Did anyone actually use the woodcutters' camp method to get inside the City?
How many ways are there to get into the city? I didn't really bother looking for alternate routes because the Silbach mayor just gave me a pass after a very simple quest (and doing simple quests == free xp).

I know that you could help the trader from the city in Silbach, to find people to sell her stuff. Once you do that she will tell you that you can enter the sewers to enter the city. But honestly the quest the Silbach mayor gives you is so simple that there really isn't any reason to take any alternative paths besides for more XP.

I found it pretty retarded that you can't swim to the docks because of that crossbow guys.
Same with Scoundrel's Haven

Also you can enter the city by hiding in the merchant's barrel that got stuck with the broken cart wheel outside the east gate of the city, near the statue of innos.
To do this you must first get to chapter 2, find out the details of the kidnappers and their direction to the city and find that you cannot enter without a recommendation by talking to the guards at the entrance.
Once this is done you can go to the merchant, give him a good wheel and ask if he can get you into the city.
This also unlocks an achievement.

Now that I think about it, during the first chapter there was a quest where Otho, the one who stands next to the shepherd and attacks you if you try to enter the stable, wants to take revenge for a wrong suffered by another villager by putting sheep shit in his bed.
If you betray him and tell him what he wants to do, the other villager reveals that a guard at the entrance to the city is corrupt and if you give him a password and 75 gold coins he will let you in.
I tried but none of the entrance guards gave me a chance to do so. Either I did something wrong, or it's a bug ... or that asshole screwed me. I do not know...

However, I also came in with Albyn's recommendation. In the end it is the simplest and most profitable way.

Getting smuggled into the city inside a barrel is even easier!

Someone in Wolf camp collects wolf skins (one of each sort), and the winter and desert varieties count as curios.
Someone higher up in the thread mentions getting rewarded a suit of wolf armor for this, assuming you also don't rat him out for his pet (night guard quest). All I got was a ring, a decent one, but still.

I probably missed something in the Vardhal dungeon. Did you find any purpose for the will-o-wisp? Or the skeleton dining room where there's frequently a monster growl? Or the poem (which I first suspected was part of a puzzle)?

Nah,you get the armour for doing all the quest, not only those two.

Also it seems that the guard armour is the best in the game,at least for me. I assume that jew's guild have similar one. But the end game armour you find in the ruins is pretty meh,tho it looks cool. Just get the higher level of armour and go upgrade it and it will be vastly superior.

You can supposedly get a god gamer version of the Vardhal armor if you give Stone all the extra resources he's requesting (a smithing book & 4 other items). I couldn't do it because I lacked black wolf skin, and couldn't find it in the dungeon. Maybe the god gamer version is shit as well, though.

How different is the swordsman armor from the crossbow one?
It looks less cool, that's for sure.
It's stats (when upgraded)
77 in edge/blunt
82 in projectile
17 fire/magic.
No idea what the stats are on crossbow one.

I doubt that it will be stronger than the fully upgraded armour. Also pretty retarded idea of having to meta game shit and know what hides you need,to get it.

Damn. I did not know there were so many ways to get into the city. Most quests usually have like 2 or 3 ways to accomplish a task.

A question: who can teach you how to extract teeth and fangs as trophies, and where is that person? I already have all the trophy skills from the two hunters just outside Silbach, and I'm slowly clearing my way to another trophy trainer at the castle, but I'm losing money by killing things with teeth I can't extract.

Who can teach me how to remove fangs from animals? I talked to both hunters in Silbach, but they can't.

Have you found the answer?

Lots of people can teach that. Off the top of my head, Gaston near Wolf Lair's gate, Nirka in the city or hunter commander whatshisname at Guild HQ should teach you.

I wouldn't stress it, actually. As someone who thought I should clear the map as much as possible before getting into the city I will be the first to admit; I did it wrong. Get into the city, you don't transition to chapter 3 (triggering a fauna respawn) for a long time. You can do all that map clearing with city access, which gets you:

  • Better armor, fairly easily gotten
  • Ability to harvest seeds from all killed animals (alchemy artisan)
  • New trophy taking skills (I forget her name, check notice board)
  • New WANTED quests to complete while you bum around the island creating endangered species
  • Working through new quests gained in the city, yet are solved in areas outside the city

This was my lesson learned the hard way. It would have been more fun to clear the island if I was doing all of that, instead I austitically cleared almost everything, got into the city, and then had a lot of quests getting me back outside the city again - all in chapter 2.

To answer you question: I learned extract teeth / fangs from the hunter outside of Wolf's Den. He needs a special dark beer to train you - one I got in the city :)

Sorry to double-post, but a question for those who are familiar with most of the secrets in the game:

In Silbach, near the fishermens' huts:

is a double tiered waterfall, behind which is several frogmen, a sealed door and a note left by a captive of the frogmen. The note indicates that "only a true king of thieves" could get inside the door. Does this mean only master lockpicking would open the door? it's a bit confusing because this door does not even register as locked, "door" doesn't appear above it when i interact with it. it doesn't open, but there's no feedback like "needs the right key" or "stuck" or anything.

King of thieves makes me think of expert lockpick or king sorrel, neither of which makes sense in the context of the door giving no feedback. maybe i'll try turning into a meatbug and working my way under it...

Q7Xj16p.jpg

edit: literally bugged through the door’s edge as a meatbug. I’m going to loot the chest to see what it is, but without another scroll I’m stuck

edit 2: nvm, i'm dumb. you just pick the lock on the door like normal
