So, how many inhabitants did you manage to get?

I'm still just above 200k, and there is already no noticeable difference between the different speed settings.

Death wave are a direct result of zoning too much too quickly. It's a consequence of building the infrastructure of a new area, all the roads etc, and then zoning it all in one go. The Cims in this game all reach an age (let's say) around 95-100, none of them die at 60-90 or even earlier unless they get sick from pollution or sewage water in the pipes. So you zone a large residential area, 10k Cims move in, and in 100 in-game years, they all die at once.

You can either get the mod that adds more "random" deaths (it also increases the effect of happiness, land value, pollution etc on the lifespan) which adds "lucK" factor to that and some citizens will simply die earlier, making it easier to handle, or simply make sure your city grows more organically and only build new residential areas slowly - which however is hard to do of course when the demand for residential is 100% and you're getting Chirps about how desperate people are to move in. But yeah, that's the cause and solution.

He would become obcessed with modding, spend the next 10 years making the glorious "Germania" supermod together with Speer (programming) and Hess (coffee making). WW2 would not happen.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkshalle
"The Volkshalle was to be the capital's most important and impressive building in terms of its size and symbolism. Visually it was to have been the architectural centrepiece of Berlin as the world capital (Welthauptstadt). Its dimensions were so large that it would have dwarfed every other structure in Berlin, including those on the north-south axis itself. The oculus of the building's dome, 46 metres (151 ft) in diameter, would have accommodated the entire rotunda of Hadrian's Pantheon and the dome of St. Peter's Basilica. The dome of the Volkshalle was to rise from a massive granite podium 315 by 315 metres (1,033 ft × 1,033 ft) and 74 metres (243 ft) high, to a total inclusive height of 290 metres (950 ft)."

I have to admit, I'd totally play that :) it would be so nice to turn Berlin into something meaningful instead of the hipster town it has become.

I like that some of the SC4 stuff starts appearing in this game, as some modders port their works. Here's a nice station and the Golden Pavilion by Ragutaro.

Unfortunately the pond sucks. I hope someone finds a way to model more realistic plop water.

Makes me wanna bring the temple I made for SC4 BAT to Skylines:

But it's way too high poly. And there's the work involved to make it from scratch again. Probably remake my other local skyscraper I made in SC4, hopefully bringing the custom building count to 2 on my side.

You made all the "gshmails" stuff? Wow, that's quite an opus you can look back on. You had lots of religious buildings, as far as I remember. And the all time classics, those Black Hole buildings. Nice.

I heard similar complaints from other modders. Also, the texture limitations suck. Really, the Golden Pavilion up there gets dragged down by that awful pond, but I know he tried his best to make it look okayish. The station is nice, but you see other limitations there, like that you cannot define access ways and the people go through the wall instead of the door, or put differently, they go where they went in the original CO station. I hope CO rethinks some of their decisions.

Heh, much better than mine. I just add what I need, and as the needs tend to grow, my exchanges tend to end up like some weird knot.

Lol, no. I'm not gshmails. He asked my permission to use my temple model which was already on Simtropolis and he enhanced it on the LOT editor. He credited me in the description.

Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding. It's a nice temple model, so hopefully you get an idea how to port this. Otherwise, our cities will look more and more Japanese:

All those donut trucks.
Yeah, it's one of those "type" vehicles, similar to all agricultural transports being tractors with trailers, or ore industry vehicles being semis with box trailers. Not sure where the exact idea comes from. It's probably a similar joke as in the X series, where all Argons eat burgers.
