Can you give some examples of his "good writing"? I'm genuinely curious.
HK-47 is a fun character.

Gaider is not KotOR writer.
But KotOR was shit anyway because they got that other retard Karpyshyn. I wonder where Bioware manages to get the most crappy, immature writers with teenager mentality past their 30s. At least with Bethesda we know that Emil tries really hard to come up with any dumb shit that schoolboys will like - but Bioware doesn't even try. It's like they are naturally talented at writing crap or something.

What about that scene from Conan when he finds that good looking woman in the wild and she turns into a monster while they are at it.
i thought that one was executed nicely too.

Dragon age looks like crap to me. At the start i thought it might be interesting but this is almost ugly.
Sounds like in the end someone will be flying into the sunset on a dragon.

And they always amaze me how they manage to make those ugly faces and haircuts that ordinary man couldnt even imagine.
And armor looks awfull.

The first conan was a very good movie at least as far as direction and atmosphere are concerned. The Roy Thomas comic stories and adaptations from the books were also not bad, not to mention some excellent drawing from Barry W.Smith and John Buscema

HK was written by Gaydar but how do you define good writing? Is it technical á la metaphors, choise of words, structure, pacing? Is it idea and setting-wise? Is it both and if yes to what degree can one compensate another?
Imo HK stands out because of the idea, not because of great writing.

EDIT: man, I just realised I was initially interested in Dragon Age, but boy has the PR campaign done a good job of souring any positive feelings I harbour towards the game.
Same here, although the trailers did their bit as well.

I was looking forward to DA as well, before this. If there's one thing I can't stand it's juvenile fantasy. Even if the mechanics are fun I don't think I'll be able to ignore beautiful warrior maidens and other cliches.

Wasn't Luke Skywalker's mom a rebel Queen?
his companion was a brash outlaw, and Leia fills the role of warrior maiden (but its his sister)

there will probably be a beast sidekick like Chewie, and there has to be an old mentor warrior character

What's the difference anyway then? I can't tell his style from Karpyshyn's (who was the lead writer for KotOR iirc) - they are both incredibly shitty writers.
Seriously why Gaider gets so much attention here? Show me at least one good story that he wrote.

Mmm, his one non-game writing that I can find is this one. It's... KotOR fanfic written as a conclusion for the female!Revan/Carth romance. I'll let the text speak for itself:

So Carth went to her. He slowly made his way down the ramp, his steps becoming more urgent the closer he got to her. He began to run, and suddenly so did she... and as they drew together almost magnetically they sped up until their pace was a desperate sprint. And then finally he swept Revan up into his arms. They embraced, clutching to each other with an exquisite intensity.

And like a wave finally breaking upon the sand, the collected spectators broke into wild applause. The approving roar of the crowd was deafening... but neither Carth nor Revan noticed.

...

Revan disengaged slowly from their embrace and looked Carth in the face. Both of their eyes were bleary with joyful tears and really they looked ridiculous. She laughed suddenly and so did he. It felt good to laugh. The audience cheered again, and now they both looked out at the crowd bashfully, waving briefly before looking at each other and laughing giddily once more. 'I don't care what we do,' she said quietly to him. 'We have a destiny ahead of us still. Our story isn't done. Whether it's making babies or more fighting, I don't care so long as you're there with me. Think you can handle that?'

An exquisite intensity! They drew together magnetically! LET'S MAKE BABIES.

He prefaced it with "Yes, I work for Bioware but no, this isn't official" so technically it's fanfic.

HK-47 was a boring character with a few witty one-liners in KotOR 1. It wasn't until the sequel that I liked him at all. KoTor II actually made the character feel like a cold, calculating, and extremely cruel assassin that was also incredibly intelligent and resourceful, the HK Factory being especially good. In KotOR 1 he was just sorta a robot who’d occasionally say something funny.

And the actually wackee scenes he had in KotOR2 were vastly superior. Like Mockery and Pacifist Chip. "I almost completely surrendered to the ideals of peace and love!"
