I think there's untapped potential in adapting 5E pre-written modules. Like Kingmaker showed us, it's pretty successful and you don't have to waste time trying to figure out where to go with your story. Maybe don't start with Hoard of the Dragon Queen though. But Curse of Strahd? I'm already heavily sweating. Icewind Dale 3 might also be a good idea, why not? It would be the first RPG series in existence which has entries in 3 D&D editions as well.

Imagine swen being so ashamed of the world he and Larian created that he dedicates the company to just making empty sequels of other people's games. I know Larian games have always sucked but please keep your bad games to a single IP so it's at least easy enough for us to avoid every playing. Stay in your lane swen. No passion. No integrity.

I'm glad Larian is willing to make changes that people ask for. If they're willing to change the narrative style because people hated it, and they changed group initiative because people hated it, maybe they'll be willing to stop making the game because people hate it. If the light was willing to shine on this world they would at least change the name to sword coast Legends 2 or something. They would have a hard time making that series any worse but I'm sure they're up to the challenge.

I would kill fantadomat for a chance to play Icewind Dale 3, it's my favorite series ever and it deserves to be recognized from the mainstream public as the masterpiece it is. But do you think WotC could ever find someone who could capture the atmosphere of IWD 1 and 2 (especially 1)? Without the artstyle, soundtrack, area design and general atmosphere that made IWD great, we would get a successor only in name.

I'm also afraid that they might use the IWD name to publish some sort of action game that has nothing to do with the D&D ruleset.

This module is a tie-in product for Dark Alliance 3, which takes place in Icewind Dale.

As long as IWD3 is not like IWD2. That game was 30% awesome and 70% endless pointless combat.

I like combat, but a huge chunk of the game was just killing stuff while you walk down a very long path.

Why change the name of game largely set in Baldur's Gate to something else than BG?
But don't worry, I'm sure that with time it can be arranged that retroactively BG2 gets renamed to something else to avoid confusion (as it's set in Amn, not BG), and BG3 to BG2.

Maybe BG1 & 2 should collectively get renamed to Bhaalspawn (Bhaalspawn 1: Baldur's Gate, or better yet, Bhaalspawn 1: Sword Coast, Bhaalspawn 2: Shadows of Amn), and Larian's new and improved BG could then drop the number altogether, to completely avoid the confusion regarding which game people are talking about when mentioning Baldur's Gate?

Presumably, it's individual initiative now? Well, it's OK with me.

What I'd really dig (although most people would probably completely reject it) would be any kind of initiative system combined with group action resolution, meaning that you choose actions for each of your party members during their turn but don't know what actually happens until everyone's turn ends. That would be very PnP-like and very unusual for a CRPG. It would add a fair amount of uncertainty on top of what you commonly have in a D&D CRPG because of saving throws, misses and critical hits but uncertainty is sometimes a good thing.
