Your thief skills will lack far behind if you're FMT, especially if you're playing with a party since you gain XP so slowly. SO use Imoen for lockpicking and trap-hunting in BG1. Dual her at level 9.
Is there any benefits of reaching a specific level in Thief for Imoen and then Dual her? I am playing FMT so don't need her thieving skills all that much and would like to dual her and make her more lore friendly.
In the 2nd game with the a lot of mods I am playing solo and one or maybe more of the mods adds a lot of OP items to the game, from the description, it said it will make fights harder but so far its making it a lot easier.
I now have +3 weapons and with a little buffs, my AC is -13 and I am still in Ch5, haven't reached Baldur's Gate. I got a helmet that gave +2 CON from some assassins in the Friendly Arms inn and now I am at full health almost always just from traveling from locations and almost safe with a little buffs from potions. I have Greenstone amulet I got from pick pocketing someone I think that passively protects against all mind attacks and I got Free Action ring that protects from movement attacks and allow Hasting so yea, its kinda pretty easy to decimate everyone.
IIRC the Greenstone amulet you buy from the DLC village east of Baldur's Gate needed activation and had charges or something. Could be wrong tho. So far I am enjoying the game, there are a lot of new content and encounters but its kinda pretty easy. The only thing that miss me up is when a cleric summon some girl summons (sorry, can't remember the name) that use Nature's Beauty and blind me permanently I think until I go to a temple. Tried resting, Elixir of Health and Cure Affliction spell but none of them cured Blind.
Edit:
The guy in the Cloak mine didn't have Boots of Speed. I have Boots of the Fox which I got from the same assassin group in the Friendly Inn Area I think, +1 AC and 40% Movement Speed.
There was a much harder fight when I first entered the mine area, an Arch Druid with a lot of Bears, was kinda hard to hit and kept summoning elemental and stuff. He was standing close to Talon Elites which also decided to join in with him.
Also I think the music that come with the BG1 NPC mod that enhance the current NPCs is kinda bugged. Whenever they talk a music for their theme starts like in BG2. But the music of the mod overlap[?] whatever music is currently running in the game. So if I am in a tavern, the tavern music is up and NPC music play at the same time.
Edit2:
Yea, I just got Girdle of Frost Giant Strength, most of these items don't belong in BG1, they are way too high level, kinda makes the game imbalance or something. There is also Potion of Superior Healing, can't remember if it was ToB or late SoA.
Didn't get the Key to drown the mine, I killed everyone but none of them had a key, normally the boss has it but he didn't. The only the one left was the coward mage but I let him go. First time I leave without drowning the mine.
Edit3:
Man, I went back to Friendly Arms Inn to escort a kid that was locked up in the mine and the guards in there that stand on top of the retractable bridge were hostile. I didn't do anything wrong or killed any innocent aside from the druids which aside from the one with fake message don't cost any reps. No one else is hostile.
I put them to sleep so hopefully they stay sleep for a 8 or so hours, there is a girl looking for her sister or something that I guess starts the Dark side of the Sword Coast mod, the audio for it is really slowed down, kinda bugged.
Edit4:
Yea, I am not sure I'll play this for much longer. Game is kinda bugging out. Don't think it was good idea to install a lot of mods without reading about them a little better.

Yea, sorry. I don't really read any older posts for a game if I don't play for a while so I kinda missed your warnings.
I do still like the Max HP on level up tho.
Edit:
I kinda want to restart everything. I am kinda enjoying the EE run more than the BGT so will try and spice the BGT game a little bit I think.
Will only install fixes, BG2's Unfinished Business for the early Bag of Holding, SCS, Ascension and some tweaks. No spell revision or anything else. I will also probably use all of SCS's components exception anything that remove an item property and maze randomize, will try and go at it with no cheese. especially in BG2's part of the game.
Not sure if I will do companions quests, like take them temporarily and do their quests and then kick them out. Not sure if possible to acquire Planar Sphere solo without killing Valygar or letting him join.
I don't think I am at the point of ironmanning the game yet so will just try and go at minimizing resting and reloading as much as possible.
Edit2:
Not sure if bug but did not experience this before so kinda thinking it is. Druids keep shape shifting, attack, revert to human, cast magic/attack, then shift shift again and repeat.
This could also be from the SCS component Improved Shape shifting, IIRC BWS recommended another improved shape shift from another mod instead of the SCS version. This time I am using the SCS version so it kinda feels different, could be wrong.
Edit3:
So about Degrodel disappearing the moment he takes Helm of Balduran, I just found out that Charm works on him and helps keep him from disappearing.
Edit4:
I keep getting CTD after I take the telescope from the Hall of Wonders for the guy in Elfsong. Game almost completely vanilla aside from SCS and tweaks and the fixes.

I kinda don't like some of the choices so might change them when I finish BG1. The Harm spell, don't think any enemy ever used it on me but if anyone does use it, it will be death, don't have even close to 150hp. Also I kinda don't like how some magic effects are not displaying now, so I am not sure how I'll be able to tell what buff some mages will have I think?
Final note, I am considering Tactics, I am probably not even close to be a Tactics level guy but I want to see how well I'll do, might teach me somethings as well.
Edit5:
A lot of Tactics's are highlighted red in BWS. This is BGT so don't know what is that all about. I thought since its BGT Tactics will naturally be compatible especially since I have seen a lot of videos on YouTube playing SCS and Tactics at the same time.
One of the components kinda makes it sound that Tactics should be installed in BG2 game only or something, there is no option to only use BG2 in BWS AFAICT so I don't really want to bother with worrying about load order and compatibility too much.
Only things that seem to be compatible are:
Improved Copper Coronet.
Improved Small Teeth Pass.
Improved North Forest.
Marching mountains.
The Ritual.
The Acid Kensai.
Red Badge - Poison Based Encounter.
Random Wilderness Encounter.*
* The Random Wilderness encounter is incompatible with the SCS component "Increase Difficulty of level dependant monster grouping" so I am going to use the SCS version since I chose almost maximum so everything except for Liches.
Also I recently read that in P&P, the Staff of Magi doesn't have the invisibility passively or something so I am gonna try and remove that as well to see how it will become. I also am gonna try and increase the HP of the monsters by 50% and Dragons have a lot more health. In EE I beat Firkraag a lot easier than I remember so that kinda shouldn't happen.
Edit6:
LolFixer is preventing the installation from completing, tried a couple of times and same result and I can't seem to disable LolFixer from installing in BWS.
RITCOUNT.CRE is the problem, tried the same method as before with deleting the file from override but didn't fix it. I can only retry or exit the installation.
Edit7:
Man, I just noticed that Rogue Rebalancing removes a lot of the stealing options from shops in BG2. WTF is up with that? sure its OP when you stack potions or have an NPC specialized but come on, make it a little harder or improve t or something not remove it entirely. The mod does both, makes potions not stackable and still removes the option to steal.
My imported solo game is pretty high level, F9/M11/T11 at the end of BG1. The run is pretty fun but only problem is I missed installing the mod that restore the high XP for spells and traps for BG2 part of the game so right now I am wasting a lot of exp whenever I memorize a new spell or disarm a trap, getting very little exp, 90 exp for a 9th level spell kinda kills the mood.
Also I think I am getting the hang of how to properly play an FMT class, so far I am breezing through the game even with mages, haven't fought liches yet but I am kinda confident that I'll do much better than before. I also read that Spell Immunity can be used for several school at the same time so I can use an Abjuration and Divination so that will be great I think if it really works.
Edit8:
I am trying out Spell Revision, I kinda don't understand the Spell Immunity change, its Dispel Screen so from reading the description I think only effects dispel and remove, but not sure if it will also can protect against True Seeing from dispelling my Mirror Image and such or wast it split to other spells.
Not sure I like the change if its split, I grew fond of SI since you can change click and pick a school and that's it, one spell with a lot of uses, splitting that to different spell kinda feels like a hassle and probably lead me to preparing my spells and rest before every major battle to accommodate the spell casters and whatever.
Also Breach seems way too great, not sure if its different but it list all the spells that it can dispel and there are a lot of fucking spells that can dispelled by Breach, and with the SCS component that makes it effect Liches and Rakashas. it might be OP or something? Not sure if its a good thing before trying it out first.
Jesus Christ, men. Never ever install fucking Grey Clan mod. This shit is ridiculous. Not only the storyline is unfinished, and given that the mod is abandoned, it won't be finished ever. But the intermediate fight with some tattooed and voiced NPC Grachus (who sounds like a total Marty Stu char). This fucker has: a) undispellable magic resistance, b) he summons multiple Winged and Sky Horrors when his HP drops below certain threshold, c) he has living tatoos (how original) which cast paralyze on the PC, d) he has unlimited Charm and Dominate; e) ton of Flamestrikes; f) I think he also has PWK, but I'm not sure; g) he constantly casts high level Globe of Invulnerability or some related spell, it's unlimited too; h) constant Mirror Image; j) deals shitton of DMG to Khalid who had AC -5 or somesuch, one hit ~25 DMG, i) and he fucking regenerates like crazy, so you can't even DPS with your thief. Gah. Managed to kill him with arrows of dispelling, arrows of detonation and blew a ton on potions of invisibility, but this shit isn't enjoyable.
Also the creator of the module designed this shit to be cheesed:
"It is possible but not easy to win the final battle without losing any of the party members. You need magic resistance (scroll, potion) on a warrior such as Minsc, good THAC0, Arrows of Dispelling. The rest of the party should be moved to the 'bottom left' (southwest) corner of the room except one character who should get magic resistance: when Petrarca teleports there, she will keep casting spells on this protected character (provided the character is the nearest creature to her). Meanwhile: Minsc should attack Octavia with Arrows of Dispelling and then with Acid Arrows -- meanwhile he must be running round all the time to avoid Teven's attacks. One or more spellcasters of your party should summon creatures (spell, wand) meanwhile, so if Teven decides to attack another party member, he won't be able to reach the character and will keep slaying the summoned creatures. The Sorceresses are protected by powerful magical shields, so it's very difficult to hit them with any weapon, keep fireing arrows. Teven will be an easy enemy once the sorceresses are dead, however, make sure not to attack him in melee combat. Power Word Kill seems to bypass the shield made by the Protection from Magic Scroll, so use potions on your main warrior who faces High Sorceress Octavia.
Here is a tactic that might be useful in the BGTutu edition of the mod. A player has written it on the mod's forum. It is as follows: My Bounty Hunter Imoen with her 'special' traps made quick work of the sorceress', laid a nice field of traps in the route that they usually took when approaching the party, then tossed a special trap, (they can be thrown) down at them it went off they started walking toward me setting off more traps as they went and hitting Teven at the same time, he was badly injured by the time he reached the party, then just engage him with melee MMM and MM's from Indra and Dynaheir. "
Also this mod messes up final fight with Sarevok it seems, on a top of SCS which already makes it quite tougher.
P.S. What's even more funny in all this, is that the modder is the author of fucking Black Geyser (hitting ass and leg itz heavan).
Heh, tell me about it.
Years ago I installed, tried and uninstalled it.
A shame there's so few good BG mods. Either it's ultra cheesy stuff or it's those infernal romance or creepy companion mods.
But thankfully we have SCS.
I quite liked the BG1NPC Project too (though not all content). Some of the NPCs are written terribly, but my faves - like Xzar and Monty - are done really well. I had fun playing an evil team with that mod.

Yeah, Montaron is definitely the best in this mod. He doesn't bore you to death with stories of his childhood and doesn't require you to be his psychoterapeutist, but mostly interjects in dialogues with others and actually *acts*.
like taunting Marl in Beregost tavern or shooting down the prisoner in the bandit camp)

Ohhh yeah, romance mods are really infernal. I don't mind original romance NPCs though, even if I install them by clicking the wrong checkbox on BigWorldProject. I either uninstall them, or ignore. They are good for maximum cringe, if nothing else. Especially infamous Saerileth and Tsujatha. Oh, and wasshisme. Nathaniel.
For some reason non-OC romance addons to existing characters annoy me more. Imoen, Sarevok, Haer'dalis, Edwin, Keldorn, etc. I think one of the few BG2 original NPCs who somehow resisted trying to make him romanceable is Minsc. Although maybe some enterprising deviant already remedied that.

Makes you wish they introduced Monty & Xzar as recruitable NPCs in BG2, as opposed to the mini-quest. Frankly, replacing Nalia with Monty would only be an improvement.
The only game that did romances well in my opinion was HotU (NWN). Have you had enough of the romantic blathering of your companion? Sell their soul into eternal slavery to the devils in Cania.
I just installed BGT on a new PC, and the problem is that when I try to save I get an error "Save failed, do you wish to quit?". I remember having this same problem a year ago and I somehow managed to fix it, but I can't remember how. Any ideas? If all else fails I'll have to install the enhanced editions, please help.
Even without SCS I'd recommend the original saga, because then you know mods will work, while with EE you have to check whether a mod is compatible with the current version (and often they aren't). Also, with EE you have to run modmerge (google it) just to be able to install anything, because apparently SoD makes a lot of mods incompatible due to the format it installs as.
I had fun with SoD(and I think it's a big plus that you can play it as a standalone, since your character & your team start out reasonably equipped), and I'm planning to give the BP a run someday, but otherwise stick to the originals.
edit - some mods for BG2:
1) BG2 fixpack - necessary
2) unfinished business
3) item and spell revisions (I play without it, but I think it adds replay value; also makes druids more viable as offensive spellcasters)
4) rogue rebalancing - without the chosen encounter, as that one is very difficult
5) BG2Tweakpack
I am not sure about the install order (because of the revisions), but apparently there is this tool (how did I miss this?!): https://bitbucket.org/BigWorldSetup/bigworldsetup/overview
which does the job for you, and also lists a lot of mods (works with BG2, BGT and EE)
There's not much difference between EE and original versions anymore unless you use specialist mods like LVL1NPC (which I happen to do) or have some aversion against a UI element or similar introduction in the EEs.
Pause a bit, if you will, at the irony that after some patches and mod updates we can now say that BG:EE is getting close to being as good as product as the original saga...
Unfinished Business for couple of extra quests, Romantic Encounters for lulz, SCS - just toggle most SCS options off and use the smarter spellcasting and better calls for help bits - maybe something else too as otherwise it's way too easy to cheese the game. There are multiple mods that make it possible to do all the stronghold quests if you want to see them all in one playthrough.
Item revisions turns cool stuff like gauntlets of ogre strength into 3.5 munchkin items that give +1 strength. It nerfs some items (Crom Faeyr) and buffs some items (no idea) to make the game more "balanced". Imagine if Josh Sawyer made a BG2 mod. It might be the mod that irritates me the most.
Spell revisions isn't as bad but I don't like many of the changes. And Druids don't need anything beyond insect plague anyway.
