Is tagging Biotech worth it?
Yes. Lowers the cost of healing from medkits. Good money maker for implant harvesting too.

Not tagging it could even be better in some cases
If your biotech is too low when harvesting you get "ruined" implants which can't be repaired. I think tagging it is an okay investment.

Yeah I'm not 100% sure but it seems that w/o tagging bio and not having mastermind or that other +25% lp feat you won't be even able to extract 5+ implants.

You're not definitely not going to reach level 6 without tag:

And a build that didn't tag it:
Barely managed to reach level 4. The reason why Biotech is important is because you can get good implants super early on. For instance, if you want Subdermal armor there's only two ways to get it. A 6 Computers/Lockpick/Electronics check or you can just harvest it for free from Jed.

Yeah but Bio 4 is (currently) a sweet spot, you can harvest Exo-Spines and repair them, the only implant you're locked out of is Subdermal armor and again it's not THAT great
Medkits healing more don't count when you have like 50

Personally I wouldn't tag bio unless I was running a party with lots of tags to spare and wanted to cover all my bases. There will hopefully be some tough bio checks later on in the game (maybe wehn you return to hydroponics), but for now 4 is perfectly sufficient.

Getting 5 electronics isn't easy tho. Not sure about possibility of raising it up to that point currently again w/o tag/mastermind/the other lp feat.

That's a good point there, but medkit healing matters to me in early game where I try to optimize how much money I can get.

there is not much use for money in the game right now (the armor u can buy at the factory should be a lot more expensive btw) anyway. i hope ITS does not repeat the mistake it made in AOD.

There are some very good guns to buy in the Habitat costing 2k-3k credits each, and upgrading/overclocking implants will be introduced when the next area becomes available, so there should be plenty to spend credits on.

There's a new update to the beta branch. It includes new melee weapons that you can purchase at Habitat, some visual improvements for different areas, and a new combat encounter at the Residential Brotherhood Section. In case anyone wants to check it out.

can I punch my way through the game with max CON, but suboptimal STR?

If you got friends, you can punch your way through anything. Behold, 80 HP facetank build. Like a true leader you just stand there in the open looking pretty and act as a bullet magnet, while your team goes on the offensive. 4 regeneration per turn, or 14 hp regen for 3 turns with stim.

Also, not that it matters that much but healing factor + heart clear stat penalties in no time, so you can pretty much spam stim infinitely. Once one runs out - your stats are back to normal and you can pop another.

yeah that’s a pretty cool build Technomancer

with those tagged skills and 6 cha you can see a ton of combat and non-combat options, making for a really versatile playthrough.

i assume you skip on feats to reduce AP penalty from high protection armor because your MC’s main role isn’t to be maximizing combat effectiveness, but to soak damage?

Well he's got 18 armor handling skill and 5 Armor Skill which means due to how much he gets hit the skill naturally goes up. Should be able to get by just fine. Besides at the moment there really isn't enough armor that imposes AP penalty. So Armored Warfare isn't that necessary.

Also level 4. The skills threw me, but that’s a young character.

Yep, he is useless in offense. I spam shoot on legs or torso mostly. Or body block. And you don't tag armor or evasion. You want enemies to hit you. And I noticed that NPCs don't really want to do it. They would rather shoot Faythe or Evans who wear lighter armor. Have to position party in a certain way and use invis globes. You wear heaviest of armors you can get and bear the penalties. With low weapons skill and AP it doesn't matter. In fact this build here is almost complete in feat selection, next level I am choosing master trader, and after that, either skill monkey or true grit.

Only on level 5 I realized I made a mistake. I chose 6 CHA coz this is the optimal minmax number since you get +1 companion from implant and with 10 CON you obviously install all implants. So I thought that 2 stat points need to go into PER, it made sense, since I have only one shot it has to count. No. PER should be 5 and CHA should be 7. That way you can grab Master Trader which is very important for large max party size economy. And you really could use it when you hit 5 in habitat, it has plenty of overpriced toys and will have even more in the future. Also, since this party kills everything, that means you don't have many opportunities to raise talker skills so you will find disposition buffs from Master Trader feat and higher CHA useful. Some quests are gated behind speech checks as well.

Anyway Squad Leader apparently won't increase party size soon so PER would go to 4 and CHA to 8. Maybe even 9 at this point.

I think that particular save is just entered the habitat.

I think I did everything there's currently to do.
Hopefully some extra side quests (not related to factions) are added, because some areas feel a bit bare.

I'm very excited about the Mainentance and the monks coming in the next update.

Finally got new blunt weapons and found something better than utility bar!

Do you mind specifying which areas in particular that you feel were barren? Just want the developers to have some feedback they can work with. I saw a similar comment on steam forums where a user thought the same.

were there any changes to initial release CS leveling up? I recall it being hard to keep up as sneaky murder hobo who wouldnt get into 'proper' combat much

My memory is terrible but I think they only changed how tags work and how much experience it takes to get to next skill level. There's going to be another system update though after Habitat so it might get changed again.
