What is this currentyear kids' fascination with Shreck? In my memory it's one of those "subverted" children's tales from the early 2000s with atrocious 3d animation and forced humor that's supposed to keep the parent engaged as he watches the same movie for the 7th time because his kid wants it.

Nah, it's just a meme propagated by boomers who grew up with the series.

No boomer grew up with Shrek.

I'm a boomer and I grew up with 101 Dalmatians, Beauty and the Beast, etc when it comes to animated features. Lion King already seemed a bit too avant garde, Hercules was too modern, and with Mulan they completely lost me.

The first 3d animation feature I tried to watch was Toy Story. I thought it was shit. Never bothered with Finding Nemo. I've never seen Shreck either. I'm vaguely aware that TV channels play it around Christmas time.

Anyway, back to Cyberpunk - Gargaune what is your crowd density setting?

I keep Crowds on Medium, I'm wary of throwing more at the CPU due to thermals. Why?
I was going to advise you to set it at medium. I discovered that all the internet advice that crowds density doesn't have any impact were made under the assumption people's CPUs are relatively recent. I remember you have the same CPU as me - 4790k. Dropping to Medium gave me some fps gain, but actually the biggest gain came from removing "Next-Gen Crowd Distance LOD and Density". It feels actually fun to suddenly be rolling around the city in 4K at ~45-55 fps.

By the by, been meaning to say you need this in your RadioExt:

Oh yeah, you can never have too much of GTA talk radio. So innovative it was back in the day, now you just need to tune into some pundit's youtube channel. No need to seek inspiration any more.

BTW, some of that photomode shit is pretty advanced:

Appreciate the thought but I'm running a 9700K, you're probably thinking of someone else. My problem isn't actually the CPU load itself, it's got headroom, but my suboptimal case cooling struggles to clear the heat buildup when the GPU's also running at full tilt. So I capped my FPS to 50 and set the Crowds to Medium, just about does the job.

There's actually indication that CDPR will be shipping a new, super-duper Crowds setting in the next patch, already got datamined and modded in. But yeah, ain't touching that.

It's the game's premier feature. Get Photo Mode Unlocker and Photo Mode Tools, then you can go to town playing CyberJPG 2077.

Yep, I'm hoping they didn't ship it in 1.6 because they want to optimize it more :D

Day 451

Picked on a pedestrian. He was rude about my culinary choices. I punched him in the face. He pulled a gun. I punched him a second time. He disappeared into thin air. Spiderman foiled me again.

I dunno if my save's bugged or CDPR just can't put two and two together, but since patch 1.6 my perpetually sunny days have been replaced by perpetually foggy days. I've gone from playing in Cyber Miami to playing in Cyber London. And for those of you who only know London by reputation, no, that's not an improvement - this new weather ain't gloomy, it's BORING!

Oh, God, I didn't even know there was a hotfix. There's a ton of stuff that can break, obviously, but Redscript's the first thing I'd check. And indeed, it appears that one and Cybercmd are throwing CTDs now, see comments on the Nexus.

The "Mod Settings" mod is busted. The author has conveniently disabled comments, so I guess he is aware: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/4885

Same for "Input Loader". Same author: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/4575

This leaves me without Wannabe Edgerunner, Ped Damage Overhaul, Muted Markers, Limited HUD, Always First Equip. Only the first two are more than cosmetic. Guess I'll have to wait for Mod Settings to be updated, no point in messing up my savegame by swapping out mods in the middle of a playthrough.

Noteworthy addition is official support for AMD's FSR2.1 (there was a mod that jury rigged it but the author said it was a temporary hack until cdpr added it). Testing it now. There's noticeable flickering on the inventory screen but maybe I don't know how to use it. Go to Config -> Graphics to play with it, if you're not using Nvidia's DLSS already. Speaking of that, no DLSS 3 yet. Wait for 1.7 maybe.

Explosive damage supposed to be fixed (was underpowered), which might include the rowkeet lawnchair arms augment.

Also you can't play Roach's minigame on the arcade machines laying on the ground, which should have been left in.

Night City NPCs will now carry umbrellas in various colors and shapes.

Shit like this might seem tiny, but after playing Persona 5 I have a newfound appreciation of umbrellas. Even before playing P5 it was sometimes bothering me to see NPCs just not react to the rain at all.

As of 1.61 the iconic gun "Crash" has the quest item flag thus cannot be removed from inventory and to nobody's surprise searching for "cyberpunk 2077 crash" gives completely different results.
