Presuming they've put it on Steam to get more sales, why would they sneak it on to Steam without any press coverage or anything?

It's almost like they're embarrassed to admit they had to bring it to Steam.

This is through Atari, and I'm saddened to say we have not been able to reach an agreement around Steam keys yet. We're trying. Royalty-wise, Steam is making way more than we are per copy, so it is a bit bittersweet.

That's what happens when you don't own the rights to your IP~ Also not sure why people expect Steam keys when they bought a AAA (albeit old) game that has a major publisher from a third party retailer.

I'm not sure they're entirely aware of the ramifications of the publisher situation. They're thinking of BGEE as a kind of indie game. They bought it on the Internet for cheap, so that's how it feels.

How many bugs did they add, that they need this many patches with this many bugfixes? Didn't they use the fixpacks? At least as a guide?

I really have no clue what they even attempted after seeing the patch 6 fixlist.

This time they broke only the haste spell and APR of all ranged weapons (eg. bows are limited to 2 APR regardless of level and how many points are put into specialization)

ALSO.... they have "enhanced" the GUI. Note the new fonts used for stack numbers:

I'm pretty sure I saw fonts like that on my ZX Spectrum.

Also, I never noticed this before but the font for other numbers is irregular height but isn't old style lowercase numbers. Couldn't they have enhanced fixed that?

That patch list is promising, at least Overhaul are trying. The game is getting nearer to the point where I can say the Enhanced Edition is really worth buying. The game is no longer forced to scale to your resolution if you make an INI tweak, the mod scene is improving and many good mods are now compatible with the Enhanced Edition, you can get a much better GUI to replace the crappy one, most of the bugs have been fixed to the point where it's likely very close to the original game now, etc. The new content still isn't much good, and it's still $20 more expensive than the original, but...

... Okay, when I put it that way it still sounds like a poor deal, but at least now it's not laughably crash-prone and broken.

You mean the most common monitor AR out there? Gosh, we're such heathens. 1024x576 is the best 16:9 resolution for these games. Required a registry edit to work on my AMD card, but hooray!

1366x768 is OK too since you can run games that are 1024x768 with only a bit of letterboxing.

Which font are you guys referring to? The arrow stacks font? Isn't that the default font from the original game?

Why do you want so badly to like BGEE?
