I don't think they're gonna send out a physical box containing half the game. That'd be stupid. No one wants that.
Well, if it meant receiving two boxes...

I can't believe I backed this for the fucking special edition box.

I've really liked the t-shirt though. Quality fabric, feels nice, looks kinda nice.

So there's actually more of an edge in the story with girl than I was expecting. I thought it was going to be wide-eyed innocent gets captured by monster, tries to stay alive. The direction of not liking the situation and outright wanting to kill the monster is a welcome surprise to me.

What I'm really interested in is the game's difficulty level and puzzle design. Does Tim even still remember how to do adventure game puzzles? I guess we'll know soon...

I don't understand. Is there any reason to play this game now and not wait until it's complete?
They assume you've played the first part to completion in the documentary from now on, so unless you want to wait until the full game is out and binge-watch the rest of it after playing the game, you're gonna get it spoiled anyway.

For non-backers, just impatience like tuluse said I guess.

Looks amazing, cant wait to try it out tomorrow.

Dont understand why some posters here are so insecure about their masculinity.

Because we saw the same movie happening 20 years ago.... Sierra had just released King Quest VI (IMHO one of the best adventure games ever), but then someone decided to do a Disney-like sequel, appealing to kids...

I doubt it will be shit, but I also doubt that it will get anywhere close to Full Throttle, DotT or Grim Fandango. The theme and personality of those game were a HUGE part of why they were so good.

Then that is your mistake. If you're going to compare each new adventure game to your childhood memories you make it really hard for yourself to enjoy a new adventure game.

Because after the great collapse of 2001, civilization went into decline and lost all resources and technology to make great games?

What kind of scenario you live in, that it is simply impossible to make a game as good as they did 20 years ago? Especially when said game was sold and marketed as a return to old-school games, by the very same guy that made those classics...

As with all trailers and pre-release marketing hype, there is absolutely nothing to indicate whether this will be a great or horrible game. I personally have high hopes as every game I've played where Tim Schaefer was directly involved has been gold (caveat: never played Brütal Legend). We'll see later today I suppose.

Yes you can make a game as good as the old ones, but making a game that can compete with your nostalgia is much harder. My point was that I have the feeling that many people idealize these old games since they have very fond childhood memories about them.

Don't know if thats the case for you, but I think people mostly long for the feeling they had when playing these games as a teenager. For me I'm now more rational/skeptical/cynical/grown-up/less romantic/less naive etc and thus dont get the same enjoyment out of these games anymore. Think its more that then the actual quality of the games.

Bullshit. Those games are simply that good, there's no nostalgia involved. Last year I replayed DoTT, Grim Fandango and Monkey Island 1 & 2, and they all are absolutely brilliant.

DoTT was even better than I remenbered.

Those games are really good, not because of nostalgia. But neither because of the atmosphere alone. An adventure game can be good if it is a more lighthearted than the ones you mentioned.

If you watched the Broken Age launch trailer you can see that the game is not serious, but not kiddy either, it is somewhere in the middle.

Regarding Broken Age, the art and atmosphere itself seems to have copied the style from that awful Adventure Time cartoon. Maybe the game is not that kiddy, we'll see. In any case, I missed pledging to this game at the time, but I would have done it based on the awesome kickstart video. Now I would be regretting it.

I've read that there is an embargo on backers posting their impressions of the early copies they get until the date the official review embargo for magazines and sites is up. Not sure how ethical that is.

Backers working at review sites and running blogs are under embargo, sharing your impressions on unofficial sites (like the Codex) is allowed according to the latest update. They just ask to be sensitive about spoilers.

But I just noticed this part:
You may recall that at one point Broken Age was planned for release under the Steam Early Access program. This is no longer the case. For various logistical reasons, and because we believe Act 1 is a polished and satisfying piece of content in its own right, Broken Age will be a standard Steam release that includes a “Season Pass” granting access to Act 2 once it is complete.
So early access is scraped, because Act 1 is polished enough for be a "normal" game. Good.
