5e is a shit edition

Id rather play NwN modules forever than this abomination
Which is really saying something, considering that 3E is spreadsheet garbage, and was the beginning of the end for D&D. :M

Waiiiiit a minute. I need info on these hirelings, are they the no-nonsense adventurer guys I've been ranting and raving about the game needing? Are they just a bunch of homos like everyone else we've seen? Are they blank, empty automatons that might as well not exist?

They are being deliberately vague on that shit. Says you can re-spec them, but unclear if you can fully re-spec them including name, race, etc. I mean it would be completely retarded if you couldn't but then again you have seen what they have done just this month so...

I'm thinking Bard will be strong they get secret spell and 2nd attack never fail skillcheck, can heal, disable cutting words for a -1d12 to everything.
Bards are very good in 5e, though I can't say any of the basic classes are truly bad. Lore Bard will have a lot of thunder stolen by Wizards who can now scribe divine spells.

A sorcerer focused on utility spells instead of damaging ones....is it possible? Worthless? Asking the experts in the field.
Unless BG3 adds lots of blaster focused magic items or new subclasses, damage sorcerers are terrible in 5e. Just make a utility sorcerer that uses twin spell on haste and throws a fireball in a pinch.

The latter, in theory. But who knows if they didn't throw in at least a bunch of voice lines for each one.

It's also a weird way to go about it, regardless. Let's say you can change everything about these hirelings too... Why not just add the ability to create one (or more) from zero rather than claiming "They are 12 in total, one per class, each with one name and set appearance"... And then you can undo each one of them.

Look at all those disgusting abomination creatures. It's like a trip to the zoo!
Looks like she's still mad about not getting laid since Chapter 1 in BG1.

At this point they are either just shitposting or whoever is responsible for implementing this stuff is high on sniffing their own farts and want to reinvent the wheel because the prima donna refuse to follow a single recipe in his life even if is something already tested thoroughly.

Jesus Christ, if it doesn't annoy me to listen to two inept bragging that "Sorcerer with metamagic breaks literally the game because two fireball in one turn".
You are the morons that implemented it in this INCORRECT way into the game, because that's just not supposed to be possible.

And that is a reason why I don't engage in discussions about D&D mechanics - from Basic times it always worked on tape and glue. Every iteration bring something weird, especially in CRPG realm. D&D works only in tabletop and only because GM can change this for particular play.

With D&D mechanic or not, Larian always try made another Ultima 7.

Why? She was my waifu.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, there are 12 Hirelings available for you to recruit – one for each class. Each has their own name, visuals, and race, and can be respecced at any time.
Hope you can change look / race / starting class of these, dwarf might be missing (what a bunch of abominations)

Also Paladin is known to drop off quite hard AFTER level 12 so it's not fortunate that the game ends there for people who want to do multiclass shenanigans with that class
Where do you get that from? If you are talking about munchkin builds... maybe, but then you'd multiclass away from Paladin way earlier. From 12th level onwards in 5E Paladins get:
  • 4th and 5th level spells, allowing your smites to destroy most threats often in 1 turn (gods like Tiamat might survive 1-2 turns extra). This is where the entire concept of 'nova' Paladins comes from.
  • Excellent high level Oath abilities like: Invincible Conqueror (Conquest), Undying Sentinel (Ancients), Elder Champion (Ancients), Soul of Vengeance (Vengeance), Supernatural Resistance (Oathbreaker), Dread Lord (Oathbreaker).
Paladin is regarded as one of the best and well rounded classes in 5E. They do not become trash after 12th level.

I mean, I'm not down to play yet another RPG where I have to write and design the whole cast and then they silently follow you around like zombies. But if the mercs were normal looking dudes and had a personality that wasn't annoyingly quirky and reacted to things, I would consider murdering my way through this fantasy realm. Likely wishful thinking on my part.

EDIT: Nevermind, the hirelings look to all be clowns too lmao

Hi.

Ultima 7 had cloud shadows. Does BG3 have them considering there is no night cycle? Hide in Shadows is going to be very difficult for characters who can hide without a night cycle and those darker corners and alleyways. It is one of the more enjoyable environmental design aspects of RPGs quite a shame they left it out.

Thanks,
Sherry

When you find him in the early stages of Act 1, he’ll have a few extra helpful abilities to help you in this arena – giving you the opportunity to restart your build from Level 1 with new starting proficiencies, attributes, spells, and cantrips.
based on this you can't respec your starting class / race which would lead to that companions starting class is not changeable (good)
