Look man, if you really wanted to make the moneys, you should've included Chad Avellione, the bard who goes around without a shirt.

Another thing that nobody asked for on a hentai game, complex layered armor systems!

Using the same system I've been working on for That Which Rises:

Slots:

2 Head (inner, helm)
3 Chest (inner, outer, over)
2 Hands (inner, gauntlets)
2 Legs (inner, chausses)
2 Feet (boot, sabaton)

Possibly capes, trinkets, whatever.

Got a lot of pixel artwork for items but not sure how much will be included, just a small taste:

New update regarding basic mechanics and gameplay loop:

You might have been looking at the campaign page and wondering to yourself, so what is the basic gameplay loop for the game?

With Baldr’s Squid Isekai, I wanted to do something new while still preserving the old-school cRPG elements.

The four pillars of the game design philosophy here is combat, progression, narrative and sex.

Combat

BSI is a combat-heavy game. You’ll probably find yourself in combat more often than not, so the battle system needs to be robust and fun. I designed it from the ground up as a complete overhaul of the system that I used for Singularity: Tactics Arena and Memoirs of a Battle Brothel.

It’s designed to be easy to learn, and fun to build. Most of the difficulty is in managing resources. Players who have experience with tabletop RPGs such and D&D should be right at home with its dice-based mechanics.

You’ll be doing most of the fighting in the Wilds, a rogue-lite type of randomized dungeon similar to the game Hades. Here you’ll encounter enemies, loot treasure rooms, run into named NPCs and much more.

The Wilds is about risk-management. You can delve ever further into it, building up your Heat gauge, and reap greater treasures and loot. But you will also encounter more dangerous enemies.

At it's most basic, the gameplay loop is: Going into the Wilds -> Earn Coin ->Spend Coin at the Commissary -> Return to the dorm and... uh "interact" with your companions.

Progression

We all love it when numbers go up. Progression in BSI is handled in a more traditional way, with Attributes that increase your combat effectiveness, lots of armor and gear that gives you new options, and an old school skill tree.

You’ll need better equipment and stats to handle tougher challenges, but a healthy knowledge of the game mechanics will also even the odds.

Narrative

BSI is a stealth sequel to Memoirs of a Battle Brothel. You were an everyday citizen of MoonFall just minding their own business, when one day the most recent game your ordered decided to isekai you. How rude.

Discover new and interesting things about the setting of MoonFall.

Also “discover” your companions too.

Sex

This one is pretty straightforward. The “romance” scenes in BSI are composed of pixel animations and text. Lots of text. The pixel animations are also significantly more high-fidelity than in Memoirs.

That’s it! I’ll have more about the game soon!

how many bras can one equip?

I might add a joke in here about how useless and weird panty snatching in BG3 is. But uh, probably no more than 1 if I decide to put bras in the game. Bras are probably anachronistic in a fantasy medieval setting.

Tyranicon Alright, (pretty sure I've asked this before, sorry) - have you considered making a non-porn game?

Mechanics like having multiple armour slots is appealing, the dork humour is appealing... but the cartoon porn stuff is super cringe. I can't even.

Or... is there a way to play any of your games without bothering with the porn stuff and if a person did, would you say that your game is worth playing?

It's not even that I'm a prude per se, I just prefer to leaving fucking for real life, and looking at weird cartoon nudes and reading someone's wank fic that used to go to alt usenet sites and the like, just strikes me as the realm of either forever alone cat people or horny teens.

Fair enough question, I have made and released non-porn games. This game will have a toggle that disables all the porn, and it's not like you can accidentally wander into intercourse during my games anyways.

As for whether or not my games are worth playing, that's probably not for me to answer.

But a fellow codexer did put tens of hours painstakingly writing up a walkthrough of my last game:

An LP from Dhaze? That guy could sell pork to a Muslim. Still though, I'll definitely check it out, thanks!

Tyranicon Sorry if you feel this is derailing, but I assume some others may be curious as well otherwise I would've just PM'd you.

Regarding your other games, you've got:

  • The three in development (Vampire Gangs of Moonfall, Baldrs Squid Isekai, That Which Rises)
  • The Singularity Wish - looks like some sort of VN or adventure game made in RPG Maker?
  • Singularity Tactics Arena - despite the name, apparently actually a story based JRPG
  • Memoirs of a Battle Brothel - the only one I'd heard of previously from around here
Are there any others? Do you have a particular favourite?

Thanks again.

No worries. The above is the complete list of my published + in-development work. Well, I also have a 175-page lore book floating around somewhere.

I'm probably a little bit strange in that I approach my games like an author with a series of novels, rather than a standard gamedev treatment with each game as a product. This changes how I see my games: I see them as one, singular piece of "art" that is growing as I build it.

  • The Singularity Wish - Really strange, my first published game, basically a walking sim. I made this as a test so it's strange and almost non-canon with the rest of the series.
  • Singularity: Tactics Arena - Probably my most tightly-written published work, as it's a linear JRPG. Both the good and bad sides of my writing style are most apparent here.
  • Memoirs of a Battle Brothel - A way too massive game for a solo to make in three years. Took a bite out of my ass and although a lot of people like it, may be a little bit scattered and rough. First porn game. Also my only commercial "success" so far, not surprisingly.
  • Vampire Syndicate - My pie-in-the-sky dream game. If I get it right, it's probably the game that'll make me famous. Currently gathering funds. Flagship title.
  • That Which Rises - Working on this with another dev, but it's in my setting so it's part of everything else. Distant prequel, trying out new things. Innovation platform.
  • Baldr's Squid Isekai - Zero effort dumb parody game but I have a feeling it's going to be really funny. A test run for That Which Rises.

I'm a bit worried about "BSI is a combat-heavy game. You’ll probably find yourself in combat more often than not, so the battle system needs to be robust and fun."

The draw for me certainly wasn't the combat. I was expecting it to be heavy on narrative, with dumb and funny quests.
But from that last update it seems it's more "random encounter combat" followed by porn scenes?

It's not so linear as random combat -> porn. It's more like: companion activities (talking) -> dungeon (combat or quests) -> town activities (shopping) -> end of day activities (sex or raiding enemy teams).

It's heavy on dialogue, like all of my games. Porn scenes won't just play by themselves, they'll follow the same formula from Memoirs where you get to know the characters before they put out.

There will be occasional skill checks and other RPG staples, but when it comes to "gameplay" it's combat saturated.

Tyranicon how much porn do you watch while working?
what about in free time?

Too distracting. Funny story though, back when I had a super long commute to the office job, I used to put on porn during the drive so I wouldn't fall asleep at the wheel.

The hilarious thing is that a blobber (even a 3D one) is way easier to make in the engine than a grid-based combat system like I've been working with.
