the feature creep in bloodstained make it inevitable

I don't think it is an inevitability, however given how common balance issues are in RPGs it seemingly is. But even then there's "this is arguably unbalanced", or "this is obviously a bit unbalanced", which are acceptable, vs "this is stupidly unbalanced and completely breaks the game, wtf". The latter being a bunch of shit in BS.

This conversation is really funny when I replace the words Bloodstained and Hollow Knight with Baldur's Gate 2 and Pillars of Eternity

Production News
Development on new modes and the upcoming playable character continues.

We've had a longer than expected gap since the release of Classic Mode and the Kingdom: Two Crowns crossover in January, so we wanted to give a brief update on the current state of the game.

Despite the lack of news, development on new content for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been ongoing. However, due to major technical issues that occurred in the beginning of the year, our progress has been greatly delayed. We currently are working on creating new content along with resolving these issues and are finally getting close to announcing the next content.

The next update is coming soon. More details on this update and its features will be revealed in October. Once that update has been released, Chaos Mode with Co-Op and Vs Mode with multiplayer will be next. Both of these modes are already well into development.

We are excited to bring this new content and more to you as soon as they are ready. We will share more information with everyone as we get closer to release.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to add to and improve Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night!

I just picked it up again after stopping at Bloodless earlier this year. My experience mirrors Richard Simmons' above to a tee - way too easy, except Bloodless was suddenly hard. The game is overall well-made, but the poor balance choices and obvious kickstarter bloat are making me unable to take any of it seriously. FFS, did Castlevania need cooking and crafting? Portraits of nerds in hallways? Co-op mode that idiots on Steam are screaming at them to make? Easter eggs like Richter mode were cool because they were an unexpected bonus, but when they become an obligation the dev team is saddled with for years, it's just sad. Also, the music is nowhere near as good as SOTN, despite still being made by a genius. I guess the inspiration wasn't there.

If you're a veteran of the genre, you should probably start in hard mode at least. He won't fix item balance, but sotn balance was also trash.

I found the Main theme quite good

HA, I forgot how fun and goofy this thing is. I deleted my NG+ and started from scratch on hard difficulty for a bit of a challenge in the early bits. I'm aware you become super overpowered later on but the game is still fun as fuck. This is one of my favs.

Portraits of nerds in hallways?

Yeah they're mostly dumb. Ngl tho, some of the asian nerd lady portraits are getting me harder than a diamond in an ice storm. Would eat the booty. There's one in the machina library that just turns me into a wild man beast.

Also stop being stoopid. The game was clearly never meant to be taken seriously. "KILL THOSE MURDERERS DEAD!"

The new update made load times much shorter now, by about 50%. Nice. Only took them 3 fucking years.

Wow, Alfred or Albert or wtf his name is is a cheap cunt stain of a boss on hard difficulty. The little bitch boy just runs away from you the entire time while completely filling the tiny area with poison, curses, ice, etc that are impossible to avoid. I'd love to punch the guy responsible for this boss in the head. Maybe give him a little brain damage so he can never design a boss ever again. Wtf is this shit?

Okay it turned out he was pretty easy, I just needed to prepare for the fight. Damn my laziness.

A crossover with a decade old "indie" style game from Ubisoft was in fact the last thing I would have expected for Bloodstained. Her model and implementation doesn't look very good honestly, but at least it's just free content. Has anybody bothered to try her?

If I wanted to play as the ugly brat I would have just bought Child of Shite, but I didn't because Ubisoft games are terrible.

I played this about a month or two after release, is it a much more different game now?

It's got some different game modes and you can play the story as the lady vamp, the aforementioned child of light, and whatever the katana wielding dude is named so yeah you can experience it relatively differently or exactly the same depending on whatever you choose.

Out of the 3 extra characters so far, somewhat in the middle. Bloodless is the best because she has interesting progression and turns the castle on its head somewhat due to where you start.

Aurora's main gimmick - after you kill the stained glass hand boss, she gets unlimited flight. She has a very small selection of shards that don't particularly come together in a meaningful way, and one big problem is that her light spell's gimmick is broken - it wants you to hold down and "charge + release" it but it's much better auto-firing by mashing the button. There's some very minor NPC interaction compared to the other modes, but not enough to be satisfying if for some reason you were actually a fan of the source material.

Does the story react differently to you playing a different character?

Not particularly. For example, Zangetsu only gets a different final boss and his only special dialogue there - otherwise he fights Zangetsu bosses in the storyline just like Miriam and other silly quirks of Castlevania alt modes. Bloodless is entirely silent with no plot and Aurora is only slightly more talkative than Zangetsu with the same caveats of fighting the same bosses etc
