Yeah, real mature response. You take one of the most beloved RPGs of all-time, say it's sexist, re-write some of the characters personalities and then call all those who disagree "not real fans"...

I'm actually disappointed there's not enough hate to get this thing under 70% in steam reviews. C'mon people.

Buy game and give it a bad review or don't by game to force developers to rethink their priorities? Which is better and why?

Attacking the criticism or the complainers will work only in VERY specific kind of situations where you are fucking sure that your customer base will respond to it the way you want, like for example Protein World and how the sjws attacked their company/products.

OT but probably OK in this thread

Protein World was classic marketing.

What, you dont like our subway/metro/bus posters? Allright then here is it supah sized. Enjoy.

It seems they now ban people for having other opinions or being angry at them for trying to change the story of a passed game, filling it with their agenda.

Yeah, and it worked because they knew that protesters/complainers aren't their customers and how their real customers (current and potential) would react when they stood by their adverts and products.

I could agree with the "they fucked up, yes, but do they really deserve this israeli style response?"

I was feeling a bit sad for them, they are idiots that thought they were oh so funny *tehee*, and as all idiots who think they are funny, they did a stupid thing that was spectacularly bad, but I wasn't convinced they deserved so much shit raining on them.

And then I saw this: http://archive.is/tlJCs

I'm pretty sure that shows there's no self-awareness, no redemption, nothing at all, for Beamdog. They dug a hole, and now seem very intent on digging until, with a bit of luck, they see the light on the other side. But there's no light there, only some SJW's fetid asshole for them to lick to see if they get some nice result. They won't. Too bad for them.
assistant producer with "protected tweets"
safe space adult man...

still less twitter followers than myself and I only use it to stalk women with misleading "looks kinda hot, oh shit I guess not"-thumbnails

isn't being a producer supposed to be a social role in this day and age

isn't being a producer largely supposed to be a social role in this day and age

No.

EDIT:

I would have expected there to be 3000 articles by now about how Gamers are bullying trans women..

Does anyone else get the feeling that the regressive left is giving up?

It seems Gamers are more agitated and active than they ever have been and the SJW's are just lazily throwing out tweets once and a while... I mean the response to Alison Rapp alone was disappointing.. one Kotaku editor bitching nobody else cared..

Could it be they finally met a community they couldn't beat. An enemy who the more you attacked and hammered it.. the more powerful it got and bigger it grew?

EDIT EDIT:

This thread is heating up.. It's a response to the Twitter S.O.S to JIzz-A-Bell
https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/50603/really-beamdog-and-dee

Now fans who were kinda okay with the game are worried that Baldurs Gate will be the next hot topic item for SJW's to ruin.

This is REALLY bad!
Why would you do something so reckless, this will only make things worse!
YOU DON'T WANT TO GO THERE!

Please don't do anything that can hurt Baldur's Gate ...

Waiting patiently for Dee to shove his foot in his mouth again...

Producers are like managers, from what I gather anyway. They are supposed to regulate how resources are spent and stuff like that. They shouldn't be up there talking shit. That seems more like a job for the marketing department.

Firedorn Saga - SJWs get content removed, GamerGate gets mad.
Mizhena Saga - GamerGate wants content removed?

It's a bit unfair that Obsidian got through it more-or-less completely unscathed while Beamdog might get completely trashed, but life is always harder when you're smaller.

Yeah but it's also that there's more leeway when you're doing a spiritual successor thing versus a direct sequel. I think they would have gotten away with the cleric transexual, refugee crisis etc. (minor political pandering that is poorly written and feels out of place in the game) but they never should have tampered with Minsc, the most beloved character of the franchise (Codex opinion of him aside) being used to spout some trendy political drivel is what did them in IMO.

Their reaction to all the backlash afterwards only made things worse obviously but as you said, small studio, more dependent on the niche it serves and incompetent in the public relations department.

This is Darwin Awards material.

I mean, fans were ready to give them a pass on bugs, corny writing, sub-par content, UI madness because, you know, it's been fifteen fucking years since Throne of Bhaal and when you reach that level of blue-balling you happily forget you are even capable of critical thinking, and what do they pull off?

The bleakest kind of seppuku you can imagine, and without even having a pitiful soul to chop off their head and put them out of their misery.

This, in the end, is the crux of the matter. It shows a disrespect of the source material, not to mention a disrespect for the people who hold it as sacred. And then, their target audience is those same people they just disrespected.

The response may seem overblown, on the surface. But this is actually a normal response - when something people hold a sacred is seen as being taken away from them. As Jarpie said, even a godawful marketer would told them that 'here be dragonnes'.

This is the gayest thing I've ever read.

You would know. (BTW It was intentionally a euphemism for a penis.. but thanks for pitching in captain obvious.)
