Merchant's guild. Set aside from the rest of the city, pretty but not opulent, filled with people wearing fucking uniforms. Pretty clear where you are.

20211216154518-1.jpg

Market. Colored streamers hanging above your head, market stalls everywhere, a bright red town crier shouting on a platform. Completely unmistakeable.

20211216154615-1.jpg

Volker's mansion and the bathhouse/upper class bar. Near the entrance to the old town, but still accessible to everyday people because Volker isn't that kind of rich guy. His business demands that he be able to meet with clients from all walks of life. Beautiful flowered walkway nontheless, though, so that people from old town can access the bathhouse without having to travel through a poor part of the city. Utterly unique.

20211216154715-1.jpg

Artisans' district. Clear sounds of work being done, no unnecessary decorations, high walls and tight alleys because buildings have lots of storage. Right next to the guard headquarters, because they obviously have the closest relationship to the city blacksmith and armorer. Braindead obvious stuff.

20211216154731-1.jpg

Church district. Clear high point of the city if you enter from the harbor, accessed via very distinct archways if you're coming from the other direction. Edge of the city so that graves can be dug in soil, likely predate the church.

I get it, it's a big and confusing city initially and, like we all did when we were kids, you're getting frustrated and calling the game dumb because you aren't grasping something immediately. But your complaints are just factually inaccurate.

but that's why they included notice boards which update your journal with the exact name and location of everyone who sells things or teaches things, and annotated maps.
OK. Why do you think they had to add those stupid notice boards and map with markers?
Because they didn't believe that they had well enough level design so that the player would find all the important people.
So they took the idea of Witcher 3 which also has horrible city design with Novigrad.
Because they wanted to include enough NPCs that the city would look likely and believable while still making it possible to easily find everyone and everything. You cannot have both without the solution they included. The city has four vendors that sell blacksmith supplies alone.

Church - church is great, i wanted more buildings like the church

The city has four vendors that sell blacksmith supplies alone.
Maybe... It's too big for it's own good then.

As I have a high-quality brain that works good, I have no trouble keeping track of everyone and everything in the city and am glad they did not dumb it down for... accessibility's sake

I found shells. You can learn that from the hunter guy near the Wolf Fortress or whatever it's called. Where did you learn how to take reptile tongues?

Take insect mandibles
Take hearts of demons/golems
Take turtles shells
Take shadowbeast horn

I'm not sure if you can take crawlers shells in this mod. Learning how to gather turtles shells does not allow you to gather crawler ones.

Learning 2nd level of alchemy or doing alchemist apprenticeship quest also allows you to take seeds from dead animals to make potions.

Do you even sleep or have a job and a family?
Do you even lift bro? But to answer your question, I make my own hours and my sleep schedule is irregular (thanks to the release of the mod, ngl).

Wow this came out of nowhere for me. Still mucking around the first town area and getting wrecked by stuff. Definitely scratching the Gothic itch.

The brother stuff feels a little out of place (maybe just because it kinda sucks so far), but otherwise.. Awesome.

I agree. After a few quest in the city you know how to access every district, all the streets and shortcuts.
If compared to Khorinis it's bigger and it has less thing to do the first time you visit it but after you join a faction and progress a little in the main quest it starts to give you a lot of quest and random events.
Very nice city in my opinion. Also it has scary sewers that is a pro, finally you can use torch or light spell.

Anyone aware if there are any Gothic 2 mods that make the first person mode more viable and fixes the awkward X/Y axis movement or if there is a way to remove the forced "lock-on" effect that happens whenever you look at another character? It's been a while since I played Gothic II, but just started playing through this total conversion and am finding myself immediately annoyed in the shiphold over how every NPC seems to be a ultra-massive cosmic object in the sense that it feels like my character is about to be pulled into a black hole within the core of every single character I pass by. It's very unpleasant.

"Oh noes someone wants to know if there is a mod for better controls for this decades old game that has been consistently modified for many years! In fact the very topic of this thread is a modification! How DARE they want a modification for this modification! That makes me upset because I'm a complete and total retard! REEEEEE!!!" - Literally you.

I finished it. Sweet mother of mercy. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood. So much C&C, awesome music, the whole thing... few ending sequences made such an impression - even with the suspense being undercut by the game crashing and losing me an hour of progress right before the final battle. Took me ~55h, will play again. 11/10 Glorious.

There is no need to be upset.
There might be a first person mod for g2 though, not sure why you want to play this in first person anyway.
