Very impressive visuals and the virtual game board / dungeon terrain / minis aesthetic is spot-on. Nice use of depth of field to make things look miniature.

I took a Dwarf Fortress font from Bisasam and intend to use it in commercial project. I wish there was a way to contact this person to make sure it's okay, but I can't find them anywhere!

Thanks everyone for the brofists!, Much appreciated!

vonAchdorf: This is quite early in development still, but good to know!

Alchemist: That's definitely the look we're going for. Happy to hear it's working out!

Ninjerk: Yeah that part feels really nice, actually in the game's current state it's pretty much the entire experience. We'll be automating a lot of the system, however the dice throwing will remain as it does feel pretty awesome.

Jaesun: Thanks for saying so!

Ninjerk: Yeah that part feels really nice, actually in the game's current state it's pretty much the entire experience. We'll be automating a lot of the system, however the dice throwing will remain as it does feel pretty awesome.

Jaesun: Thanks for saying so!
Oh, just heads up since you seem pretty bro so far, our resident Obsidian developer Anthony Davis already has your avatar and he's known for his terrible temper. I don't want to see you get hurt.

jcd: Thank you very much! The game is running in Unity5 with Photon being used for multiplayer. It's still very early in development and we're still figuring out what it is exactly. We're creating our own systems loosely based on some boardgame systems such as Descent and Mice & Mystics. Basically trying to develop an easy system to pick up and play, but also giving the DM a lot of narrative tools and ways to sway the adventure in the direction he/she wants to. But all of this is mostly speculation. We've been running a couple of games in engine now, with the system just played out on paper. And its been quite a lot of fun. There are no one place for updates currently. I've been posting a bit on twitter here and there @jonnyree & @bouncyrock. there is also http://bouncyrock.com which we'll start updating at some point. We don't even have a name for the project yet.

Ninjerk: Thanks for the heads up! I'll switch it to something else.

I'd love to see this technology used for a virtual tabletop system for RPGs. It looks far better than anything out there right now. TabletopConnect is similar but doesn't look as good, and the developer has been acquired by Fantasy Grounds - so its unclear what form that will eventually take.

If you could hook this into a user modifiable rule system it could be an amazing online RPG tool. Bonus points if you let users mod in their own minis and terrain tiles.

We've started working on a digital multiplayer board-game of sorts.

Here are some random shots:

We also had a quick Design "paperdesign" session on Twitch.tv the other day. Here is a couple of minutes:

I'm loving the dice roll animations. Get some numbers on those bitches! :)

Anthony Davis: Well then. Consider my leg pulled. I'll try to keep it socket-ed. And thanks a bunch for the compliment! (I knew you were a decent guy!)

Ninjerk: Once again, thanks for the heads up. Don't tell Anthony, but I totally believe you! I would also like to thank you for what I can only believe is a fairly proper introduction to the community, if perhaps a bit mild? :salute:

Yaar Podshipnik: No idea yet. Still a bit early so we'll see where we take it and what makes sense. I think putting it out there once it becomes useful or interesting to someone might be the way to go. And then perhaps build on top of it. But, yeah, I don't know as of.

Alchemist: That's actually something I wanted to avoid, as I figured people might be happy with the tools already provided. But perhaps something a bit less cluttered and more visually focused would have an audience? There is also Table Top Simulator which does a good job of simulating a lot of the board game action. But that is fairly general in use case. Moving characters around and throwing dice in here is a lot of fun. I'm already quite keen on allowing people to add their own content, both minis and tiles. Something I hope I'll be able to implement in any case. Everything is still on the table "top" (haha, sorry) with this one.

Zep Zepo: Thanks! in the video you'll see some icons that also light up. The system is made to be able to have any shape dice, and populate it with either icons or numbers, so it's quite flexible to take it in any direction.

DosBuster: Thanks a bunch! Yeah we do have plans to handle exterior areas as well. not entirely sure in what format yet. I was thinking about allowing placement of Styrofoam looking blocks which can them be manipulated into shapes. something which will still keep the grid sort of intact.

The Short Answer
is: Yes, in some form.

Interesting, in that case since a flat plane of terrain looks boring how are you planning on adding detail? Can the grid work on inclines?
Terrible explanation on my part, I apologize. Yeah, I was thinking about allowing the grid to follow the terrain, basically allowing your to make the terrain all hilly and stuff. Within reason. Any incline greater than what looks good, will probably become a step (type cliff) not sure yet, but it definitely needs to be curvy.

This looks very impressive so far. The question is... will it be turn-based or real-time with pause? :P

...said no one ever.

Somebody put this on the front page. gameplay > graphics
:incline: (as in, opposite of decline)

Thank you very much. It will likely be fully turn-based, with possibly some optional actions between turns to support the waiting time with multiplayer.
