Merida, again
Most of those are just shit porn games.

Isn't that the same?

Most of those are just shit porn games.
That's pretty big overlap with typical anime game.
Weren't some of the first anime games visual novels, some of whom with porn?
I'm not so sure, tbh. I'd assume it's not.

Many (if not most) of the games for the Japanese PCs in old times were what one would call visual novels these days, or the closest to that. They also were what one could consider "anime".

Sure, but we had arcade games before those Japanese PC games. And I'm sure there was many arcade games based on anime, so sure "visual novels" were not the first anime games.

The first outright anime games were probably the Japanese knock-offs of Dragon's Lair and some of those text adventures w/pictures they did. Visual novels weren't really a thing until the late '80s, and the first game said to be one is the NES release of Portopia Serial Murder Case, in '85. But that being one depends on your definition. And I guess what's anime also depends on your definition, because most blobs in their computer games are just as vague as non-anime blobs.

Tbh, Portopia has more game play than your average visual novel. I really enjoy those adventure games(either the NES ones like Portopia or interactive fiction ones), btw. MSX has some(include the porn ones) where you do need to type what you are going to do(with that horrible msx japanese keyboard, fuck that shit) instead of just reading a fuckton of texts and select one of 3 options every 3 hours.

Yeah, there's a nice sweet spot between where the Japanese abandoned full text adventures and before they decided that gameplay was for people who go outside where they made some enjoyable adventure titles. (Also, the MSX keyboard is shit too? Is there no Japanese keyboard that isn't hot garbage?)

Not only is every key a kana character, but it's all over the place:

Though my complain seems more about the layout, the MSX itself used to have some good keyboards, but since I had a Brazilian version, I don't know if it's thanks to that or not.:lol:

Wow, only five function keys, such inefficiency. I bet the Shift-keys often broke on these models.

I'd assume the exact opposite, to be honest.
