Why does Cyberpunk look so shitty with any settings on any resolution? This distortion in the distance:

n3pVZng.jpg

Is V drunk? Is his relic malfunctioning?

Do you have depth of field on? Looks a bit like that plus FSR ... though there's something else that almost looks like a watercolour filter in postprocessing.

Was Perkel right, did turning FSR off fix the above? I get some blur from DLSS and I'm on a much lower resolution, but it usually looks fine, whereas the far field in your screencap looks like it was put through a Photoshop filter.

I do agree about the pop-in, though. I didn't notice it as much when the game was fresh, but now I see it all the time. Lights, shadows, LOD assets, it's all quite visible in range. Might try that draw distance mod, but I'm not sure I can accommodate a further performance hit.
Yes, it absolutely did. I'm an idiot is he short explanation.

I've been playing around with the Dynamic Resolution Scaling switch, but once you turn that on, this sets your FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 to "Auto", as well as FidelityFX Sharpening to "On".

When you turn Dynamic Resolution Scaling back to "Off", however, FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 stays at "Auto", and god only knows what internal resolution was being used to render your game.

Having 55k players in the last 24 isn't bad.

Having those 55k players be 1/16th of what you had at launch is bad.

I reinstalled this just to run the benchmark. I'm going to just start posting this in reply any time someone asks me why I bought a 3080 for 1080p

This in itself doesn't say much about why you bought a 3080 for 1080p. Can you also tell us your graphics settings?

Everything on max, including ray tracing and screen space reflections set to psycho. Film grain, chromatic aberration, depth of field, lens flare, and motion blur all off because those all look like shit and I turn them off in every game. The fact that I can average 55fps with those settings and no shitty DLSS cheats justifies the 3080 and staying at 1080p to me. My monitor is 240hz so I'm not going to be maxing my refresh rate in any game even with the 3080.

SSR on psycho is not really needed, but I guess you knew that. Digital Foundry actually suggest keeping SSR at Low :)
Meant to ask about that - can I even see it anywhere? I had it on Ultra, was curious to try Psycho, but I never noticed any difference in either framerate or image quality in the places I tried it.

SSR, Volumetric Clouds, and Ambient Occlusion are the most taxing options. The others are not very significant. DF have a good video on optimizing Cyberpunk, though it's always up to your personal taste.

I don't know with certainty, but I think even if you stand next to a shop window and watch people passing, thats handled by SSR. Also sidewalks in the Downtown area, stuff like that. IDK, I guss it depends a lot on your screen resolution, but I do feel an impact when I'm playing on 1440p.

There is no SSR setting called psycho. You are confusing Screen Space Reflections with Raytraced Lighting which has Psycho option which WILL hammer down your PC regardless of what you are using.

You can only see raytracing settings if you have raytracing capable gpu 1080Ti can't do it.

SSR doesn't cost much regardless of setting used.

There is Psycho SSR:

It's effect is tied a lot to your screen resolution obviously. Here is the video https://youtu.be/pC25ambD8vs

Why? People play RPGs like Cyberpunk, and even if they like it they don't come back to it for a while.

I'd guess most people are waiting for more free DLCs or the first expansion.

It's because he maxed out ray tracing and stuff.

Yeah, I get a stable 60-70fps with everything on psycho at 3440x1440 with DLSS. Cyberpunk is a good example of why I went for 1440p UW over 4K.

GhostCow , what's your opinion on the raytracing? Overall does it make a huge difference now? Did you think it makes a difference before the patch?

Hard to tell really. On one hand you have nice local shadows, some cool reflections and some additional correct lighting. But C77 looks great even without it as they either way introduced baked in GI and other fancy stuff.

So my take is. If you have shitload of FPS you can switch it on, if you don't don't bother.

Personally i use only local shadows which imho give the most bang for you buck and you can see actually effect of it.

It's noticeable if you're looking at side by side comparisons. It's not really something you think much about when playing the game. I'm more excited for ray tracing as a way to cut dev time and costs than anything but the more accurate reflections and lighting are certainly nice.
