I'm sure is covered somewhere in the 30 pages, but do these all work with the EE editions? I bought them on sale because having Baldurs Gate on steam was easier than installing it from my ancient boxed copies.
If you paid double the price just so you don't have to do the work of putting in a CD (or, uh, buying the originals on GOG), wouldn't installing mods be too much work for you?
Grunker L1NPC is awesome, yes. I actually don't like the idea of changing NPCs' classes too much, though, probably only because I'm so used to them now.
One of these days I should do a 4-monk party.
How do you extract soundsets, copy files and install non-numbered components automatically? You don't have to use BWP presets at all.
I know Refinements, for one, hasn't been ported to BGEE, unfortunately.I'm sure is covered somewhere in the 30 pages, but do these all work with the EE editions? I bought them on sale because having Baldurs Gate on steam was easier than installing it from my ancient boxed copies.
Then again, I don't need the EE edition.
It's not as fine grained as doing everything manually, you get the same options you'd have if you used the WeiDu setups and some additional compatibility ones. How do you extract soundsets, copy files and install non-numbered components automatically? You don't have to use BWP presets at all.
edit: can you automatically include and decline the components you don't want to install, time after time, without any input? I don't see the relevancy, other than one lets you hit buttons for what you want to install, while the other is completely automatic.
setting up a new BGT install with BWS only takes a couple minutes.
If anyone cares, and has looked at my .bat file in the earlier post; this is the antithesis of the mods I install. I try for a vanilla feeling, difficult battles and non-cheese gear/spells/writing (SCS is obviously my patron saint). I'm not picking on you Hegel, you merely provide contrast that highlights a point that I never made in my original post. It's a philosophical difference; rather than turn gear up to 11 and battles up to 12, enhance battles until they're as difficult as possible with vanilla-ish gear. Otherwise you're in an arms race of modders' cheese.I usually go for the full install, Asian mods included (protip, they are a bugged mess, don't install them), it takes around 3 hours with an SSD. There are some nice mods out there, the psionic mod, the wild mage mod, some cool npcs (the illithid one, beyond the law), bard and rogues modifications, a major rework of summons and divine spellcasting. The loot and xp tables are fucked up though, by the end of modded BGI you'll be overleveled and equipped but you can always gimp yourself, moreover some mods are really tough which balances things out (Naskell mines are something you can't rush anymore, Irenicus' dungeon has been reworked and the duergars can now summon fiends and planetars).
If you want a shot at epic level stuff try the planar sphere mod and Vecna. Those are shit lorewise and have some really overpowered loot but are quite challenging.
Kind of on the edge about installing the "Revised armor and shields" component of refinments. Basically it makes all armor/shields usable by anyone with thievery skill penality and % cast failure increase. Can't find a readme online so i'll paste the numbers:
-Wizardly spellcasting and Thieving abilities in armor is now permitted - with penalties, of course.
-Tables (all values are incremental in case there is already an effect modifying the statistic, so EG
in the shield section "AC Bonus: 0" means to leave unadultered the original SOA/TOB bonus, 1 would
mean another point of AC):
ARMORS:
EN - Enchantment level
DR - Damage Resistance bonuses (Slashing/Piercing/Blunt/Missile) (%)
DEX - Dexterity penalty
Mov - Movement Rate penalty (%)
SF - Wizardly Spellcasting Failure increase (%)
TS - Thieving Skill penalty (PickP/OpenL/FindT/MoveS/Hide) (%)

Mostly concerned that this won't affect item added by mods and may conflict with other shit, anyone had any experience with it?
Ok. Finally sorted. For anyone like me (long time since last playthrough, long number of mods that have changed/disappeared), this .pdf guide could be of considerate help:
http://www.shsforums.net/files/file/534-big-world-english/
Personally loving it. They have detailed descriptions of all the mods out there, listing all dependencies/conflicts for each and every combination possible. Which means it is of use to you even if you have decided to forgo BP. Like i have. Never a fan of multi packs

Apparently no option for the classic (or in my case GoG) version, and when i go to the next step and i select my installation folder i get an "unexpected folder structure please select the folder containing the baldur.exe" message, any clue how to fix this?
setting up a new BGT install with BWS only takes a couple minutes.
Wainting for it to install, on the other hand... takes hours.
There are a few good NPC mods, but the NPCs from BG2:EE are not among them.

Tell us about Saerileth, Grunker.
Addendum:
If like me (i say that a lot, sorry) you fancy playing as lawful/neutral/chaotic evil but naturally find the experience lacking:

for an NPC to join you. Make sure you rtfm in regard to consequences (other NPCs will leave your party [which would have happened anyway]).
Personally recommending this, the one and only NPC-related mod i bother with. Too much fucking romance elsewhere. And drama(TM)

"Edit: Is there a mod that adds the new NPC's from BG2:EE into the classic version? They can't be as bad as most other NPC mods can them?"
NPC mods suck and so do EE NPCs. Why do you Bio?
