@sign would have been good, but another alternative would be to make it look like a link. Make it blue. Maybe underline it too but that might look like shitWhat is, then? You can test it out using Stylus and then share your solution. Unfortunately, I was overruled on adding an at-sign before the user's name.
I honestly didn't see the big issue with the @ but it made the autists jumpy.
