It's an easy thing to miss, and it's not really cyberpunk, but close to it. There isn't much of the hardware there either, no cyber implants or hacking or any of that stuff. I think it was that promo video that they put at the start of the game that made the close future setting of the game less apparent to most people who played it.GTA 2 is literally cyberpunk my zoom-zoom friend...He seems to be talking about writing, though, which is secondary to our interests here.
Probably a publisher's decision as the movie intro doesn't match the game's visuals either. Cars should be retrofuturistic, for one. But otherwise a 100% hit as far as state of affairs go. Even managed to cram a megacorpo into it.It's an easy thing to miss, and it's not really cyberpunk, but close to it. Rockstar only mentioned it once on their website that GTA2 is supposed to take place in 2013 so no wonder. The manual just says "x time in future".I had no idea it was supposed to be set in the future when I played it back in the day.
Not a problem. Vice City in GTA1 still looks like a dystopian free-state corporate metropolis only on a west coast with corresponding palette. That still does not rule out the SUNLIGHT.As far as GTA games go Cyberpunk 2077 looks like Vice City crossed with French-Canadian Deus Ex, or Vice City from the first game.

You will never be a woman.
Guess you haven't seen the rainbow t-shirt?This is the worst, distasteful thing I have ever seen from CDP.
That is what I meant, they had some concept art and renders that was completely different. Obviously they didn't have money for fake-future cars in a live-action promotional film.Probably a publisher's decision as the movie intro doesn't match the game's visuals either. Cars should be retrofuturistic, for one.
Yeah, they managed to put a lot into it. I guess that's why it was made the intro, a rendered cinematic or stills or something would have felt cheaper. But otherwise a 100% hit as far as state of affairs go. Even managed to cram a megacorpo into it.
You're right, it isn't even mentioned on the back of the box, no wonder then. There is actually very little about the setting in general, it's pure gameplay features. The early GTA games were more arcade games so it's no wonder, I have no idea what modern GTAs are like, if they are still riding that GTA3 formula or not. Vice City is the only one of them I actually liked post-GTA2, I still have a physical copy for the PS2.Rockstar only mentioned it once on their website that GTA2 is supposed to take place in 2013 so no wonder. I didn't say it was a problem, that's just how it looks. I do forget if you could change it to nighttime in the first one. I played GTA2 that way, looked much nicer. Not a problem. Vice City in GTA1 still looks like a dystopian free-state corporate metropolis only on a west coast with corresponding palette. That still does not rule out the SUNLIGHT.
Unfortunately, it is not possible.I do forget if you could change it to nighttime in the first one
GTA3 itself was a "crossgen" title for Rockstar, many of the arcade elements like topdown camera and adding cash to player's bank account for mayhem, veeeeery cheesy "gore" or dark cynical tone of the first two games are still there. (it was supposed to be even more cynical though as can be seen in cut content)I have no idea what modern GTAs are like, if they are still riding that GTA3 formula or not.
Vice City is where it properly starts for Rockstar to having their formula refined enough to ride on. I dislike this title personally. San Andreas is much more sophisticated. Scarface 20 years late "tie-in", too.Vice City is the only one of them I actually liked post-GTA2, I still have a physical copy for the PS2.
What the fuck?
It was neither here nor there, which is why I dislike it. The previous games didn't try so hard with cutscenes and things like that. You could chalk that up to the design trends at the time and budget reasons, but the phone-calls were enough. By Vice City the cutscenes seem to go on forever. Do you have a link for that cut content? I didn't know they cut things, not anything important anyway.GTA3 itself was a "crossgen" title for Rockstar, many of the arcade elements like topdown camera and adding cash to player's bank account for mayhem, veeeeery cheesy "gore" or dark cynical tone of the first two games are still there. It was the peak of their GTA3 trilogy, sure, but I just dislike the afroid-American gangster antics and the music that comes with that. Vice City had a much better atmosphere with the neon lights and all, which is also something I usually like about cyberpunk titles. And we are talking about aesthetics here.I dislike this title personally. San Andreas is much more sophisticated. Scarface 20 years late "tie-in", too.
Fixed.Guess you haven't seen the rainbow t-shirt?This is the second worst, distasteful thing I have ever seen from CDP.
Not a whole lot but having children is GTA 3 would push it beyond Postal-tier edge. (Where Invisible War currently sits)Do you have a link for that cut content? I didn't know they cut things, not anything important anyway.
I watched Scarface and played other GTAs first too much to appreciate Vice City now for anything not related to aesthetics and soundtrack, which is a given that they are superb. It was the peak of their GTA3 trilogy, sure, but I just dislike the afroid-American gangster antics and the music that comes with that. I just want my edge and dark early 00s NYC aesthetics back, Liberty City was the main protagonist, not the player character. Though I know myself that aesthetically GTA3 was a downgrade from GTA2.It was neither here nor there, which is why I dislike it. I hear you, I didn't like where the games went direction-wise either and I think I will replay GTA3 just to see what it really is like. I only picked it up at the time of release and was disappointed it wasn't like the previous entries, then I heard good things about Vice City and it pulled me in. I have actually never watched Scarface, if you would believe it.I just want my edge and dark early 00s NYC aesthetics back, Liberty City was the main protagonist, not the player character.
Kek, running over old farts with walkers. Yeah, it could easily have gone Postal 2. Would have been fun and maybe DMA wouldn't have gone for storytelling above all else with the later entries if they went down that road.Elderly pedestrians with walkers were removed.
Dude it's night city there are black people there. Try to keep up lorelet.holy shit! so the game is going to be black gangsta in the future?? i was going to buy the game, now i´m not sure.

It's more about the execution, not so much about the idea.serious negro fatigue due to the woke f-ckery of having to insert them in every game
The spiritual sequel to the Haitian genocide simulator called Vice City, baby!Dude it's night city there are black people there. Try to keep up lorelet.holy shit! so the game is going to be black gangsta in the future?? i was going to buy the game, now i´m not sure.

Yes it's definitely about the execution when there are people posting Kangz memes and obnoxious minstrel pictures from the 30s.It's more about the execution, not so much about the idea.serious negro fatigue due to the woke f-ckery of having to insert them in every game
The song itself isn't the best but it's pretty obvious to see some people are hating on it for reasons other than its artistic value.
Yeah I dunno I like some of the track but I agree that the lyrics are pretty weak overall
Also Killer Mike is one of those guys who is embarrassingly political and it kinda shows here with his lame line about corps running Cali
