People like 5th edition not because it's complicated or deep but because it makes pen and paper encounters go fast.

Most of us here absolutely prefer older editions but you'd have to be willfully ignorant to ignore that, for the purposes of pen and paper, 5th edition makes for faster games. This is good when you're playing with brand new players or in large groups.
fair enough, that makes sense.

(this was my biggest surprise because everyone sells you D&D 5th as fun)

It's fun if you like to blitz through the dungeons part and kill the dragon as soon as possible so you can return to your regularly scheduled drama class improv auditions.

Wargaming D&D group > new age fags.

Soo... I was right about Minsc from day 1 of the announcement, all those years ago. I demand a title, Infinitron.
Your previous account will be given that title. And then deleted with all the posts because alting is illegal.

Jokes on you, I've deleted all the posts on my previous account months ago. Will do the same as soon as I'm allowed for this one.

Eh just googled and here it is https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Dark_Seldarine
It's some pantheon or something dunno. Game needs more tool-tips. So I quess Seldarine drow - everyone but loth. Can be eli what's her name or any other. Weird design.
That's kind of even more wacky if you notice that other races do not pick any deity etc.
If you read that link, you'll see "Dark Seldarine" is the Drow pantheon, with Lolth as its leader. As opposed to the normal "Seldarine", the good elf pantheon lead by Corellon. It doesn't make sense to divide them based on that, unless they changed it recently and the rest somehow kicked Lolth out.

Two more predictions from me, based on the scraps that the game provides:
1. Bhaal's description specifically points to the fact that all the Bhaalspawn are dead. This is a red herring. Larian wouldn't have put it into the god's description just to say "ha, ha, CHARNAME, Imoen and Sarevok have all been FUCKING MURDERED (Bhaalspawn are seemingly biologically immortal)."
2. Even more curiously, that very same description mentions JERGAL. Why? No one outside of Forgotten Realms geeks even knows who the guy is. He's going to appear somewhere down the line.

I am curious if anyone else finds the camera annoying. It feels like an unhappy medium between third person and overtop view, but without the useful points of either.

Also, while I am typically in favor of turn-based combat, I don't think the current iteration is hitting that tactical spot. The combat feels slow to me, despite very little happening. I am only at the Blight Village, but I find myself wanting to win a conversation checks to speed things along.

Larian don't seem to be aware of the existence of speeding up animations or skipping them entirely.

The camera feels extremely clunky whenever there's a cliff, tall building or some other sort of vertical environment involved. I really hope it's going to get fixed at some point during EA because currently it's annoying to have to try to zoom in and out just to see if you can view the floor level you want to see.

I really wish space only skipped text, but did not select the 'default' chat option. Hit space to try to get the dialogue to proceed because it's so slow, and then it chooses chat option #1 :-(

While the animations don’t help, I think the amount of HP on each enemy is the crux of the issue. Certain enemies feel like bullet sponges.

Would like to do a Tiefling, but I don't really like how the horns fit with the different hairstyles and facial shapes (and the 'cut horns' look atrocious). Would've preferred if there was a 'no horns' option given that only Half-Fiends should have horns by default, Tieflings could be without.

By the way, on the issue of the PC's race, do some NPCs acknowledge it in dialogue? What about background?
I played an elf in my playthrough. When the goblin priestess tried to feed me a sleeping potion my CHARNAME just drank it and stared back at her without being affected by it since elves can't be put to sleep by magic.

I remember seeing multiple NPCs address you by your race in dialogue, but aside from the event I already mentioned I can't think of anything else on top of my head. I'm sure there's got to be plenty of details like that hidden somewhere in the dialogue options though.

Nearly all tieflings are descended from the same bloodline now
In 1358 DR, a warlock coven known as the Toril thirteen performed a ritual that cursed most tiefling lineages—those of demons, devils, hags, and rakshasas, among others—with the "blood of Asmodeus", changing their original lineage with that of the archdevil himself. This was done to make Asmodeus a "racial god", ensuring him enough followers to attain godly powers.[16] After the Spellplague of 1385 DR, when Asmodeus became a god, the magic of the ritual took effect across all of Toril and afterwards most tieflings living in the 15th century DR were of the Asmodean lineage, all having a similar devilish appearance.[17]

I love this kind of reactivity since it's proper story & system integration rather than just dialogue fluff.

Yeah, but doesn't your quoted passage refer specifically to the Asmodean subrace available in game?

There's barely any non-asmodeus tieflings, not enough time has passed since that happened

I agree it's shit and preferred the original tieflings(e.g., typically just have a slightly off appearance)

In general, the reactivity I've seen so far is done better than most other RPGs. But sometimes game designers put all their effort into the beginning of a game, then the last parts of the game lose all of that because they ran out of development time and ship for profits.

Shame, since I wanted to go for a less fiendish, but aristocratic looking tiefling. Guess I'll go for a more 'mountain goat' sort of guy and return with screenshots. :M
