Several Ravenloft monsters were directly inspired from movies that were recent at the time. The stained glass knight of Young Sherlock Holmes gave the glass golem, for instance.
No-one really remembers it, since that particular artwork appeared only in the original version of module B3 Palace of the Silver Princess that was recalled and pulped by the order of TSR management, with only a handful of copies surviving.

I like it too for the simplicity; it reminds me of the old illustrations from the demonology tomes.
