth in the options if you want to look as normal as possible.

The dialogues give the impression they have been written by a 5th grade. Continous one-line punch answers.
A few decades ago, Obsidian could write scripts such as this:
