Didn't play BG3 but i like how compared to literaly every other character on this pic Astarion gets the least detailed portrait combined with "very popular" tag.

the multiplayer model has a helmet on - so he takes it off only in the cutscenes, it is just a polite thing to do when talking to others, otherwise a headcrab hit would be instantly fatal, instead of reducing armor, duh

EDF localisations take fucking forever so it's probably just a coincidence. The Japanese release was August 2022 so the Western release would have been incredibly late even with the planned release date. They don't need other games to slow them down, they're already slow.
