Interview Chris Avellone is still pretty mad about Obsidian

The Codex has a long history of mental illness. Do you noticed how VD talks about his child from time to time? That is just an imagery of the inner child that he lost after he stopped all forms of shitposting and decide that everyone must be serious. In fact, you could argue that Infinitron and J_C became deranged into cucks out of our excess of negativity towards developers, and Crooked Bee became a deranged jRPG weaboo degenerate due to the excess of hate against Japanese stuff. Codexers are damaged goods.
So you fit right in.

My point is it's idiotic how people think things like shitbombs, Pinky and the Brain and LOL-not-Tom-Cruise are better.
Your point is pointless, because you are talking about some virtual people, that I hope don't exist on Codex, or if they exist - their opinion doesn't matter much.
Actually the violence level is lower than ever. Its just we got enthernet and if someone pooped in public or got knife in a stomach - we know it.

No, but I didn't expect him working alongside Satan either. The only way he could redeem his soul is if he goes kamikaze and blows himself up along with Tod Howard and Bethesda office.
And Tim Cain said more than one time that Oblivion, Fallout 3 and 4 are great... the influence of Bethesda go WAY beyond internet discussions on gaming forums and you don't cross powerful publishers. MCA on more tha one ocasion said game development on US is a very, very small world and you don't shit talk people like we do here on the codex without expecting consequence, you WILL work with people that either worked for some big publisher or you will work with some company with some deal with some big publisher and they will cut you off if they think your opinions are harming their access to publisher funding, you don't offend the people with money, unfortunately that is how the gaming industry, Hollywood and pretty much the whole entertainment business work.

We'll see soon enough if Chris actually had decent stuff or if it was rightly binned.
Keep in mind that the people that binned his work are responsible for the mediocre work through and through we saw at PoE with only two characters being interesting on the whole game and the two made by Avellone (maybe with exception of Ederr, he was decent too). I wouldn't take anyone at Obsidian seriously at judging quality, especially, with this horrendous writing comming from Tyranny.

You're saying that like it's a bad thing.

I’m just messing with you. Codexers have this tradition of using the racist card against things they enjoy, animes included. I think that a few animes are really good or at least have some really good elements, but the genre as whole sucks.

Kevin Saunders and George Ziets are universally beloved.

Sawyer was also popular here, before he was trashed for PoE combat. And making it real-time wasn't even his decision.

No, he was trashed for promoting the belief that traditional cRPGs were wrong in allowing players to make mistakes and bad builds, and for saying in the most arrogant manner that he, the hotshot, got it right. He deserves all the heat and then some.

And could it perhaps even be possible that our beloved icons are just honest and actually really simply like games like Fallout 3 and Oblivion? :M

I remember when someone posted Tim Cains steam profile with many hours in Fallout 3 on it and people here were like "B-but S-senpai is surely only doing s-some research!!"

Quite contrary - new information invironment makes it easier to hide real level of violence, because there are so much information, raw and unfiltered you are buried with it.

I notice that there are two types of posters that always deny unpleasant facts about developers. The fanboys and the politicians. Fanboys are irrational, while politicians are self-interested. Fanboys think that developers are sacred and deserve blind adoration, while politicians treat every post as an opportunity to ass kiss forum moderators. They are opportunists who always walk on eggshells around polemic topics. Fanboys have a stupid spontaneity about them that is sincere, even if it is unjustified, while politicians have a calculated and careerist mentality that is completely rotten.
Well, shouldn't be someone else in between?

To be fair nobody could kill wolves with that character. He made a character with no combat skills because people convinced him Arcanum is a game you can talky talk through.
Actually Arcanum stayed true to its Victorian inspiration, monocled gentlemen that could use a weapon while facing unknown perils in the wilderness.
Only typical RPG autism can find something wrong with that.

Would tactical combat games even be enjoyable if your long-term dayjob was creating crpgs? I mean, wouldn't there be a point where you're so familiar with what's under the hood that you can't enjoy those mechanics.

If so, then wouldn't your preferred games become ones where you can just cruise around and check out graphics/engine/environments, and have a bunch of little things you can dick around with like a sandpit, without challenging combat getting in the way? Like every Bethesda game?

I'd imagine that combat in particular would be an annoyance. Wouldn't be an issue of 'cool, strategy and tactics', it would just be this irritating content-gate. Ultra-casualisation but from the opposite causal end.

Why on Earth can't anyone make a Skyrim-type game with TB combat, sort of like Wizardry 8? If Avellone or anyone else can pull that off, I'd play it.

MCA made a couple of really good games once.

Bethesda made a couple of really good games once.

Why is one of the Jesus and the other, Satan?

One's a person, the other is a company.

A lot of people really like that jerk Kirkbride, he's Bethesda's MCA.
