I went to the mountains just because Fr'og was bitching about it before entering the shadow prison.
I rushed it, because I felt I might end up overleveled. I was right, because I spent most of Act III on level 12.

Is there anything interesting there, outside the Lathander monastery?
The monastery/creche includes the Blood of Lathander mace, a githyanki device that can transform the mindflayer abilities that cost an action to just a bonus action, and an encounter with the immortal Lich-Queen of the githyanki (and an in-person encounter with the "Guardian"). It's also much faster to complete than the Underdark/Grymforge areas. :M

Oh, I have the mace and I met the queen. I just assumed there might be something more there because I didn't explore the mountains at all.

That disgusting black circus tranny.

I wonder how many players just went murder hobo after having contact with that abomination.
I went murder hobo as soon as I saw the ghoul. The fact that the crier was also an elf just added to my rage.

Since the creche is brought up I kind of want to mention a pet peeve of mine about it.

We're offered 2 branching paths, the mountains or the Underdark, but at the same time you also receive follower quests that directly lead you into the mountains. If you go through The Underdark you'll still end up with 1) a quest for that area in your quest-log and 2) Lae'zel will warn you that if you don't go there that she'll leave the party. Going there after you've just gotten to Act2 feels wrong. It completely breaks the narrative flow and the enemies in the mountains are also 2-3 levels lower than your party by the time you exit The Underdark. The narrative goal is supposed to be the Moonrise Towers, not the Creche AND the Moonrise towers.

They should've done one of the following:
  • Choose between keeping Lae'zel (creche) or Shadowheart (first Shar Temple leads) at the moment you're told to go to the Moonrise Towers.
  • Have Lae'zel's quest in the first area lose the trail to the creche after your encounter with the Gith patrol. When entering the mountains, then and only then make the players find signs to go to the creche. Expand the encounter with the Gith betrayers at your camp to patch up any missing narrative problems from not going into the mountains.

I didn't get any warning from Lae'zel that she's gonna leave if you go the underdark route. As far as I know that only happens IF you go for the creche first and pass the checkpoint on that map which has directions to the creche (she doesn't do shit of course despite saying it). In fact you can even stumble on the underdark on complete accident if you explore for the temple under the goblin camp, and proceed from there without a word of warning. That said yeah it's stupid how it's not even a choice despite the game trying to frame it that way and even giving you warning windows about how you gotta tie loose ends and switch regions when you pick one. You can just clear both paths, and you should if you want to be properly leveled for what's coming.

really enjoyed wizard tower and vioconia enocounter in act 3 so far won the latter oner by the skin of my teeth not sure if there was some gimmick to it, just kited the whole room back to the corridor(had to use beholder)
performance seems to be fine overall i get 30 to 60 fps, switched from dx11 to vulkan and game stopped crashing(you get less fps but its more consistent at least on an amd card) .

Viconia encounter

That shit is straight character assassination.

Thoughts?

I watched this earlier and hoped for something juicy. Unfortunately he just stated the obvious. Waste of time tbh.

He did a Dragon Age Origin review a while back and all he talked about was the story/lore. Not a huge fan of that channel.

The guy is a publisher shill. Stopped watching his videos once i learned that he's bought by publishers.

Yeah it's one of the things I really didn't like despite enjoying the game overall, she doesn't look, sound or act like Viconia, they might as well have changed her into a male dwarf

yeah was out of place, same with jaheira, would be for the best if they didn't make old characters part of the game also for some reason they made their character models ugly af

I'm sure it's a given that every single eceleb is a shill. There was a case when one of the FPS game genre e-ecelebs Gman or something got caught shilling for fucking EA out of all things if I remember correctly and then just went ahead and confirmed it and adopted it as "yeah, because it's good no shit". YouTube channels are the new press, so obviously anyone who's popular is going to have their hands in the pot.

I always knew that Australoid slag was dirty. Never liked his take on guns, always smacked exactly the kind of drivel a "gun nut" in a land with no guns would sound.

I guess my playthrough is now broken because I never spoke to Zevlor, after resolving the Enclave situation, so no Halsin in my camp. Also the goblin murder butler hasn't spoken to me in ages either.

So, what's the deal with Shadowpussy?
Do you have to wine and dine her first?
Yes, it's one of the most cringe-inducing date scenes I've ever seen in a video-game romance.

BG 2 has some pretty awful romances, but man that wine on the river bit made me genuinely cringe. I honestly think that was written by someone who has never gone on a date before, let alone get laid.

What do you expect, when their patreon doesn't take off, they have to pay for the professional mic they bought

I wish there was flavor akin to BURN IN HELL DEMONIC ABOMINATION but at least you can kill the thing, pack the corpse in your inventory and throw it into some chasm or lava pit later.

Soon enough there will be videos about creative ways of ridding faerun of that evil creature, much like that infamous dude who first lassoed the sufraggete and fed her to gators in Red Dead 2.

Jaheira is totally fine and still mostly in character, even though she abandoned the harpers should you romance her ass in BG2. It's at least not that far fetched to see her returning to the fold or some shit like that.

Viconia
and especially
Sarevok
are fucking atrocious and the definition of character assassination. I understand that WotC wants to push their canon dog water lore, but Larian should've just skipped them entirely.

I get that you are being sarcastic but i wanted to elaborate on the issue regardless:

If you are a public figure who speaks about the quality of games to the public, and/or has influence on people's game purchase decisions, you shouldn't take perks from publishers or have relationships with people who represent publishers (e.g. their PR teams). Perks: early game releases, gifts, collectibles, VIP access to company, travel and board to their studios, free games and other misc. swag, etc. There's an obvious conflict of interest there. It's not that hard. Apparently though the market has spoken and people don't care enough to blackball youtubers who do take perks/get VIP treatment from game publishers/game developers.

You don't get a copy of the game before release = you can't review in time = most will watch elsewhere = you'll lose views.
The exception are reviewers who make reviews a circus like AngryJoe.
