Any ending predictions?

It's confirmed that the endgame starts after you enter the Bridge, the only part of the Ship with windows and navigational systems.

I'm seeing 3 possible scenarios:

1. Navigation was damaged and there's no way to check how far the Ship is from it's destination or whether it's even on the right course. You have the option to stay on the course or turn around towards where the computer thinks Earth is. Whatever decision you make, you don't have to inform the factions. Companions of course will have preferrences what you should do.

2. Ship is heading towards sun/ black hole/ other danger that can't be avoided, but it will arrive there long after your death. Do you tell everyone and hope they will work together towards solving the problem or you hide this information and everyone dies in an instant somewhere in the next century?

3. Ship arrived on the orbit of it's destination couple decades ago, but nobody knew about it. Inform everyone or maybe only your faction and prepare for the colonization? Or ignore it and live the rest of your life on the Ship.


Personally I think it's number 3, as it's the only one where every outcome leads to the hypothetical sequel Vince would want to make.

It's 3, the question is how the ship would get to the planet down below. Vince is still thinking about that. I like my idea of where the opposing faction decide to do a fuck you and plunge the ship in order to kill everyone in crash landing. If we can't have the promised land, no one can.

Nah, that's excessive. Given how little faith some people have in their respective faction leadership, they wouldn't go for it.

So you would've hit 5 with 10 INT and (maybe) educated, but it wouldn't matter because the extra feat is locked behind lvl 6. In short, there's not much point in playing Mastermind yet. EDIT: lvl 6? nvm, I'll try a single companion run.
Already at level 3 (or whenver it is you get the first bonus feat), you're ahead by the bonus xp from mastermind (even if nothing else). It is maybe not much, but it is *free* and free is op.

There's a lot of shuttles in the shuttle bay, some still look mostly operational. The idea of taking such a big ship down onto a planet is a bit farfetched imo. Having a mostly operation ship in orbit would also explain why the natives don't wipe them out, the humans can promise orbital bombardment of their capital/cities in retaliation.

Exactly. That's why I want it to happen, cause its so chaotic and crazy that it'll be super entertaining to read about. Just imagine reading about it in-game with Vince's writing style on how a faction attempted to destroy humanity's last bastion of hope cause they wanted their side to get the promised land.

No, if you read the dialogue in Shuttle Bay they're no longer operational - they've all been retro-outfitted as living spaces, remember - save for one that'll be tied to a certain ending.

Vince's style works because it's mostly very grounded. Characters he writes are typically driven by self-interest and, as I said, there is nothing to be won by the general populace of the other factions. They are tired and dispassionate. I doubt their leaders would be able to whip them into suicidal frenzy "Victory or Death" style. Especially with the perspective of the end of the voyage so close - that would make people even more disinterested in duking it out. At least that's my interpretation.

The endgame starts when you're ready to deliver the assembled machine; reaching the bridge is entirely optional (and not that easy).

There's a lot of shuttles in the shuttle bay, some still look mostly operational. The idea of taking such a big ship down onto a planet is a bit farfetched imo.
The ship was not designed for landing, but the cargo holds can be disengaged and taken down.

Heaven's fall... The catastrophic moment where the ship crash landed on the planet all because of another faction's avarice or something. I'm sure you can find some profound biblical allegory for this event. Also, since an opposing faction was responsible for the event. It'll set up some interesting internal faction drama between colonists.

Accidentally driving the ship into the planet seems like a good bad ending.
TBF, if you're the guy with his hand on the ship's navigational controls, it's not like anybody else gets a vote.
Anybody else may follow you onto the bridge, depending on how operational the doors and bulkheads are after you forcibly open them.

Can we all agree that a fourth pre-habitat (hopefully pre-factory) companion is needed? A full party run currently has zero choice in regards to companions, you must take all three, which kinda limits how the player builds his MC by quite a lot. I would love to see another blank slate character with a somewhat neutral stat spread. Essentially Evans 2.0. 6/7/8/8/7/4 or something along those lines would be perfect. Would be even better if he/she had no starting feats, that would be the dream.

I blame Jed.

Let's hope the thermal tiles are still operable after being exposed to solar radiation and micrometeorites for hundreds (?) of years. You have the physics of reentry and landing figured out, right?

Wasn't there meant to be a cybernetic monk companion if PC aligns himself with ECLSS (or was it the mutants...)?

It's a monk woman now, and yes, also yes to PC having mutant companion too - either Harbinger or Knurl. Those are still planned for, unless the devs changed their mind about it.

I think Mastermind got broken by the last nerf. Bonus SP applying to tagged skills only completely defeats the purpose of the feat as it results in overkill values for computer/electronics while providing nothing for non-tagged skills. In the end, if you want to keep up you STILL need a tag on lockpick, a tag on computer, a tag on electronics and so on. Mastermind doesn't replace the need for tags, while also providing overkill amount of SPs to tagged skills. That means if your goal is to be a jack of all trades, mastermind is strictly worse than Gifted. Only use case left is that your combat skill will quickly outpace everyone else. Oh, and don't say "bonus XP", that's a feature of high INT. IMO MM should go back to giving bonus SP to all skills, tagged or otherwise. Nerf the percentage if you have to, but present state MM is sad.

The biggest advantage of MM is that it gets you a bonus feat at level 6. Getting an extra level in tagged combat skills is also nice, but Gifted is certainly a viable alternative for an INT 10 build - substantially more powerful before level 6, slightly less powerful on balance afterwards, IMO. The Skill Monkey + Zen mutation combo is more useful for a jack of all trades since it gives +50% to all skills, irrespective of tags.

It probably could be ... if there would be roleplay mechanics supporting it like say your character goes heavy into mutations etc...bam you get cha penalty etc.

on a similar "disposition": note ... how low does your faction rep have to go? -12 -15? for you to be irrevocably deemed public enemy #1 by the faction and have them attack you on sight and send bounties after you?
