prepare to be disappointed lol
Obvious truth is obvious. Still there this time before one gets disappointed when one can be full of hope.

Well its probably a publicity stunt to build some hype and good will before release of their new game.
Dunno if its gonna be free as Lindwurm but if its in similar scale then probably yes. I mean more content is always welcome but what we can realistically expect?
Some new enemies(maybe large ones), some weapons, maybe some background, new mini faction(?). Nothing that can fix any flaws in the game or some of the questionable designs.
Heck if it come with opening the game files you will get me excited but lets be serious - its not gonna happen.

Unless its gonna happen....
We gonna get full modding access plus modding tools plus fully re-balanced and full of content full expansion that deserve name Battle Brothers 2.
All aboard HYPE TRAIN.
Next station
DISAPPOINTMENT
.
Come on guys you all know its gonna happen.

Whatever it is - more content is always nice. I should've waited before starting another playthrough of BB though. Started just few days before they posted this announcement.

If this allows for more persistent and long term gameplay like Mount&Blade has, where you can buy property, build up industry, take over a town, form a faction, etc, then I'll go back to the game and invest more than a dozen hours this time.
I just wish it had more systems interacting with each other, some bandit bands attacking trade routes, reducing the wealth of the cities now not being connected, producing refugee bands fleeing the city, producing raiders chasing them, etc. Something the player can interfere in and change. This game just needs more gameplay than its combat. Its a solid core, but it needs a stronger shell.

Amazing, just a few days after I came here to complain after playing the game :D. Almost feel like some dev read our pleas and shed a tear.

I also don't expect anything big after so long, but really this game doesn't need much in the way of mechanics. Just more content and goals. More enemies, more contracts, another crisis, more background perks, more events, more items. The more the merrier. It is a sandbox game after all, it needs variety there. Some kind of fortress/settlement mechanic would be incredibly nice but I suppose that is too much work compared to just adding more events/enemies/goals.

Small or not, I hope they add even more expansions after this one. This game has a lot to be built upom. If they do it well I'm sure it will sell quite well.

New content is always welcome, but it doesn't mean that already existing mechanics cannot be improved. From the top of my head:
- Perk balance - some are so bad that you never take them (Lone Wolf), some are must have (Berserker, Killing Frenzy, Battleforged) while others are super situational or too gimmicky. Because of that most builds end up looking the same.
- Backgrounds balance - again, some are so bad that I just don't hire them (Peddlers, Miners).
- Caravan contracts - reward is calculated by measuring distance in straight line, so very often they are just a waste of time (wages cost more than reward).
- Payment negotiation - in current form it looks unfinished.
- End game crises - they last too long for what they have to offer. You end up doing the same special quests and fighting with the same enemy spam.
And there are many more issues that will be mentioned by people who have played for hundreds of hours more than me.

I've seen most perks used in various builds, I think they're fine. Maybe you can make a 2HAxe Bro with 'Lone Wolf' or a Swordmaster duelist in light armor with 'Nimble' instead of 'Battleforged (both would be too risky for me too though), Sergeants and 'Taunt'-tanks don't need 'Berserk' and 'Killing Frenzy'.

I wouldn't want my Peddlers or Miners to be as good as Hedgeknights who grew up fighting - but maybe they could be more useful outside of combat (better prices with a Peddler etc). I always take a Monk as Company psychiatrist for example, even if he never fights.

I agree with the rest, though I take Caravans to places I want to be 'Well Supplied' when looking for uniques.

I'm comparing them with similar cheap backgrounds, not the Hedgeknights, of course.

And when it comes to the perks/builds
(both would be too risky for me too though)
this is what I mean. I know that a nimble duelist is a thing, but I will never go for one, because there are better and safer options (we are talking about the game with permadeath, after all).

One thing I would certainly like is more reasonable/compatible trait distribution among recruits, or even better, being able to see the recruits traits and stats before hiring them(something quite logical). What is really nonsensical for instance is reading a description about a miner who "coughs up coal" or whose lungs "wheeze like rushing blades" and then luckying out on a miner recruit with iron lungs trait and such description, or reading a description about a fearless monk or brutal hedge knight deformed by countless battles and get a "craven" or "insecure" recruit. Locking up the traits with description lines is somewhat complex I know, but they should really at least make it so that certain backgrounds don't get certain traits.

Miners are not so terrible right now, at least as far as cheap recruits go. With the right stat distribution and traits you might hire one for the long go. They are certainly on average quite worse than brawlers and farmers for the same price range though. They also have no positive events(or any event at all, as far as I am aware).

Events are certainly a thing for below average recruits, at least for the monks. Apprentices, retired soldiers and swordmasters also have excellent stat boosting events.

Nothing other than better C&C is going take Battle Bros to the "next level" in my mind. The game does an outstanding job of allowing you to roleplay a group of dudes who go around killing stuff for money, but it doesn't do a good job of helping you find purpose to do so (other than the End Game crises, which public opinion has deemed lackluster).

And I don't want to be too critical because "get strong" is a not a bad goal -- it's just limited. After dozens of battles the question in my mind was "is this leading to anything other than more battles"? And the answer is essentially, no. You just enjoy the combat and character progression, challenge yourself against the different enemies, explore the world a bit. And that's all there is to it.

It's a perfectly good game but again, if you want to talk about something that would make it great, I think you need more than just fighting.
