Just installed modded BG, so I can share my list:
- Tweak Pack
- BG Trilogy
- Unfinished Business I & II
- Questpack
- Sword Coast Stratagems I & II
- 1PP
- Level 1 NPCs

And that's it basically. I remember playing with similar setup some time ago and it was quite fun. You could add widescreen mod to the list, but I find that my eyes get strained pretty quickly when playing BG in widescreen.

It's a big complicated but you can see what I installed and in what order here: http://loopingworld.com/misc/weidu2.log

Logic on this is to have BG 1 + 2 + expansions rolled into one seamless game and with all fixes and improvement. All NPC banter packs. But without new fan made content that is usually too variable in quality.

God damnit...Fuck this patching/modding process.

After getting an error about no SpIn550.spl file and finding next to nothing on Google, I took the only suggestion presented: Do a fresh install.

So, after a couple hours of reinstalling shit, I get the same god damn error.

I'm seriously doubting the compatibility this has for no expansions (Neither SotSC nor ToB).

If you want to be evil in BG2, I suggest the Valen mod (being evil is otherwise annoyingly boring).

The Ascension mod makes the ending of ToB much more interesting... and challenging.

What could be more Sue-ish than a 14 year old, pure and innocent Paladin who constantly interrupts the main character's story?

A lesbian kensai with 25 Dex who's the daughter of the greater goddess Akadi and has so many lines you end up with the feeling it's her story rather than yours.

Somehow I missed that when I looked up her mod page.

Okay, Chloe wins.

I use a couple more than andrzej, but this is pretty much the bare bones "really good" modpack. Remember to choose the options you want from the mods, do not install all of them.

This. I remember some errors installing Unfinished Business I with BGT. The Ascension mod is fine too, David Gaider's finest moment, but I think it overlaps with some components of SCSII. Also, Level 1 NPCs is fine, but some of BGII kits are overpowered in BGI, so you got to show some self-restraint.

Actually, Xan for BG2 is great, if you can stand his fanmade VA. He's the only character in trilogy who was written from BG1 to ToB and it was done consistently.

If it's your first playthrough, don't use any mods. Not just for "purity" sake, but for the sake of your own sanity.

They are all in quality far, far below the original. Except maybe "Ascension" mod by Gaider himself, but that's not fit for first playthrough either.

PS: Except Saerilith of course, that one is a true masterpiece.

The mods that introduce new NPCs, and the "mega mods" with lots of overpowered items and spells, yes.
But BG1 NPC Project, Sword Coast Stratagems and the various fixpacks mods are quality mods.

You're probably right in BG1 department - I've only done vanillla BG2 + ToB playthroughs (and never encountered any bugs or problems there, so need need for fixpacks etc).

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to BG1.
