It's short, to the point
I remember thinking the game was all right up until the TWEEST.

I hope the twist is not that Atlas is Fontaine. I just killed Wilkins who basically seems to suggest that but i don't think they'd reveal something like that this early so it could just be a red-herring.

Id say the game has at least two twists, with what the fuck is your guy doing in Rapture probably more important

Ok so Fontaine is just some thug who backed up the Nazi scientist lady (who of course was a Dr. Mangele type from early age, 'cause i guess Germans are all born like that) to then sell the ADAM to Ryan, who of course was not only a strawman attack on law and order (with that parasite shit), but is now also a strawman against capitalism (the market must grow! Who cares if people die lmao).

The great and profound mind of Levine at work here.

In either case, who is Atlas (the game itself asks. The correct answer of coruse being who gives a shit lol). Guess he wasn't Fontaine after all that Wilkins guy was just paranoid.

Game has turned into a total cake walk btw. Wrench can one shot most enemies and everybody goes down easy one way or another now. Only exception is the Big Daddy but you get enough hypos to just heal up until they die. It's not like you gonna use those for anything else. And if there's another nearby you can just mind control one and have them kill each other.

Arcadia is pretty if nothing else so far.

If you thought Bshock1's story is bad, wait for the 3rd game, with a literally broken story that falls falt on its face, and so much the DLC retcons it... And kills the main girl because Levine was mad of the fanwork of her, so he killed her off so no-one else could have her, according to rumors.

It's not that it's bad (it's fairly standard for a 2000 game i have no issue with that it's par per-course), it's that the bias is blatantly obvious. We are supposed to dislike Ryan's "ideology" so he is shown as being irredimably evil just to drive that point into our brain with a sledge hammer. He doesn't like "freeloaders", a conservative poisition, so of course we get to see him string up the "parisites" and display their mutilated bodies, as all conservatives are wont to do amirite?

Lmao so i got to the part where Ryan gasses the plant lady and now we are onto private property bad (i guess Ryan loving guns is next?).

On a different note. Tenenbaum is actually a Jew, not German like i thought.

So is the Tweest that i'm Ryan's son? So this Jasmine's lady was carrying Ryan's child but she sold her fetus to Tenenbaum, who was working with Fontaine which drove Ryan into a murderous rage. But when i approach her dead body i get a flashback of that picture with the camera zooming in on my character's mother. I don't know if that's a clue that i'm literally Ryan's child (which means the people in the picture are adoptive parents), or it just means i'm supposed to be one of the many children Tenenbaum worked on. I'm leaning towards my character being Ryan's son purely it feels like a TWEEST and also because of the chain tattoos.

In the entire series I only enjoyed BioShock 2. Guess there’s a first for everything, in this instance complete agreement with Roguey

Well, just got through Hephaestus.

Given the negativity here i was expecting the "twist" to be really stupid but it wasn't bad. In fact, i understood the irony, since compared to Ryan (who died upholding his principles to the end, gotta give him credit for that) Fontaine is just a crass, worthless thug, meaning Ryan was eventually done in by the ultimate parasite.

I guess now the rest of the game is gonna turn really dumb with this Irish thug taunting me for the next several levels.

Lmao, while the twist that Ryan's dream was foiled by the biggest parasite on the planet was pretty good Fontaine is such a retarded character. I just faced him in person and why the fuck does he look like something out of a Monthy Python skit, wearing overalls and a comically "Irish" cap. Even Tenenbaum was sneering at him, told me to just kill the retard.

BTW, i'm waiting for Tenenbaum to turn on me. I wanna see Ken Levine do THAT, if he dares.

So i finally finished this thing. Last fight was pretty easy but then the whole game is a cakewalk, mostly becuase of the massive amount of resources the game throws at you. Even against Fontaine you get an healing station in the middle of the boss arena like wtf lmao.

The fact that it's basically streamlined System Shock does work a bit against it as someone else said. Things that made sense in System Shock are less functional here precisely because they had to simplify them. But even that isn't as much of a problem as the excessive amounts of recourses you get, which basically make most of the mechanics redudant. Towards the end i literally just killed all the splicers with the wrench with the self-heal skill and i was essentially immortal. I only ever needed to whip out a weapon for the Big Daddies, which is sad.

I think in the main what kills the combat is the slowness of your character and the fact there's no feedback when you hit enemies.

The only good thing about the game in terms of gameplay was the level design, which wasn't too bad. The story wasn't that bad either, though it was definitely more than a tiny bit pretentious. I also liked Ryan. Can't say the same for Fontaine.

Yeah, including Infinite.

Got them all in a sale might as well play them at least once.

Nice, Bioshock 2 significantly improves gunplay.
I personally loved Bioshock. In fact i dug out my original DVD and installed it on my WinXP machine for another playthrough, this time with EAX on. Ive also started System Shock 2 so it will be interesting to compare while simultaneously playing.

Just replayed this up to the fisheries, and yeah....it's bad, even playing with the Vita Chambers disabled.

Take away all the artsy stuff, and the gameplay is just poor. The whole thing is built around creative kills and trying to outthink your opponents as much as outgunning them, and yet the game itself has been built in such a shoddy way that it rarely allows for such an approach to flow well.

For example, in said fisheries, when you enter one of the first rooms it goes dark, you get locked in, and then splicers come at you en masse. In that room, there is a security camera, so I ran and hacked it before any splicers appeared, and then took cover in a side-room. The idea being the security bots wear some of the splicers down and then any splicers which then try to come at me in this room I have funneled through one entrance and finish them off. Good plan as far as I'm concerned.

Except suddenly, I'm getting shot from the side as I lay in wait for said splicers, because the game has decided to spawn splicers in this room with no other entrance. At first, I was unsure as whether one had snuck into the room or not, but then another 2 splicers spawned in the same spot after I'd taken the first out.

This is just shit games-craft and totally goes against what the game promises. Something like that would have been torn to shreds if released in the 90's.

Wank game.

It takes a masterful shit all over the vile kikess and by extension any and all bugmen who would go in on her "philosophy", but it isn't just a refutation of objectivism, it's a refutation of materialism and even secularism to an extent.
Admittedly, the gameplay might not be stellar, but it makes up for it in storyfaggotry and atmosphere.
And then Infinite comes along and has explosive diarrhea all over the bed...
In any case, you niggers are just cynical, broken people who can't enjoy anything.
It's like the Enlightment and its consequences have been a disaster for mankind seems to be the main idea of this game.
See? Lyric Suite gets it. Why can't you retarded niggers be more like this guy?
