Creationists just want Intelligent design presented as another possibility along with evolution.
I don't give a fuck of what 'they' WANT
If they have a better theory, they should PROOVE it, or fuck themselves up; there's no place in the science for unproved theories, no matter how 'good' they seems to be

There are plenty of 'unproven' things in science (which are then, funnily enough, used as bases to prove other things)... we just accept that they are true.

They are called "axioms", they are accepted as obvious, therefore, they are taken for granted as true, and serve as a starting point for deducing and inferencing other truths.

Although, fair enough, if you were specifically talking about 'big' theories -- and not just principals --, then I pretty much agree (basically, I'm just saying that not everything in science is proven... far from it).

But anyway, I'll take science over faith anyday, let's see, everything around me (this PC, the television, the MP3 player, the sound system, et cetera) is the product of science... yet faith hasn't ever brought us anything concrete.

I'm dropping the evolution versus creationism argument, at least in this thread. This isn't a concession, rather it's my attempt to get the thread back to where it was. Yeah, parity between a thread's title and the content contained within isn't exactly a Codex hallmark, but with respect to the forum this thread is in, it has absolutely nothing to do with the general discussion of RPGs. If you guys want to continue to argue semantics and spin theoretical statements as fact be my guest. I don't want any part of it.

But to tie up loose ends:

Kraszu- Wikipedia is hardly an empirical reference. Even the language of the entry shows bias. For example, it makes the assumption that Archaeopteryx is a transitional form without addressing the holes in the theory. It reads like a senior high research paper, and one that would only get a C at best for lack of citations in key areas.

Wild Slop: Microevolution is proven. Species have adapted to climactic changes, acquired immunity to various toxins, and even spontanously switched genders out of necessity. That does not equal a dramatic shift into an entirely new species, which in simple terms is what macroevolution suggests. If you assert that there can't be one without the other, you might want to back that up with some examples. Otherwise, you're just offering an opinion.

good move, its sucking the life out of the best thread ever

just to make clear ,I didn’t really know if there could be one without the other…
but thought that with enough time micro would eventually lead into what is known as macro
(i think i'm just confusing my terms here... as in a "dramatic" shift over the course of many micro steps )

I was disappointed by the lack of levitation. I loved that in MW. I was also very deeply disappointed in the lack of diplomatic choices to end a quest. To me, any RPG should give a diplomatic choice. And some sort of in game consequences should be tied to what choices I make to resolve a quest.

I was also very disappointed in the absence of healer quests and opportunities. And with the lack of named saves, and skills not being tied to advancements in guilds.

Anyway, yeah, creationism, ID, whatever. The point in all of this, I think, is that evolution provides a nice, sterile explanation of things that relies on pure chance rather than an intelligent creator. The lack of transitional forms casts serious doubt on it being THE answer, but that's okay. Transitional forms are to evolution as the Garden of Eden is to creationists.

Exactly, average probability of random chances doesn't prove shit. If you take that train of logic none of history makes sense, everything that ever happened which was unlikely is ignored. Stalingrad was won by the Nazis because the odds were so far against the Communists etc.

Probability can be useful preliminary evidence but if you are a true scientist you have to go and find other kinds of evidence.

i tried out oblivion at my local games store a few days ago, and it blew me away, in the first few minutes of the game following the boss man around the graphics astounded me, so did the cross-hair in 1st person view, i loved how it would show you the oponents health while you are killing him. also i found a ton of lock picks, torches, some cool looking red clothes, some decent beginning weapons. i also liked how much you can customize a character physicaly, i only wish they had added some new star signs to the list. anyways, thanks for letting me rant about one of the best games ever made, i should have my 360 in a month, and i'll be getting oblivion with it.

Page after page after page of absolutely horrendous character screenshots. T&A galore, nipple bumps, Final Fantasy style characters, fucked up playable daedra, at least one blatantly homosexual argonian, and horse assholes.

Towards the bottom, Divine and August display an arena fanboy porn story and a creepy gay furry respectively.

Life is grand.

I went to the Phoenix Zoo once with my 5th grade class for animal research. We were walking by the Gorilla enclosure when one of my friends decided to start throwing ice at the gorilla. I was like "WTH?! Stop, Lee!" Then my other friend, Rachel started throwing more ice at it. A few seconds later, the gorilla hurled itself over the cage fence (at this point I was completely dumbfounded). He jumped down on to our side and ripped Lee's arm off, then beat Rachel TO DEATH with it. I had a hard time writing this post. Even though I hardly knew those kids, that was the scariest moment of my life. Man,though, by the time I realized the gorilla was going to make it over the fence, I was hauling butt.

I have to admit, I laughed.

I was hoping this thread would die long ago, because having this stupidity presented on a regular basis is depressing, but here's one more shovel to the heap.

Bio: Vilvan was born at Morrowind, Ald'Ruhn. He lived happy life for a while, but then he met dark brotherhood for the first time. They were ordered to kill Vilvan. Vilvan left his home to escape Dark Brotherhood. He travelled around, doing jobs to get enough money to bribe Dark Brotherhood. After few years, he got enough money and returned his home. He asked who had payed to kill him, and heard it was his brother. His dark and creepy brother. He returned to his home and lured his brother into a quiet ally, then killed him. The dark brotherhood heared from it soon and asked him to join. He joined, did many jobs and became pretty rich. His home town didnt like the idea of assassin living with them, so they gave him two choices. Leave from Dark brotherhood, or die here and now. Vilvan didnt want to leave Dark Brotherhood, so he killed almost everyone at their village. Finally, his own family tried to kill him. Vilvan killed even them. When he had realized what he did, he left his home and started new life as an adventurer.

I mean, I want to give some kudos for trying, because at least he's posting and using his head rather than just killing guards to impress his little brother on the xbox, but for god sakes. I haven't been this inept since grade five.
