What an annoying hairstyle.

As it should be. The only reason for drow to exist is to be hated and/or despised.

It looks almost like DA: Inquisition. Im afraid. Will BG3 have some rainbow flags, and some proper SJW agenda. Im really scared after this short trailer.
But maybe it would be great crpg, but again, both Divinity were hard to remember and i forgot all npcs there, plus that obscure island-pirate theme.

More than 630 pages later, it's still going to be absolute dogshit as a CRPG – a genre that ought to constantly aspire towards the condition of Gesamtkunstwerk – unless you're a persnickety TB combatfag and/or a strict metagamer with an accountant's soul, in which case: carry on, fellow enthusiast, even as you baffle me.

Like the original Baldur's Gate, will locations be broken down into sections or will it be like in DOS2, where you are in a huge terrain.

David: You're in a huge terrain, but between acts you will travel from one huge region to another.

Ah, shit. That's really something I was curious about, just didn't bother finding out until now. There's my expectations deflated! Not that I really cared that much before, but still. I liked D:OS 1 & 2 just fine, but goddamn, I'm just really not a fan of that whole 'theme park' design they've got going. With all that crazy shit just stuffed together into one big map. That's ultimately still not THAT big. What the hell's Baldur's Gate, the city, gonna look like too? I'm assuming it'll be 10 buildings and 250 NPCs. It'll look nice, I'm sure! But can't imagine it'll feel like any sort of 'real place.'
Anytime a design philosophy difference between bg1+2 and Dos2 exists, Larian will follow Dos2. Someone remind me why they're calling this bg3 again.

Considering that Baldur's Gate was made by BioWare and that many perceived Dragon Age as Baldur's Gate 3 (and it was indeed the closest thing to BG3), their decision to use visual style similar to Dragon Age seems logical, if somewhat lazy. If they tried to recreate Baldur's Gate 2 art style, so it was recognisable, it would required more effort, but I am sure it will be well received by fans of the original games.

Looks like a decent ARPG with high production values, but not my point n' click "Gorion would be proud of your actions" true RPG that I so desperately wanted in this awful 2020 dogshit of a year. Can anything go right in 2020?

If they dropped the past-tense narrator, that's a big improvement already. The music is good.

And I agree, there needs to be more dirt and grittiness instead of the shiny bloom. They already made some progress with the shadows as the comparison in the video shows.

Who listens to music in video games anyways? Goes against my immersion. When I'm walking through a forest I expect to hear some things such as birds, wind, trees and leaves rustling. What I don't expect to hear is a piano.

Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture
What have they done to my Shadowheart? Who is responsible for her butchering?

Well, in many RPG's the music is too annoying, so I turn it off as well. A notable exception was Shadowrun Dragonfall with its magnificent soundtrack.

lol, just goes to show you. First impressions are very important for me for immersion, and music is a hugely important on first playing a new game. If the music in a game isn't any good, it's a big minus and it's hard to fall in love with the game. Fortunately, most CRPG music these days is amazing, with composers like Soule, Bell, Pokrovsky, Zur, etc., etc.

At some point, though, of course, when you've heard the music so many times it does get boring, then I itch it swoff and either use one of those generic collections ("peaceful travel", "dungeon" etc.) on YT, or just nothing at all. My current run on PFK is silent. But by that stage, the game's done its job of grabbing my attention, and I don't have to be persuaded to like it by good music.

I think music simulates a dimension that can't be represented by visuals or interaction - the emotional tone of what your adventure. It's not that you've got a full orchestra in wagons following you around - that's not the way it's simulating. It's that it represents the feeling of your emotions and spirit as you're adventuring. Really pretty much the same as with movies.
