In the end every class is viable in this game and even honor mode is not very challenging.

I was surprised by the honour mode numbers they showed. Then I'm reminded the sales numbers mean most people playing this are casuals who probably had their first contact with a p&p ruleset playing this.

Getting advantage on a spell save DC is literally a metamagic and a good one.
First of all, the game has very good itemization for DC casters so most of the time having sufficient spell DC is not a problem. I played an enchanter wizard specialist on Tactician and never had a problem with spell DC. Secondly, the best metamagic is twinned spell which is an overwhelming advantage, same goes for split enchantment. Thirdly, a well rolled portent die is much more powerful than an advantage, because it can provide a massive effective flat increase of spell DC while an advantage is +4 spell DC on average. Lastly, school powers and metamagics are available significantly earlier than level 9 and keep scaling up until their maximum benefit while magical ambush requires level 9. Until you reach that level, your rogue is an absolutely irrelevant dogshit as a caster and cannot even attempt to hold a candle next to a proper full arcane caster.

TLDR what's dark urge? I thought it was just dialogue options to kill everyone?
bhaalspawn character, only playable if you pick him as your main. Otherwise he gets killed by Orin before the game starts.

The Dark Urge's primary personal quest is called The Urge, and adds a unique storyline that surfaces over time as the true nature of The Dark Urge is revealed.

A character with the Dark Urge Origin remembers nothing of their past and are plagued with dark urges of violence and cruelty. Over the course of the game, the player can choose to resist or indulge in their character's urges, as they slowly learn more about their past and their nature, and will be presented with unique opportunities regardless of which path they follow.

Seems a shame that I missed it for no reason then. They should've telegraphed it better that it was serious additional content. I thought it was random sadistic shit for lulz.

They advertised it heavily before and during release. It is also the most played origin. I assume you never followed the game or this thread.

The origin is basically a serial killer with amnesia and yes, you can play a redemption run. It is also the origin that ties most heavily with the main plot.

I don't follow any materials prior to the game release if I intend to play the game. This is the correct way of playing it. That they didn't accommodate it through in-game hints simply tells you of their incompetence.

There is bliss in ignorance when trying new games. That's how I played them as a kid when I bought CDs of games I never even heard of.
When modern gamers know 6 months before release who they're going to take to party and who they're going to fuck, in my days it was called spoilers.

Portent dies and meta magic are limited resources though, magical ambush is not. I guess it depends if you're spamming long rests. I never said arcane trickster was quite as good at casting as them, I said it was on par. Meaning it's close. While having 22 Dex, an extra perk, better, movement, ect... Sorc and divination wizard are better but not by a lot. Arcane trickster is underrated as a pure class.

Agreed before level 9 they're a trash caster. But they're a solid martial before that. Mage hand can guarantee you sneak attack every turm if you keep it invisible. Or it can be used to throw potions or bombs making trickster sort of have 2 actions. Gets evasion at 5 which is a very good ability.

You know what's also a limited resource? Scrolls the thief needs to achieve spell parity and those scrolls are much harder to acquire than simply taking a nap.

I said it was on par.
No, they're not on par and they can never be on par for reasons I already stated: no ability to cast twinned spells and advantage being massively inferior to portent dice in situations where it actually matters.

But they're a solid martial before that.
I'm not doubting their martial usefulness, I'm arguing strictly their use as a caster that tries to compete with full arcane casters. The simple truth is that they can't compete.

Scrolls are super easy to come by. If you just make the rounds at vendors after you rest (you don't need to rest often) you'll have plenty. One drawback is you might not always have the best spell you want for every situation.

Man the list of mods on the official platform so far is extremely disappointing. Most are of the "rename Halsin to daddy bear" and "More vibrant pink hair colors!" variety. Even simple class, feats and race mods are few and far between. No difficulty mod or anything of the sort.

Their alpha stage with mod developers was on for over a month. Did they completely ignore the "serious" modders and recruited cringe redditors with no programming or graphic knowledge? The most popular mods on nexus are nowhere to be seem.

Sadly, they know their audience well

Whie BG3 has its positives and I sunk a good amount for time in it, I could certainly see this game being an overall net negative for the RPG genre with all the cringe it spawns

Martials need rests too(although short rests reset most of their features).
Ok but compare even something like a paladin without spell slots vs. wizard or sorcerer without them. Paladin is a discount fighter, wiz and sorc are barely doing anything

That is peanuts, but it doesn't really matter, in this game resting is so unrestricted there is no reason not to do it often.

My first honor mode run I remember saving "potions of angelic slumber" for house of hope since you can't rest there. While I did use them, it wasn't that necessary. The fact that these potions exist maybe signals that they originally planned to restrict rest more.

The single only part of the game where you are penalized for resting is grymforge before you rescue Nere - don't remember details but resting before saving him results in the quest failing. I'm not a fan of timed quests, but they shoud have maybe used this more often. Either that or restricted resting in dungeons or certain areas(as in the house of hope).
