It was a good game all things considered. Its strong points are so well made that they cover up for its weaker points. On a gaming site that awarded GOTY to total trash like Disco Elysium and Pathfinder Kingmaker, i see it as VERY hypocritical to single out Witcher 3, which is far better than both.

Not that any sane individual would take the Codex GOTY seriously. Tell anyone that Codexers believe that Pathfinder Kingmaker or Disco Elysium are better games than Fallout 3,4 Witcher 3, or Skyrim, and they will just laugh at you and honestly call healthcare professionals to look after you.

It wasn't an RPG, so real decline for RPGCodex.
If to rate it as RPG, we will get very bad itemisation and dull combat, and nothing to do in so called (p)open world.
