So outside of the validity of the Soviet censorship policies, this thread also convinces one of the social repression against men expressing their emotions. I am astounded each day anew.

Bioware developed the first two Baldur’s Gates games. How did you come about developing Baldur’s Gate III?

If you’re an RPG developer, Baldur’s Gate is like the holy grail. Swen visited Wizards of the Coast after we did Original Sin 1. He showed it to them and said we wanted to do Baldur’s Gate III. Swen tried to sell them on what a modern computer RPG is. He explained our design philosophies, what gameplay means to us, and our ideas for RPGs. They said no. I don’t know whether they thought we couldn’t pull it off because we (were) a small-time Belgian developer or if they didn’t want to do a sequel.

A year later when we were working on Original Sin II they actually got in touch with us. They said they were still thinking about the presentation Swen gave them talking about how we’d do a Baldur’s Gate III. Wizards of the Coast became more interested in getting back into computer games and thought of that crazy guy from Belgium. So that’s how it happened.

Apparently they wanted to make BG3 even before D:OS2, but WotC gonna WotC . Now they crawled back after OS1's later success, following the scent of Dem Dolla Bills and Larian agreed.
So they wanted to butcher BG from the beginning, cool. I can imagine the pitch: "We want to make Baldur's Gate 3 but it will have nothing to do with any Baldur's Gate ever"

Nothing to do with BG, except it being D&D, which is all WotC care about.

The more I see those dialogue cutscene animations the more I think everyone in the game is secretly an insectoid.

And that's your prerogative, especially as a died-in-the-wool, black-pilled Codexer.

btw man what the fuck's up with this? I'm not down with the youth vocab as they say but doesn't this imply that I'm in the "everything is shit" camp (I looked up black pill on urban dic and that's what it suggested)? I'm a Pillars-fan, doesn't that like by definition lock me out of ever getting a membership card to that club? The reason I'm not around much anymore is that the whole "everything is shit"-schtick just got old at some point. I mean sure, it is, but it's not like it wasn't back then as well and at least we are getting playable enjoyable full-fledged RPGs.

Also I got an incredibly busy job which I guess is the real reason. You still gotta come back to the Codex once in a while if you love RPGs though because no other place on this ol'e internet has proper news about all the obscure shit.

And I do love RPGs. One of the few things I haven't outgrown

Anyways I remember the drought from the noughties, that shit was a dry hellscape of nothing and third person action games. All things considered, things are decent.

In fact I'd say I'm one of the more optimistic fucks around here as long as we aren't talking writing in video games in which case, fuck yeah I guess, I'm black-pilled to hell and back. But for instance I think I'm really going to enjoy BG3 from what I'm seeing but that's also because I'm sort of pleasantly surprised we're even getting a turn-based full-fledged D&D game these days, I thought those days were over. The writing is the least important part of the game for me

Out of nowhere, after 14 years. A miracle.

And with this unbelievable chance, we still have to endure people whose only opinion on the matter is "it's not RTwP, I feel personally attacked reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

Hey at least those people are complaining about getting an entirely different game than they hoped for while the mindflayer tadpole people are just baffling to me

re: cutscene animations, Swen specifically stated during the stream that the animation blending used for it is all new technology and it's still being worked on/buggy

It's not the animations that sicken me, it's the inner monologue.
The tutorial wasn't shown for spoiler reasons, and considering the way the dialogue is presented, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess this is actually our character telling someone the story.
The kind of dialogue that happens where they're describing what's happening to them doesn't exist in the D:OS games.
e.g.,(timestamped at 0:16)

If this was D:OS2, it would be the narrator stating "Your skull pounded in response". Having your character narrate something as it's happening would be dumb, it would make sense if they're telling someone a recollection of events.

And what if the whole game is "a recollection of events" just so they can use this stupid dialogue?

Lock the thread pls. I'm tired from reading all the spergs and fanboys while trying to get any NEW ACTUAL info. All I think some fanboys tags are long overdue... Rusty.
Some "annoying blackpilled doomer" tags are really overdue.
I'm actually looking forward the BG3, it's just this thread is full of off-topics and retardation and fanboys for most retarded "super surious" studio. Split the thread!
1) Waifus thread
2) Muh serious DOS writing thread
3) Actual info about BG3 thread.
4) Oh and TB vs RTWP sperg thread.
5) Muh special DnD lore
6) Muh iteration of coomsumer product is superior to your iteration of cooomsumer product (DnD 1vs 2vs 3.5 vs 5)

Frankly I thought thread gonna be split right after that game-play video reveal. Because 250 pages before that are full of speculations and nothing more.

It will probably be locked and moved to a new thread when early access is announced.
