So I played about 25 hours of the original release (at release time) and had fun, but had to agree with the opinion that content apart from combat seemed pretty repetitive and sparse. I shelved it and haven't played it since in the hopes that an expansion of some sort would come and flesh out the experience a bit more. I've read what this coming DLC has to offer and am definitely going to buy it, but I wanted some opinions from you veterans out there. Does this DLC seem like enough additional content to diminish those feelings of repetition and sparsity I had upon it's initial v1.0 release?

If you only got 25 hours of fun from the original, it's unlikely the expansion will change that for you.

I think you're getting more combat variety, a bit more on the merc management- but that portion of the game is still shallow. Honestly, that (plus enemy diversity but that has been partially adressed) is like the only thing keeping this from Xcom/JA2 tier for me.

It's good to see the game getting an x-pac.

Too bad the krauts won't earn a lot. After Steam's cut, a donation to Uncle Sam, and Germany's tax, they're left with peanuts.

Still, BB is a good game. It deserves more content.

Hmm. Might have to reconsider the purchase then. Thanks Prime Junta.

Last time they mentioned specifics we had 42 new events(likely to be more now), 5 new common enemies, 3 new "boss" type enemies, new contract types, a crafting system, an armor attachment system and some new weapon types with new abilities. Much of the content of this dlc unlocks late game(bosses, legendary locations, etc) and there are also minor improvements here and there(quality of life, new items, armor and etc).

So basically there is more content in the game and more reasons to carry on until late game to face new challenges(kraken!), but it will still be a sandbox game with sparse content. If sandbox is not your thing and you didn't take the vanilla game even through one of the crises, I don't think the dlc with change that. There is still no "story" progression and no final objective besides becomming a legendar company and beating the crises threatening the world(rinse and repeat if you keep playing the game, which doesn't have an ending).

I disagree. Considering the short dlc developing time, small team and the positive reception to the original game(it sold over 100k copies right?), this will probably be very worthwhile for them. It is one of the reasons why most players couodn't figure out why they abandoned it after release from a business perspective.

Not saying it wasn't worth their time, but what are they left with after all is said and done: 20%? It's banditry.

Burnout. They mentioned it on the Steam forums. They've been chipping away at BB for something like 5+ years. I guess you start hating the game after so long.

^Not everyone's the same. The level of insanity required to make something like AoD over a decade is clearly confined to a handful of individuals per generation. And I mean that as a compliment!

Also, I don't see any expansions coming for either Grimoire or AoD. It's not that they didn't patch or release the game properly. They just initially didn't want to develop a DLC/expansion for it due to this burnout.

V2 + manual for Grimoire (coming definitely next Friday.)
AoD took spinoff route with Dungeon Rats.
V2 is a "patch" isn't it? I mean OK this game in particular is no good example for other developers anyway, let's be honest. 20 years of development is already insanity
Dungeon Rats is a spinoff title - a different game (albeit in the same engine)

Any detailed info about the perk changes yet? I saw some posts on the steam forums claiming that Nimble now offers a flat hp damage reduction instead of a "50% chance of damage reduction" which means the perk is now pretty good. Also some nerfs to "brawny" and "battle forged" but no specifics.

Nimble
>75% of damage reduction to HP-1% for every FAT from items
Brawny
>25% less FAT from armors
Battle Forged
>now based on actual armor instead of max
Also supposedly Underdog, Reach Advantage, Killing Frenzy get nerfed.
2h, 2tile range melee weapons now have -15% chance to hit to 1tile range attack(yeah that mean the new light 2h spear suck ass as it also work with spearwall)

As I predicted Alps and Hags are pretty gimmicked enemies and most annoying ones.
Alps are best fought naked and its most boring snorefest I seen. And for hags everyone should carry a stick(as mind control suck balls and with them they can't really kill each other and you can stun them).

New armors and weapons are nice but some are just bad(aka Sectum and 3headed flail). I don't really see point of medium armors here.
Crafting take a lot of space in inventory and cost some dosh but some items are really nice and some just waste of money. Thanks god devs increase base inv space(a little) and add second ambition. Now you can get 160+ inv space which is nice(still not great but should be enough).

Didn't see many new events. Overall both events RNG and combat RNG looks the same so if you have problem with them now its the same.
Pay increase for costly backgrounds are really huge. Like really. Making most costly backgrounds less viable as cash is less available as its looks. Nothing change inloot drop so you better prepare daggers every fight with human enemies.

In the end its just more the same but the core problems are still here. Nothing really changes. If you like it now its worth if not then not.

The worst thing is complete lack of any modding. In Starsector or Mount&Blade you could just balance game for yourself but not here.

It's a DLC, did you think it was going to bring back emergent economy systems and fundamentally change game balance?

We already know 90% of what we are getting from the dev updates, and I find it well worth $10. Some people just seem really really hung up about the ability to hire the exact spec of bro they want, and/or larger party/inventory sizes, but I didn't really mind any of those things.
