progressed in Gemcraft: Chasing Shadows recently. While it might be one of best tower defense games out there, it gets somewhat grindy after 30+ hours.

Yup it becomes a little mindless like Diablo or PoE

I progressed in Gemcraft: Chasing Shadows recently. While it might be one of best tower defense games out there, it gets somewhat grindy after 30+ hours. I would appreciate more types of enemies. And some features, like the gem stealing spectre are annoying.

Eh, the specter is just a distraction for the most part. By the point it appears, you fart in the general direction and it is gone. 'cept one time I got it 10 times in a row for some reason... RNG?

Most of the game is just about getting the multi-hit, after that it is GG.

Dungeon Warfare is better IMHO.

I've got a friend who's been playing the Orcs Must Die! franchise as a side game for years now. He's picky with this games so I'd say it's at least above average.
For me the custom games in WarCraft 3 did it best, but even back then I wasn't a huge fan of the genre.

Not gonna happen but I wish there was a 3D gemcraft game for the PC

There are the Sanctum games who are 3D Tower Defense, but I haven't played them. Actually I've never played any TD at all.
