Is there a mod for weakening the fervor-draining effects of random-ass bishops being pervy? Because it gets old fast. "Oh, some bishop can't keep it in his pants. Time to half of France to embrace Catharism." Catholicism seems immensely weak in my game.
Yes there is, it changes penalty from 10 to 5, i dont remember its name tho

It's pretty fun to be the only righteous Catholic vassal in a heretical Cathar kingdom. The kings regularly demands conversion and if you refuse he can arrest you. And of course he offers the best educators for your heir to convert them. Luckily I formed a liberty faction and when the king sent me a note that he wanted to arrest me for refusing conversion, I could drag some other vassals into the war.

If I win I shall get a hook to change the vassal contract granting my character religious freedom. The vassal contracts are an addition I like, it better reflects the personal aspect of vassalage and the countless little privileges and freedoms various vassals had.

Vassal Contract is definitively one of the best additions to the franchise. It really makes every vassal more unique.
Much like secrets that's a very limited version of a major mechanic I developed for my game. Maybe they'll do a whole DLC on it and flesh it out to something actually interesting. Paradox loves to add mechanics that are like 50% of the way to awesome and never improve them, though.

Hahaha I was just playing as that one big Hindu Afghan, my Muslim neighbor started a war for my duchy title. I surrendered and the guy vassalizes me. Right afterwards he not only gives me back my duchy title, he gives me MORE counties of it than I had before AND made me his marshal.

Did a Georgia play, plays a bit easier than CKII. Then again, my cousin or whatever won independence super early.

Middle ages the cadet branches go a bit crazy for holding land in the same Realm. Like brothers would do it.

I've also seen my son inherent Dynasty head from my father. Huh?

But okay, this is initial release state.

I had a situation where some pathetic Count lady forced herself into my council by getting a hook on me and guaranteeing herself a position, thus she became my Steward. Not only she had terrible skill, but was also forcing out some Powerful Vassal who had pretty good skill. At the time I wanted to keep vassals in line (stabilize the realm while I was still a kid), so it was really bad news for me. I sent my Spymaster to get a hook on her, but since SHE already changed her contract I couldn't change it back. I find this part ("contract was already changed") annoying. I ended up finding out she had a lover, meaning I could send her to prison, which fixed the problem.

That vassal contract option is the devil. I inherited a kingdom with one dude who had it. No problem, whatever, he was an OK spymaster. Around 40 years later due to multiple partition successions I suddenly realize I have 4 dukes who have it because each heir will inherit the same contract. Fuck my court. I guess you can basically use that contract as a poison pill for any title you are about to lose.

Genetics play a role and parents' features can be inherited. In the picture the chick has the plague which doesn't help her looks.

So, the real inheritance game will be breeding for big boobs.

In this mod Asatru rulers in eastern Europe instead have a x10 multiplier for duchies along the river routes from Lake Ladoga to the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, plus the city of the world's desire.

The screenshot is from 902 and shows the Rurikids have avoided spraying themselves across the Atlantic coast and are continuing to expand in Russia.

Nice mod, though hopefully its necessity is patched out, since the status quo can't be intended behaviour. Speaking of patch's, that much promised pile of bug fixes and "really fancy UI upgrades" should be dropping soon...

In the near future we’ll be looking at collecting and addressing as many of your issues as we can. The upcoming patch (release date TBD) is a mix of improvements that didn't make it into the release (including some really fancy UI upgrades!), and bug fixes based on your feedback. Patch notes will be posted closer in time to when the patch will be released. If you have an issue, make sure to report it here so that it’s sure to be looked at!

I wonder if part of it was gameplay concern to ensure players can easily break out with their own variants, though it feels like they went overboard.

That said, there's no absolute reason that Lollards and other heresies could not have grown into larger and more 'stable' minorities in an alternative Europe, especially if it is an alternative Europe where, let's say, the Crusades never take off as well as they did in 1099, the distribution of temporal and clerical powers remains unsettled, and Christian rulers become more bold at marching against the Papacy, or even a scenario where Byzantine disintegration and/or Andalusian developments lead to more syncretic / pluralist acceptance of Islamic beliefs that in turn encourage a rethinking of the Catholic institution, and so on.

What the game really needs to better, I'd say, is not so much "Catholics STRONK" but making it more likely for characters to secretly harbour heretic beliefs / heretic sympathies. The game is crying out for an underlying 'secret traits' pane that you see as yourself and find out about others as secrets, which includes Witchery but also things like "Sympathetic to Bogomilists".

That mod for fixing catholic fervour didn't really work, Catholicism is still a wet noodle religion and I get pop-ups of rulers converting to heresy all the time still. Then again, I did add it to an ongoing game.

How the fuck the sheer weakness of catholicism ever passed out of beta?

I was determined to play a Catholic-game first, but Catholicism is so fucking weak in this game, like wtf. The FUCKING SWEDES converted back to Asatru because Catholicism sucks this hard.

I suspect one day I will realize I am the last catholic ruler of Europe.

Why bother employing their own testers, when YOU are the beta testers and even pay for that privilege?

Catholicism is so fucked in this game I abandoned my plans of catholic reconquista and instead made my own incestuous nudist heresy with fervor and conversion speed tenets. Whole Hispania was converted in less than 10 years.
