There are mods for that.
Well, I don't use any, and I don't have that problem. The problem seems not to be related to the number of crematoria but has some other reason. I guess it has more to do with preventing it from happening the first time.

I looked at my population statistics:

I see the wave pattern in the vital parameters, too, but it's not increasing. I'm obviously playing more slowly though.

Edit: I actually have many more crematoria than I need (6x). for land value purposes. So this may be the reason? From the graph, I assume that 3 times is the absolute minimum to catch those spikes.

The critical time seems to be the first 15 years or so, where the fluctuations, compared to the base values, are vast. It's probably good to have a huge overcapacity during that time. Although the absolute values of the fluctuations are, at my current playing time, still in the same range, they are very small now compared to the base, which is why I only see the death sign very, very rarely.

Dominae's residential area is stable. This can be the reason of the waves too. If you keep adding houses then new waves of people can smooth it out.

I spoke with a couple friends that play, some have this issue, some don't. Those of us that do play on the slowest speed, and those that don't play on speed 3x pretty much constantly. Not sure if that is just a total coincidence or what since my sample size is only a handful of people. I'm wondering if those here that don't see this issue play on faster speeds?

I did get told I'm "playing wrong" by my friend that never sees this issue. She plays on speed 3, and is ... lets call it ... "less-than-careful" with her placement of everything. I'm more methodical, I pause a lot while I create larger areas or mess with my highway, make sure things line up like I want them, etc. I'll zone sections of things once I have them "just right". I don't zone a quarter of a whole map tile at once, but maybe an 8x16 section of something at a time. I suppose building a couple City blocks while paused and then unpausing when I'm happy with it could cause a people-influx, but I doubt it'd be anywhere near what is required to go from 60k to 40k people overnight like I'm seeing.

I might try again from scratch (since I lost most my saves during the 1.06->1.07->oops nevermind 1.06->ok 1.07 again patch dance) and just drop a ton of cemeteries this time. I typically run with 1 per large district until I get crematoriums and then remove the cemeteries and do 1-2 crem-per-large-zone setups, usually just for the land value/service bump. Having to micromanage them (by turning them off and on, or just ignoring them and having them sit unused 90% of the time) seems silly though, and counter-intuitive. You build fire & police stations to constantly battle safety concerns (or should be the case ... crime seems a non-issue in the game unless you purposefully destroy your City for achievements), but you need to build death-care facilities way beyond demand to cover unnatural service request spikes?

Does anyone's healthcare get used, by the way? I let my game run and spot-checked it just to see ... and I consistently had 1000+ bed capacity for healthcare (I built a hospital once it opened, thinking I'd need it) and never had the beds being "used" more than 6 then entire time my city was running. Seems people just don't get sick in my City, yet they drop dead on the same day. Its like an M. Night Shyamalan movie.

I just had a "death wave". Untended deadies everywhere. Plopped a lot of cemetries everywhere and it ended quickly.
I think I know what caused it in my case. I connected a big previously isolated (except for metro and trains) district to my road system, because cargo trains just could not handle the flow fast enough. And probably hearses began to go to other side of the map, resulting in a "death spiral" when there is always no free hearses, so first one free is used, no matter the distance. But as I said, adding a lot of cemetries helped.

As for services, I just put enough to have service coverage, and it's enough to not have burnt down houses or lot of sick people. Of cause, I watch for not having residentials in polluted or noise-polluted areas.

No, I'm a very slow player. From the numbers, I'm playing more slowly than you.

Seems like it. If you build enough to get good coverage, you will be way beyond "need", at least as far as the numbers would suggest.

I just checked. I have 329 sick people for 5,500 beds.

In other news, I experienced a "not enough goods to sell" setback today. I came from quite large positive commercial demand to lots of commercial abandonment in the matter of a few minutes. I had to do something to upgrade my industry quickly. My city looks a bit different now, given that many of the highrises I somehow got used to see disappeared during that event. Everything came back, but it was a bit scary for some time.

My industry had been in the doldrums for ages, so I didn't care. This must be this inbuilt buffer they spoke about. In this case, it made me somewhat careless. The commercial demand seems to just count industry, without looking whether it actually works.

What is this? A flight simulator inside a city builder? Yes! Follow your dreams!
Usage:
Press CTRL + A to enter flight mode. WASD+mouse controls. If you wish to change the flightmode shortcut, invert the axis or change sensitivity open the config menu with F8.

Should either pirate this game or buy it, i don't really have time to play such immersive things but i'd like to build a city to see what's wrong with my part of hellhole and its constant traffic jams.

yeah it is craze that in less than one month modders added:

- terraforming
- signs
- traffic controll and tool to check when people go
- upgrades to one way (which later was added in patch)
- unlocked 25 and now about 80 (though with bugs as game editor needs to also be modded to support bigger landmass)
- shit ton of custom content
- isometric and first person camera
- rebalancing of game

and the list goes on....

It scares me what this game will become in year time.

If you're going to get Cities: Skylines I would suggest buying it since you'll get access to the workshop.

I'm not sure if a pirated version would have the mod library that really makes this game into something really awesome.

It will be probably best to buy this a year from now, game will be patched and modded.
