Corpo is in game though
As origin story and dialogs. Is Streetkid a new role now? With such logic it is.

What's better, nine classes, or three classes with greater depth?

Not a rhetorical question, genuinely interested in what people think

I'm fine with the classless system and 3 background choices as long as the backgrounds are different enough from each other, and that seems to be the case.

In a recent interview, CDPR confirmed there won't be any side effect for the protagonist when they have too much cyber implants.

However there will be side quests for you to hunt down people going crazy because of too much implants.

Guess having Keanu in your head makes you chosen one.

What makes you think you're getting greater depth? They are not adding, they are subtracting.
It stands to reason that, if they tried to implement 10 classes in the same time that implemented 3, they'd have to sacrifice depth

There is only a limited amount of dev time, not infinite

Please just call us Believers. :smug:
I was making a joke, considering he has "Fanboy!" title. I have nothing against people wishing the game to be good, although I personally think it's overly optimistic outlook. I mean, it probably won't be a bad video game, but the more I learn about it, the less RPG it becomes. And defending the cuts is just asinine, so Daedalos whining about people having a problem with it is cherry on the top.

But that's the thing - they didn't implement 3 classes. They mashed together three classes into a mix. You aren't really a Netrunner, nor you were a Techie. You were a Solo, who could specialize in certain aspects of the three, but you still require the actual specialists (in the very first gameplay we are assisted by a real Netrunner). In some way it's staggering how close this is to The Witcher than to Cyberpunk 2020.

And they aren't adding depth in the process. They are cutting the extra work that'd be required in order to make the actual different classes viable choices in their own right. They probably realized that having 9 classes available to a player is way too much work and they were behind on schedule already, so they "outsourced" them to NPCs. That way they can say "Look! The Corpo is in the game!", but it's not the same as adding depth to the existing classes, because adding depth suggest something is gained in exchange.

Nine classes. Mechanical depth and / or redundancies are, or at least should be, secondary to role playing.

Damn, even with all that Witcher 3 money, they can't keep up with Mankind Divided.

Why? Were there a gameplay mechanic in MD about installing too many implants resulting going insane? Other than needing an expensive drug for augs to not get rejected? Which I don't remember if we actually had to buy & use?

Yeah, it was called overclocking if I'm remembering it right. Taking too many "experimental" augmentations resulted in various side effects depending on quantity.

We all read the rumors about it being rebooted and featuring only one protagonist. That was back in 2017.

That happened after Blood & Wine was released. Although it was mostly writing and art (2012-2016), I think that's when they moved from Blade Runner to futuristic GTA V.

To be honest, I never expected them to be able to make a proper adaptation and a proper RPG, but that was still disappointing.

I'm also disappointed about the shitty mexican side-kick you actually meet in all three intro questlines. It's like every GTA-like game has to have one. To the point that in case of Mafia 2 your side-kick Joe was actually the protagonist of the game, while Vito was just driving him everywhere, following him and doing everything he told him to do.

What suggested they'd go for Blade Runner back then? Closer rulebook integration != Blade Runner.

Even if we pretend that those two aren't connected, earlier promo materials suggested a more classical approach.

Although I really really doubt that Pondsmith had a different vision for it back in 1988, six years after the release of the movie, when even Gibson said that it is how he imagined Neuromancer to be and rewrote a major part of it because of similarities.
