Exactly as Gord says. In principle everyone's right, you basically can see everything quite soon. But I am always tempted to jump in and start a new map or play a couple more battles etc
It's the filthy larping that I like to be honest, all these mini stories you create in your brain.
But the game would be 100 times better with some more simulation, thats for sure

Your expectations are not realistic. I've gotten good 40 hours of enjoyment out of a 27€ game. I'd say that is a pretty good investment.

More simulation would not make me want to fight the same enemies in the same scenarios for another 40 hours, no matter how reactive the game was and how many unscripted wacky scenarios the simulation layer of the game could produce.

I'd definitely buy a DLC that expanded the content and maybe added more concrete end game goals and mechanics, since that's the most significant weakness of the game for me.

In the end it makes no difference how many unique game scenarios the simulation layer could produce, there are only so few times you are willing to realisticly go through the same process. Maybe if you had 2-3x the building blocks the game has right now, but that's hardly going to happen with the sales it has at the moment.

If you compare the game to say, X-Com, I'd say they have accomplished quite comparable feat. It is missing that little bit of tweaking that'd make BB a game I'd revisit year after year, but it isn't that far off.

I've no problem with BB, I love the game. But the simulation of a living world that sser described, that was in in previous versions sounded even more amazing.
If you think that enemy settlements actually had goals and the patrols were created based on those etc... Well thats amazing.
Absolutely worth its money already though dont get me wrong

In early access various rules and even the degree of simulation (as in, there used to be one) on the map changed quite often. New item tiers were added, uniques, constantly changing perks etc.
That caused folks to constantly restart their company and try the new stuff, new builds... That plus the travel time = lotsa hours.
Release build is quite different in that regard, but maybe they will add more stuff.

Heh I was playing some of my early hours on a craptop and everything was so slow you can not even imagine. I read book alongside fighting.
And yeah plenty of builds that few of them I still have on my hard drive. Game change few times, OH add plenty of things but I am not sure if this make game much more better.
And do not get me wrong. Its decent game and worth the money, just after all of this its kind of disappointing.
Too bad they abandon living world and just script it and in hurry they do not even do it well.

This is a game that is good for first 50-60 hours, then you play it for few battles per day, and no more. Then after few weeks, you ultimately ditch it, and revisit it after some major patch. But i wouldn't count on any major reworks -i doubt they will work much more on this game, it doesn't have much potential, beside lot of DLC addons with armor, weapons, and different themes. But there won't be any rework of core mechanics, or expansion of said mechanics. It took them almost two years to add crises.

As others have been saying, the game runs out of interesting fights after a while. I thought it was an interesting fight. The reward isn't sufficient to really justify it if you don't.

Yes. The type you get depends on the crisis (Nobles: Assassin, Greenskins: Orc Slayer, Undead: Crusader), but whether they show is a random event. Similarly, after the crisis ends, they will randomly leave.

They're okay. You won't ditch a level 11 bro for them, but they come in at level 5 and make the best replacement currently available if you lose a bro.

Bought this on release, could do naught but read this thread until last night when I had an hour. Veteran.

The Comrades of Juche had a promising start picking up two spears in the first fight, but their 3-man spearwall on high ground wasn't supported by sufficient bowpower and a traveling band of brigands simply ran all the way round to the back of the group. One costly retreat, and the band was broke and crippled.

The Brothers of Atlantis learned from the experience, and completed the first Hoggarth mission with flying colours aided by a trained bowman Thomas Sprat and the indomitable leadership of Francis Bacon.

Looks like the makings of an incredibly fun game, but that fun being solely dependent on the sense of precarity and attrition - which would wear off by late game or with player skill.

Stupid questions:
>Everybody seems to have single digit melee / ranged defences, does it work on a different scale than attack power or whatnot? Is it worth taking a dude with 3 melee defence and putting it up +1 or +2 a turn?
>What are good heuristics for morale? I can see how events effect individuals, but when do people lose morale in combat? Sometimes a massive but nonlethal hit seems to cause morale decline?
>Trade rule is buy from small production centres and sell to large towns, yes? I killed werewolf things and got pelts, but could never find anywhere to sell beyond fraction of value?
>Is there any incentive to explore the world beyond taking a contract and beelining each time? Are there hidden locations or whatnot, or do you just travel across cities and go on contracts?
>How much difference does camping make for heal/repair/etc? Is it common sense to camp each night in normal circumstances?

1. 1 and 2 points don't seem worth it. I would rather invest in something you get higher rolls in. Every stat is useful.
2. Morale is important. Some dudes will run and flee just having the undead approach. High resolve is a must, especially if you are going to fight geists.
3. Werewolf pelts isn't worth much overall. Get a tailor and keep some in your inventory and hope for the best *wink wink*
4. There is hidden locations and camps you can raid for loot.
5. Not sure, but I know it speeds up healing.

1. Chance to hit=attack skill of attacker - defense skill of defender +/- other bonuses penalties D100 roll, 5% chance to hit and miss always
Its worth to level up melee defense on melee characters and ranged defense on archers/xbows
2.When Hp is hurt over 15 points it trigger morale check, Fearsome perk trigger at any amount of HP lost, when 2nd+ enemy come near it can also trigger morale check, also dead comrades and comrades losing morale and panicking can trigger nearby resolve checks
3.Small villages that produce, with positive rep and no bad events and sell in big cities with good rep that not produce it and have no bad events or ambushed trade routes
wolf pelts are loot item and its sold as weapons and armors on average 1/5 worth or less
4. Yes. There are hidden enemy camps that you can fight. Far away locations have increased chance for rare items drop. There are also some named enemy camps that have special loot.
5.Its speed up time but if I remember correctly it do nothing other than reduced food usage(as food usage scale with terrain company traverse) but that could change as devs keep stuff hidden and do not tell anyone. Not really unless you wait to city open their shops.

is this a known bug or is my ssd breaking apart?

is this a known bug or is my ssd breaking apart?
I don't mean to alarm you but I have no such issues.. They actually fixed that delay between turns that I had. Maybe check the files in steam etc?

Same here. As of today I can load a non-combat save but not an auto save and can't start combat (either doesn't respond or gives me errors).

My troubles with save games started yesterday.

At least with Battle Brothers it is "only" 40 second save.
Divinity: Original Sin *tried* to make the save for over 20 minutes.

Perhaps unrelated Vault Dweller MadMaxHellfire , but does either of you use free version of Avast?
I've had some issues recently with saving games with some other games and I suspect that it might be the cause.

i've been having some small inconveniences lately, ever since one of the latest avast updates.
damn, there's not a single decent, reliable free antivirus anymore.

People are cooking up conspiracy stories about the RNG. It's pretty amusing. Some people there just can't believe you can miss 95% shots two times in a row, and the devs is somehow doing this on purpose to fuck with us :)

This is precisely why many developers "fudge" their RNG numbers.

I guess. I read the thing about nuXcom. Interesting stuff. I almost feel a bit cheated now when I know about it.
