Said Simon Hellwig, Managing Director and founder of Kalypso Media Group GmbH:
“The establishment of a new studio is a clear commitment to Kalypso’s growth plans for the coming years as we looked to expand our internal and external development efforts.” “Commandos is a great, globally-recognized brand and we will do our utmost to meet the expectations of the worldwide gaming community. We can’t wait to get started.”
Reußwig adds: “At the new site we’ll be looking to develop a truly worthy successor to Commandos, designed for both PC and console platforms for simultaneous worldwide release. On a personal level, I couldn’t be prouder to be working on a true icon of strategy gaming, and I’m looking forward to receiving applications from new and experienced developers alike that share our passion for the series.”
Recruitment for the new studio is already underway, with positions advertised on relevant recruitment sites as well as Kalypso’s own Jobs board. The exact location and final name of the studio is set to be revealed soon.
For Commandos fans, the PC version of the eagerly-awaited Commandos 2 – HD Remaster can be pre-ordered with exclusive beta access on the Kalypso Store starting this Friday 13th December.
OK I don't hate Kalypso anymore, they sometimes bite more than they can chew but at least they won't insert a mind controlling witch character in the next Commandos game.
...right?

After the third in-house developer studio, Claymore Games Studios, was opened by Kalypso Media in April of last year, the first details of the first Commandos project from Darmstadt are now following. According to the database of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the new Commandos with the name Commandos: Origins is being created under the direction of Jürgen Reusswig. A corresponding logo is also stored in the database.
Commandos: Origins is the name of the new Commandos part
After almost 20 years, the real-time tactics series will be continued with Commandos: Origins. With a funding amount of € 1,532,519.00, the project receives part of the games funding available annually from the federal government. As of April 6, 2021, Commandos is in third place among the highest investments by the federal government.
Initial information is also available on the content:
"Commandos: Origins" is a tactical strategy game that takes place in the first half of the Second World War and tells the story of a newly founded British commando unit that grows into a brotherhood during its operations against strategic goals of the German Wehrmacht. The player will control different characters with different abilities from an isometric perspective of the playing field and use them strategically in such a way that the given mission goal is achieved. So you will work your way through the various missions based on historical locations and missions to the respective goal.
We remain curious to see when there will be specific details, first screenshots or even gameplay material for the game.
Previous Commandos games were made by Spaniards who had an affair with fascism for quite a few decades longer plus https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spain_during_World_War_IISeems wrong and awkward for Germans to make a Commandos game, but okay.
The Commandos games were very, very popular in Germany. Probably more popular there than anywhere else really.Seems wrong and awkward for Germans to make a Commandos game, but okay.
That's still very different. They decided not to get involved afterwards, which is very different from making a game in which you are the bad guys.Previous Commandos games were made by Spaniards who had an affair with fascism for quite a few decades longer plus https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spain_during_World_War_IISeems wrong and awkward for Germans to make a Commandos game, but okay.
ALARM! The legendary real-time tactics franchise returns: Commandos: Origins brings you back to the very first missions of this infamous WWII special unit. Take over control of Green Beret, Sapper and Co, learn how they originally met, and take on more than 10 missions from the barren Arctic to the African desert.
This probably means the devs won't include Nazi "symbols" or "relics" in a game set during World War II, in which you play commandos fighting Nazis.
