Is this good idea?
In inventory on an item you can press the right mouse button for information about that item.
You have to hold the button while you are reading the description.
Like in Might and Magic 6.

Hmmmm
in Wizardry 8 you press the right mouse button but only one click and then the information is in a separate dialog window.

The holding of the button is very cumbersome.

zwanzig_zwoelf Is it a spider themed robot or a hologram/stylized image of an actual spider? In case of the former p. good, if not I'd roll with slightly higher polycount to make it look more organic. Here's my quick take

In my case it's a robot as seen by the scanner of the player's mech. In your case it does look a bit more organic and expressive, nice work.

What would you think of a game with the following aesthetic?

I know this particular image is qualitatively hideous, since I just cobbled it together in 10 mins using stock images. But I really like this style of minimalist painting, and wonder if it would work for an RPG.

There are two games that successfully used that style iirc, just go easy on the white backgrounds.

Okami is probably one of them.
Remember a Tale of Ronin that was shooting for a similar look, but dunno if that'un is being worked on now.

I didn't know about a Tale of Ronin. I hope it releases because it looks pretty sick!

Okami uses similar style in 3d by using a paper screen overlay, handpainted textures and thick outlines

I've been working on a 1st person dungeon crawler, inspired by the gameplay of Wizardry 7 & 8, and the aesthetic of the book The Manuscript Found in Saragossa. Looking to release it in the second half of 2021, and will post about playtesting when its ready.
http://tartarusunearthed.com/ will be updated with more information, but here's an inventory and battle screen in the mean time!

thanks!
the goal is to eventually release it on Steam, too. I always wanted a cool 1st person dungeon crawler that I could play on my phone, hence the decision to make a mobile version. I figured if I wanted it, I had to build it!

There's also Shigatari, a game made with scanned art from 19th century Japan. (or thereabouts)
That said, I've learned to appreciate some of the more minimalist graphical options. If done well, it looks amazing, and from a design standpoint, it cuts back on some of the graphical work, no real need to deal with all those pesky colors.

Lately i find retro stuff more interesting (though sadly they're getting overused fast) but today i had some will and energy to work a bit on Little Immersive Engine and wrote a small reusable viewport for asset editor previews - like the material editor above showing a cube with the edited material - that also provides some camera management (orbiting, walking) and simple scene config. Also fixed a couple of shadow and light bugs (not shown above because if they were visible i wouldn't have them fixed :-P).

Here is a video of the editor in action, also added a feature to render one of the opened worlds inside another asset editor's preview viewport which can be used, e.g., to see how a material (or mesh or whatever else that can use a preview viewport) would look in the world directly from the asset editor itself while editing it:
