To be an American, or a German, or a Frenchman, all those nationalities comport a set of specific traits tied to unique cultural and historical identities. What defines a Jew however is not adherence to a given identity, but rejection and hatred of alien identities. Where gentile identity relies on an affirmation of national or cultural entities, Jewish identity relies on the rejection of said national and cultural entities.

70 years ago I could have plausibly said that "what defines a German is hatred of non-Germans". Two motherfucking World Wars, man! Tens, hundreds of millions dead! What better evidence than that?

Except it's bullshit. Right now we have the archetype of the cynical Jewish-American modern, and yes, it's been an incredibly powerful one. But within a century, possibly even in the next few decades, it may well be a thing of the past.

What I do doubt is that it was ever designed that way

I just don't see why they'd try to represent the game that way if that wasn't what they were actually going for, since the video doesn't really seem to appeal to casuals and consolefags (the largest chunks of the gamer demographic) judging from the comments left wherever it's posted. Why shoot yourself in the foot like that?

I think Bioshock was the first in a short list of modern FPS's that I tried and never finished. I recall turning off the vitachambers and whatever other console stuff there might have been plus upping the difficulty a notch.

I, like many people enjoyed the atmosphere and I faithfully hunted down every data pad to listen to the on-going story. That part wasn't bad, I also remember at times being low on ammo and having a few good fights. Unfortunately it got rather boring and repetitive and simply not fun anymore. Like many supposed hybrid games it fails at both things. The RPG elements I eventually stopped upgrading because they didn't seem to matter anymore, I think there came a point where you could just switch them and the FPS side of things became tedious. Neither were done well.

An example is a game like Dark Messiah, you realize that the RPG-lite elements are just tacked on and forgettable but the FPS (slasher) part actually carried the game as well as the levels if not the story. At least one part of the game was enough to make it fun.

Not so with Bioshock. The story and exploring new sections just wasn't enough after that. I think I made it over half way through, just awhile after that amazing 'plot twist/surprise' with your original navigator guy speaking in your ear. I thought it was really stupid and couldn't believe that's what the writers came up with.

I knew there was a sequel, didn't know there was a third one on the way so add me to the list of people that don't care.

I'm guessing they were trying to rope in the hardcore System Shock players. You don't even need to market games to console fags these days -- they just go OMG LIKE WTF SO KEWL DAY ONE PURCHASE.

So, I'm not too sure about this game. I've seen vids, and I dunno, I guess I'm not really convinced. How linear will this game be?
Bioshock 1 and 2 were both linear, but 2 extremely so, practically on rails.
I guess I'm just not too psyched about this fucking game.
Is there any big reason that this game is so hot?

How does one go from making System Shock 2 to making Bioshock Infinite ?

from making Deus Ex to making Epic Mickey 2 ?

from making Ultima 7 to making Ultimate Collector: Garage Sales ?

from making Doom to making Rage ?

from making Fallout to making Diablo 3 ?

from making Fallout 2 to making (canceled) ?

from not making Syndicate but taking credit for it to not making Fable 3 and taking credit for it ?

Here we are, Codex.

Here we are.

After seeing the last trailer I'm already scared of the amount of scripted events u will have to bear.

It's amazing how they'll manage to make a game worse than Bioshock 1 and 2.

If the atmosphere is as enthralling as Bioshock 1 (from what I've seen it appears to be), it'll be a day one buy. The setting combined with a good OST wins me over every time. My only worry are the combat mechanics though the sky rails will make things infinitely more interesting.

Fucking genius.
But I think it'll be linear as all fuck honestly, and no going back to older hubs (if you even have them) in this game, much like Bioshock 2.

Marketing blew it with the non period music. What was that shit? It may thematically tie in with the game, but everything else about it was just terrible.

I predict that after managing to make an entire game set in a leaking, underwater city where it was not possible to drown they are now going to make an entire game set on a city floating in the air where it is impossible to fall to your death.
