BG3 has been on my backlog for an incredibly long time and I just can't seem to power through Act 3 and finish it. Disregarding the degenerate moments, it's just so boring and dull to me and I don't fucking care about the plot or the characters at all. Shadowheart's arc was kind of interesting, but her 180° turn into a good aligned character just due to my PC having a good relationship with her(according to the wiki I read) was dumb and made no sense whatsoever, considering my toon is evil/morally gray at best.

It really is a shame, I think that it does a lot of things right in terms of CRPG philosophy with a lot of reactivity and open-endedness of questing in particular. Hate to use buzzwords, but it really does lack soul, even judging it by ignoring the sexual deviancy in place, as hard as it is.

Act 3 is pure garbo. Treating act 2 as a cliff hanger ending is probably for the best.

I had hoped that I wouldn't be posting in this thread, because I thought that you guys were too cynical and simply demanded a level of quality that is hardly reachable with the modern developers.

But holy hell, if you aren't right.

I played this game for 4 hours before deciding it is not for me. It has so many issues and for me, the main one being that it wastes your time so hard. When I was a kid, I wouldn't give a fuck, but right now, I want to power on my pc and relax.

But, no, you have to fight constantly with a fucking camera to realize where you gotta go.

Even if you click on npcs that have one single line of dialogue, the camera goes face to face, just to waste more of your time, rather than npcs having their line above their head to respect the player.

When you have to dice the roll, the game doesn't do it instantly, you have to wait for the animation to pop up, click if you want to skip, read the number, rather than having it done in the background. Don't tell me about the fact that you can reroll via inspiration, because an intelligent system would simply make the roll appear when you can use the inspiration point, or make it an automatic success via the usage of the mechanic of fate points as arcanum did.

The worst part of it all is the writing. It is uninteresting. I have felt many times that the companions are not answering to me, but reciting a script.

The narrator is useless as well, but I can understand the appeal of players that feel like she is the dm.

There is so much more to be said, but suffice to say, I'm happy I will not waste my time on this.

Did you convince SH to kill that aasimar dyke inside a limbo or w/e? Because I believe her "fork" is dependent on that choice.

Nah, I told her to do whatever she wants or something along those lines. It's strange that her "default" state seems to be primed for a turn towards good, I get her backstory but at the end of the day we're talking about someone heavily brainwashed from an early age via magical means and indoctrination.

I agree it's strange to say the least from the internal point but it makes absolute sense from a meta point (accumulated game experience if you like). And knowing Larian writers, I didn't even doubt when was playing the first time about what should I choose.

It makes perfect sense from a game design perspective for the "default" response of Shadowheart in that situation being a turn towards good, since the large majority of playthroughs (and probably an even larger majority of first playthroughs) follow the good path. Larian simply ensured that an uncertain player would still end up with a Shadowheart that rejects Shar, expecting this to be a desirable outcome for most of these playthroughs.

Having a "narrator" in a videogame is just... pointless. The true narrative comes from the combination of environmental reactions and your own headcanon.
