Calm You don't implement different character classes because they are similar to what you already have. You implement them them because they provide gameplay options that are actually different.
What are you, an ad network algorithm?

and what the fuck means "generic UI asset"?
what is generic about it?
So, humour me, how is FR pocket different from Rivellonian one?

turn based gameplay: hmm I wonder what is the best move for me to make so that I put my limited resources to best use and manage to score a victor in this tricky maze of the mind

rtwp gameplay: literally the AI controlling your units for you

which way, white man

Damn, not having reactions except for AOO is a huge bummer. Has that been confirmed or are they just not implemented yet? Like... No Counterspell, no expedituous retreat, no hunter's mark, no misty step? That doesn't make any sense.

Yeah a game based on D&D being turn based what a freaking scandal! :D

But hey. For the people that whines about turn based combat you can always play Sword Coast Legends. That game has real time combat. :D

Overreaction aside i always said i loved the past baldur's gate but on the other hand we never had turn based D&D game.
Oh, fuck, no. Please, pleeeease not this shit again. It was tiresome enough to struggle through thread with all that "TB THEREFORE INCLINE KEKE" noncense while picking up interesting points on the way.

Aw gees, I'm so excited about this. All the ways you will be able to try and bend and break the game with the exceptional amount of spells. Can't wait to try and solo the game as a Valor Bard. The world reactivity is going to be tremendous, and in that aspect alone I'm happy it's Larian that's doing this. I can live with bad music and cartoonish visuals as long as role-play, the most important aspect, is as dense as it probably will be. Not the biggest fan of DOS2 but if it's one thing it did right was world reactivity, and with 5e the potential for that and good combat is even greater. I think the haters on this game will melt away with time.

Hah, if only.

It's a fair point, but I'm more coming at it from a caring about faithfulness of rules adaption angle. The tension is with the 'cynical' practicalities of building something. For better or worse everything could be filtered through an economic lens. The game looks like Original Sin 3.0, and having heard the designers talking about how they think about implementing/designing spells so they don't have to hardcode everything individually. They are obviously recycling assets and going for the lowest hanging design fruit so far whenever possible. This isn't intrinsically a purely negative as there are business realities to be sure, which is why Solasta isn't doing every 5e class. But this is BG3 in 5e we are supposedly talking about, and that is where my conclusions come from.

Am I the only one to whom it appears as if the game suffers from some sort of identity crisis? The illithid plotline and the supposed machinations of the Dead Three don't seem to have anything in common; any connecting tissue to form a coherent whole. From where I currently stand, either the story will be a jumbled mess, or Larian Studios is setting up the mind flayer invasion and the supposed infection of the protagonist via a tadpole as a giant red herring.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I only have high hopes for the gameplay and exploration, the writing is obviously made-up on the spot and going to be Tumblr-tier. I also rewatched some parts of the gameplay video right now and I think people are jumping to conclusions about the vampire being gay. He says he tried to seduce the noble to bring him to his master, you don't need to be gay to do that. I'd actually do it so Astarion isn't gay but his master forced him to seduce male victims just to toy with him and be that little bit extra cruel.

You might, and it would be an interesting plot point, but there's no way a contemporary mainstream videogame would have homosexuality as a cruel imposition on a heterosexual character.

It's an alpha.

The sensible thing is to use whatever assets you already have, implement core stuff, then see what nice to have things can be added.

I pity the poor souls that think that a single asset from the alpha will get changed for something new / not reused in final.

I honestly don't care but it would worry me if they changed before alpha.

Exactly, I have no qualms about this. The question was about whether or not all the classes would be implemented or just 8 or whatever number.

They already have the 'core four' and a couple others which makes a staring spread. 5e is a very versatile system and most classes can be built to do most things if you want to. Some are more delineated in what they can do or the way they work than others like Warlock (which is already in) but for the most part they all broadly function the same way.
